I trust Sabi Have from the start she’s been 100% honest and told us who or what the possible character could be.

But we’ll find out who it is in time!

Definetly trustworthy but that’s just me.

*Plays People Without Hope theme from Chrono Trigger*

Hmm, factoring in yet again the names that have been checked-off as potentially being the 5th DLC Fighter, here are some names to think about in the meantime (some of course have already been mentioned).

Capcom
-Phoenix Wright
-Viewtiful Joe
-Amaterasu
-Arthur
-Morrigan Aensland (... uh... actually... *remembers what happened to Mai*)

Bandai Namco
-Nightmare
-Klonoa
-Valkyrie
-KOS-MOS
-Chosen Undead
-Agumon (Pikachu: "Ah yes. My TRUE rival. We finally meet.")
-Taizo/Susumi (Dig Dug/Mr. Driller respectively)

Konami
-Goemon (I know he's a Mii Costume, but still; prior to the Fighters Pass, the Ganbare Goemon/Mystical Ninja hadn't been represented in Smash in any shape or form)
-Master Higgins (Adventure Island, just in case)
-TwinBee
-Pyramid Head

Taito
-Bub/Bob (Bubble Bobble)

LEVEL-5
-Professor Layton
-Jibanyan (Pikachu: "Finally, a worthy opponent. Our battle will be legendary." *MENACING*)

Idea Factory
-Neptune (Nep Nep!)

Marvelous
-Travis Touchdown
-Farmer (Story of Seasons; formerly known as Harvest Moon. Villager: "Finally, a worthy opponent. Our battle will be legendary." *MENACING*)

I apologize if I forgot to mention other names.
You forgot the Contra bois.

Travis is owned by Grasshopper Manufacture, Marvelous is only publishing No More Heroes 3.

So from what I’ve seen If Nightmare he honestly seems like a great character representation Soul Caliber wouldn’t mind if he got in.

Id’d be awesome.

Also, what the hell happened? A character who had several points in their favor for the few days just got deconfirmed? That's, what, 20 characters deconfirmed as character 5? Is Smash turning into a Slasher flick?

I don't trust either of them, though I think I'd sooner trust Verge at this point. Everything related to Sabi has just gotten worse and worse, from a "Cease and Desist" debacle that never got explained, to transphobic comments, to whatever the hell mini-meltdown about the Maxwell leak was, to this recent slew of "deconfirmations" that scream attention seeking behavior when there has never been any proof in regard to any of these deconfirmations for #5 other than their word, and they somehow didn't get the one actual legitimate deconfirmation of Resident Evil right at that. Even if Sabi is right and actually knows #5, I think they deserve all the criticism in the world for how they've handled this process. You can just say, "I know #5 but telling you would endanger my source" or something along those lines, or just nothing if it's really that sensitive because that would be the proper thing to do. It's just bad behavior all around and I can't believe the Smash community is so desperate for news (like we didn't just get Terry and a confirmation of more fighters) that they put up with it so willingly.
Imagine using what someone said in a private argument with someone else that was misconstrued and already taken care of as a basis to not believe them in regards to something totally unrelated.

This is why I question your stances on things.

All the rumoured characters are fighting for the fifth spot. Sadly our boy Geno, Doom Slayer, Scorpion, Dante, and Lloyd are down though their chance to join the roster may come in the future. Thankfully

Only one can prevail in this fight only one can rise to become fighter #5

Who will win this great battle and stand onstage to at the Microsoft theatre on December 12th.

The awnser in two weeks.

Okay, so my epiphany... Every pass has had only two returning Mii costumes from Smash 4 at most, right? Let's dissect this:

Joker- Knuckles and Tails
Hero- None
Banjo- Protoman and Zero
Terry- Akira and Jacky
???- ??? and ???

Going back to the Power of Six Theory, there's decent evidence that every Pack was originally going to have 6 Mii costumes.

Based on how Joker came out supposedly before Season 2 was green lit during the summer, makes sense that he's a perfect 6. Hero only has 4 with coincidentally the only possible returning and logical Mii costumes in the pack being Geno and the Chocobo hat. Banjo's a little tricky. He has five but also two returning Mii costumes, Zero and Proto Man. This stands to reason that there was originally 6 and, based on the numbers, was probably also another Capcom given it has four left at this point. This then fits in line with Terry, two returning Mii costumes Akira and Jacky with strong conjecture that Heihachi would have been a third based on the theme. Now, let's check our notes on what's left...

Three Capcom and Two Namco. Insert this into a hypothetical #5, this leaves only 1 empty spot for a full costume pass, probably one for the Namco series. Under this train of thought, it would be 3 Namco and 3 Capcom. Perfectly balanced and all Smash 4 costumes have returned.

Now, what does this mean? If Heihachi was "subtracted" from Terry, could it stand to reason that he would be added to 5, especially if the original plan seems to heavily imply that Gil and Lloyd were originally going to be Mii costumes for #5? In this new scenario, Heihachi and Gil are the most likely "+2" for returning Mii costumes because, all in all, Lloyd had the biggest chance of being promoted by a long shot, making his absence similar to Geno. Another thing to note, Gil and Lloyd are sword fighters, along with two of the remaining Capcom Mii costumes, both Monster Hunter ones. Seems to be a theme... Curious...

Of everyone on this list, if I had to now pick a frontrunner I have to go with Nightmare

Stance Changing is a perfect DLC gimmick, Siegfried could be an alt, and let's not forget Link guest starring way back when in Soul Calibur 2! It's about time Link and Nightmare had a rematch

You know it's pretty characteristic of Travis to kill everyone in his way like this.

Not to mention Heihachi isn't even out of place with a Soulcalibur character at all if he was moved there to replaec Lloyd. He's obviously a Namco rep but also one from their other premier fighting franchise and appeared as a guest character in Soulcalibur 2.

Exactly! It's important to note that both Lloyd and Heihachi have appeared in Soul Caliber.

Wow. Lloyd was honestly looking so likely. Who is left?!? Dam. From the list that YDisciple made, I think Phoenix, Nightmare, Amaterasu, Kos-Mos, Agumon, Chosen Undead, Travis Touchdown and Professor Layton have the best chance. Or we could get Kratos of all characters. Who knows

Fatmanonice Fatmanonice With the revelation of Lloyd not being it, is there any more credence in my idea from the other day of Nightmare being in the Banjo position of being hidden behind a high-vis character (Steve/Lloyd) who only starts coming and making the rounds amongst the lower-level insiders relatively shortly before reveal?

Because Nightmare is looking super likely now and I’m all for it.

EDIT: Keep in mind that Nintendo has also crossed over with SoulCalibur, since Link was in SCII on the GameCube version. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but other than Project X Zone, it still stands as the only non-Nintendo fighting game where a Nintendo character has crossed over into being a guest fighter, so to have a Soul Calibur like Nightmare (who is literally the logo for the Project Soul Division that makes Soul Calibur, he’s the game’s mascot the same way Scorpion is for Mortal Kombat) cross over the way into into Smash makes a lot more sense than people realize, and that would be an awesome piece of history to be realized, on top of Nightmare also being a villain DLC rep, *and* a fighting game character, *and* an anime sword wielder. He covers like all the bases haha.

EDIT 2: *and* a heavyweight fighter, *and* someone who can follow Color Theory and have an orange background

A. Just because it was said in private doesn’t believe make it any less transphobic or acceptable.

B. You’re still cherry picking one detail out of my entire analysis of why Sabi shouldn’t be listened to. They’ve had nothing of merit to say since E3 and have been increasingly desperate for attention over the past few months, culminating in this desperate need to always say something without no committing to anything like they have. The Maxwell debacle, the fact they didn’t give Terry until after SNK copyright happened (because, yeah, that means nothing at that point), they’re absolute handwaving of a Cease and Desist letter that should have stopped them talking about Nintendo but claiming it totally happened, the Rare Replay call that never happened, etc. There’s an additional body of evidence that points to them not being worth the time of day.

My thoughts:

-Fighter's Pass was originally final. Namco being the last company represented makes a ton of sense based on my "Thank You" theory.

-Lloyd actually fits more in line with rumors for Post Pass than the Fighter's Pass. 1. Much more fanservicey. 2. A Mii costume promotion like Geno. 3. Has a significant amount of longevity in the Smash fanbase.

-Strong evidence for Geno being "cut" from Hero gives a new perspective that Heihachi was "cut" from Terry and that Lloyd was hypothetically "cut" from #5 for similar reasons. Actually... I just had an epiphany... Give me a sec...
So... based off of this post and then the next one about the Power of 6, are you implying Nightmare is Fighter #5? You seem very confident about Bandai Namco being #5, and if you say Lloyd is likely post pass, and Heihachi hasn't been heard/is likely a delayed Mii costume...

Is Nightmare our next likely character until he gets deconfirmed? Personally, while I have no attachment to Soul Calibur, I would be all for more villains in Smash.

Can we be in a agreeable that there isn't a likely character to be the Fifth Fighter? It can be anyone, it can be a character that you know or a character that never cross your mind, but it ain't going to be Waluigi.

Is there a source for the transphobic claims? Because they follow me on Twitter and I post a lot of trans stuff on my Twitter. This stuff is very important to me. :/

I only played Soul Calibur 2 or 3 a long time ago for only a little bit. With that said, Soul Calibur seems interesting and Nightmare would be sick. The only thing is that, looking at the history of character inclusions, Sakurai always put in the main character before the villain. That could change, but that still makes me skeptical that he could get in. Though he has the bonus of being iconic and stands out among the crowd.
