Thanks manlmao, nice
Thank you for the response, my fat friend. Hmm... yeah, I suppose you make good points. Smash does have a tendency to end on low notes. I'd prefer Doom Slayer, but as I've said for a while, I'm content with the roster and fine with Skyrim.Proofreading is now done and, not surprisingly, I added almost added 200 more words in the proces. Now I'm just kind of glassy eyed but I'll address something a TON of people have asked me since I came out with the name Dragonborn.
AdamBel731
Could Dragonborn be leakbait for Doom Guy? Yes. Do I think that's the case? No. Why? Reasons... (Imagine if I stopped there.)
1. Lots of people have been warning people about this for months.
Smash tends to "end" on "low notes." Yes, tons of people have chewed me out for calling Dragon Born a low note but, in the Smash bubble, people aren't exactly happy with the prospect (and my inbox on multiple sites is definitely proof of that). It's kind of like a Wolf/Krystal situation in Brawl but one obviously has a much more vocal fanbase. Skyrim is an absolutely beloved again and would be perfectly fine as an addition to Smash. I've gone into details why I think it's a logical choice based on theory crafting. Smash has never ended on a super popular character and, in my own speculation, I don't think Nintendo would have "warned us" back in September if they thought 5 was going to go over super well with everyone. This is another reason why I entertained Lloyd and Nightmare, because plenty of people complained about those characters too for their own set of reasons. As someone who has been here for Brawl, Smash 4, and Ultimate speculation, I can look at you all as a grizzled old man and could say that 5 would probably be a "low note" even if I was theorycrafting or privy to insider stuff.
2. The situation isn't comparable to Steve and Banjo.
The reasons so many people believed in Steve over Banjo because people claimed that there was fake photos and even videos going around of him in Smash. In other words, Microsoft was full ass invested in a misinformation campaign on the character. Yes, those are tall claims but it honestly makes sense given how multiple insiders lived and died on that hill. There's nothing currently out there to suggest that for Dragonborn. No insiders aside from some contacts of my friends have outright said "holy ****, guys; here comes Dragonborn." People have taken to speculation and theorycrafting. Some insiders have left very cryptic hints to other insiders. That being said, there isn't the full on confidence that many insiders had for Steve. The people who are the most confident in this have kind of yeeted themselves out of existence or avoid the topic entirely. This is also why I've been getting a lot of **** because I'm confident based on my own theorycrafting and going against insiders and contacts is (checks notes) supposedly death threat worthy according to the Smash fanbase but whatever... I literally have no attachment to the character so the number of people who are absolutely furious at me for making this prediction is miserably ironic. Fun fact; I've never played Skyrim.
3. People have been saying "No Doom Guy" for months now.
I keep warning people that taking messages at face value is probably a good idea. Grant Kirkhope is a composer. He has no ownership of the Banjo IP outside of the original music. He's no longer an employee of RARE either and hasn't been for a longtime either. I believe he's a free lance video game composer now. He can lie in whatever capacity he wants and nobody can fault him for it. In the cases of Travis, Sora, and Doom Guy, there's significantly less incentive for full-on executives to lie about this stuff. These are respected men in the industry and their words are worth a lot. They have authority and control over million dollar IPs. To be totally blunt, for them to outright lie would be really ****ing bad, especially for the two in Japanese business culture. Professionalism is taken with a degree of grave seriousness. People laugh and point out that "ha ha, Kamiya is such a scoundrel", yeah, but he's definitely an outlier and a lot of his colleagues full on resent him because of his lack of professionalism. Your typical executive is not going to tell fans to eat **** on Twitter. These guys are suit and tie for most of these things.
"Well, why would they tell the truth to random interviewers?" Because there's definitely a value in that and not thinking you can just freely lie to people because they're "not as important as you." This is why I have confidants as young as 14 and as old as late 40's because I hate the idea of assuming that people aren't trustworthy based on age alone. Plus, all in all, there's plenty of ways to avoid situations like this. As someone who has been interviewed for a wide variety of reasons over the reasons, you can specifically ask for questions to not be recorded. Sometimes people "oops" during interviews or just super uncomfortable with certain things being said being blasted. This being said, these men had absolutely no objections to saying "we have no plans for these characters in Smash at this time" being part of the public record even though they had the right and power to just flat out say "hey man, don't include that part in your write up or I will legally squash you because I did not consent to it." Brass tacks, interviews are all about consent and, yes, people can be sued if they don't respect interviewees requests.
So, there's all that...
So I'm Fatman's assistant? His sidekick, since i really enjoy reading your big posts i thought it would be fitting ^^
There you go, if you guys excuse me i have a giant essay about Geno to read
And so it begins, we’re in the endgame now bois
I mean the person he was responding to mentioned that a direct seemed close so his comment was just in response to that. He's not even saying that they are planning one at the moment just that they hope they'll be able to do one soon.View attachment 255825
Could be nothing, but the kings of being coy AKA GameXplain seems to be planning Direct predictions. Reminder that they also did direct predictions before that direct that Nintendo shadowdropped like two years ago
I’m not crying you’re crying
*Applauds.* Great points. You mentioned you're reason for thinking them. And I agree with all of it. Great job very good read. Hopefully we get Geno in!
Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. That's like saying World War 2 never happened because you live in Canada and didn't read the news.I mean, I've seen people get banned for being dismissive of more traditionally problematic behaviors and elements, but I've not seen any of the outright critical elements banned.
I don't need to try to make ResetEra look bad, it does a fine enough job of that on it's own. There's plenty of reasons to not like ResetEra, the most significant of which being their incredibly partisan views. Political topics shouldn't be discussed on forums such as this regardless of which side you're on, as they're inherently prone to causing heated disagreements amongst users, but more importantly are completely unrelated to the topics at hand. Most video game forums, such as Smashboards and even GameFAQs for example, do a good job of discouraging such discussion and keeping things on-topic, but ResetEra is different.Mods are people too who make mistakes, and we've seen that on literally every forum ever. I'm not defending ****ty behavior, but that's not like the norm over there any more than mods who have overextended on places like SmashBoards and it feels like you're pretty actively trying to frame ResetERA in a holistically negative way over a couple of temp bans.
Imagine being a person who hasn't seen Megamind. Imagine being a person who doesn't know who best boy Minion is.Wait...is this Megamind?
Forgive me, I've actually never seen Megamind so...who am I supposed to be here?
Look, I'll just say this. Posting an image in which people were banned for (with absolutely no context provided to any of those specific bans mind you): Transphobic comments, victim blaming, anti LGBTQ+ sentiments, and a history of trolling with sensitive topics is not exactly making the point you think it is. The vast majority of that stuff will also get you banned here.Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. That's like saying World War 2 never happened because you live in Canada and didn't read the news.

ResetEra as a website goes out of it's way to encourage political discussion, specifically political discussion of a politically left-leaning nature. On their "General Guide to ResetEra" they claim to be accepting of people who disagree with any number of things, however in practice it's not uncommon to hear of people getting banned for not only having political viewpoints that run counter to the generally left-leaning viewpoints, but even just having polite disagreements about such matters. It also doesn't help that what they consider hate speech or inflamitory is, according to the "General Guide to ResetEra" thread, are incredibly vague and ill-defined.
As a result, the website has gained a reputation as being incredibly overly sensitive and ban happy. This kind of reputation is exclusive to ResetEra and ResetEra alone. Say what you want about Smashboards or even GameFAQs Forums, but it's never been the popular observation that they are full of ban happy mods who operate on partisan lines. You don't see image like this being made about Smashboards:
This. Regardless, I think it's safe to say a very good portion of the smash fandom on the internet WANTS Geno at this point.Look, I'll just say this. But we'll drop it because it is off topic, has gotten this thread into trouble in the past. So we'll leave it at the disagreement and move on while people enjoy Fatman's essay.
This gives me hope for a direct this week. I just want to get this over with.View attachment 255825

Solid work Fatman, you certainly deserve that much respect for working on this for so long. But, one little thing...
I imagine that, if the leak is actually a leak, Nintendo’s keeping quiet about it completely until they’re both released, then doing a full investigation—waiting to not draw any suspicions whatsoever—then firing the individual responsible. My hopes is that Nintendo was fully aware of the cacomallow leak, but didn't want to cause a scene since they know it would bring more questions if they took action. Since that was the only thing that leaked they probably just found out who did it and took action, but did nothing with the videos. So, with that in mind, if fp 5 is indeed Dragonborn and it comes with cacodemon costume, the best thing to do would be to release Geno in the same direct. Otherwise, everyone is gonna be aware that Geno is coming since the cacodemon was with the mallow costume in that vid. That's my hope, at least.
Hey man, seriously nice job on this. I know most people outside the thread will probably dismiss it without reading it because "lol fatman", but at least in this loser's opinion, this piece was really well written and a joy to read.
Woah, hey pretty momma...ngl i thought you said Johnny Bravo
I don't think the Switch actually has a built-in mic, that being why they had to sideline voice chat to a phone app in the first place. It sucks, but hey, most people use Discord or other third-party external software for that anyway. Some things I’m kinda hoping for although it’d never happen...
The ability to voice chat without the stupid phone app. The app was a disaster, kill it already and just let us use the systems built in mic.
I can't say I didn't expect it to be big but when I'm still groggy and brain dead, it be like that.
Actually pretty good meme right here.I can't say I didn't expect it to be big but when I'm still groggy and brain dead, it be like that.
