Well that's a bummer. There's a lot of characters I want more just to have them in, but Lloyd would fit my playstyle more than any other DLC character I could think of outside of maybe 2B and Dante. I hope at the very least he's still a possibility for post-pass.

Fatmanonice Fatmanonice feel free to ignore this if you can't/don't want to answer, but the question I wanted to ask was if of the names you've heard, any have little to virtually no western appeal at all. Assuming Doomguy is a 10 for western appeal, a Resident Evil rep is an 8 or 9, Joker is a 6, Hero/Lloyd would be like a 4 or 5, is there anyone that would be considered a 3 or lower (examples: Monokuma, Laharl, Marth and Roy in 2001, etc)? Don't know where Sol would be placed, so let's just ignore him here. Obviously no pressure to answer as I said.

Wait was Lloyd Deconfirmed for FP#5 or Deconfirmed for DLC Altogether
It's not clear, but the tweet from Sabi reads as if it is for DLC (period). Fatmanonice Fatmanonice hate asking, but would you happen to know what they meant? Also, now that GX video is suspect...

With Lloyd out, KOS-MOS to me makes the most likely Namco rep for the 5th fighter. She's the crossover character Namco uses, for any game they feel she fits right in.

Well Llyod not being 5 is disappointing but the chances were always only one character would ever be aimed at me and I got Banjo so whoever 5 turns out to be I still got the dream. I was starting to think Llyod was safe since Sabi's source were taking forever. Oh well, that's a shame.

Honestly...what if it IS KOS-MOS? She falls into the 'out of nowhere' category, but as a thank you to not only Namco...but to Monolith Soft as well!

Sakurai has praised Monolith for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and the absence of Rex/Pyra is kind of shocking. It should not be out of the realm of KOS-MOS being a thank you letter to two companies at one time.

EDIT: Though if it is not a Namco Rep...then perhaps it IS a Nintendo Rep to finish the pass.

Honestly, I'd like KOS-MOS' move set potential for similar reasons to Geno's, so, uh...

Needless to say, I have no qualms with her making it in at all.

can we humor Klonoa vs. Nightmare now
I jokingly talked about Klonoa with a bunch of other people on Discord a while ago. Imagine him having a DK-like cargo throw but instead of launching the opponent forward it just shoots them straight down.
Btw, play Klonoa 1 and 2 if you haven't. Those games were amazing!

The fact that Nightmare actually falls into my "Thank You" theory and how Lloyd falls much more inline with the names heard for post pass is pretty great. This is weirdly a good turn of events: it adds more evidence that post pass will be super fanservicey and that most people won't expect #5.

I owe a huge apology to Fatmanonice Fatmanonice

I did assume that you had major insider info that could’ve potentially decided who FP5 was. I was skeptical, of course, but given the way that the community was acting about Lloyd, it really made me think that you potentially knew about him before anyone else.

After this, it is clear to me that you are indeed a speculator like the rest of us, but you hear rumors from time to time. That should’ve been clear to me when you thought that Ryu Hayabusa was FP5 a month ago.

So long-time lurker, first time poster here, I've been thinking over in my head for the last few days on whether or not 5 would actually be Lloyd, and when I looked over what people have been thinking and saying it made way more sense in my head for him to be post-pass rather than number 5. Enjoy this crackpot theory/ramble.

For one, Lloyd had a Mii costume in Smash 4, pretty obviously due to the ballot, yet unlike pretty much every other DLC Mii Costume, he got NOTHING in the base game. Inklings, K.Rool, Chrom, and Isabelle are all playable, Zero, Akira, Knuckles, and Black Knight are all new assist trophies, Heihachi and Gil are part of Pac-Mans taunt, Protoman got into Mega Mans Final Smash, Monster Hunter got an entire boss fight, and even our boy Geno got one of the strongest and most unique spirit fights in the game. Every single other Smash 4 mii costume was from a character already in the game either as playable already, or as an Assist Trophy, part of a stage, or another characters moveset/Final Smash. Lloyd is the ONLY exception to this except for Jacky, who came with Akira. If Sakurai actually planned for Lloyd to be in the game, why would he be DLC? Namco was clearly ok with him being in Smash 4, they literally developed the game with Sora, so if he was actually in it's not like his rights would be hard to negotiate. Even if he was planned for base game and then pushed off into DLC, why would he be the LAST character in the original DLC plan? It just doesn't make sense.

Going back to the whole Power of 6 Mii Costume Theory, people assume that it helped Lloyd for Number 5, but why? The fact that Heihachi suspiciously didn't release with the fighting game costumes means that, according to the theory, it was moved to release with someone else, likely another Namco rep. But if Lloyd was planned for 5 why didn't they just plan the Heihachi costume to release with Lloyd in the first place? Because he wasn't planned. Based on what Fatman said about 6 and 7 likely being made with existing smash assets, and what Sabi is saying about Lloyd not being 5, in my mind It's extremely likely that Lloyd, and by proxy, Geno, are the fist 2 characters we actually get for post-pass DLC.

On the upside, #5 will probably be a surprise so that's nice.
But what happened to all of the Lloyd evidence and the Tales of news happening soon? It didn't sound like you were talking about Lloyd being post pass (though maybe I missed that).

So... is Nightmare Fighter #5 now or?...
And Sabi didn't say Tales of chances for Fighter #5, it was for Smash in general. So what exactly does that mean?

Edit: @Serenade01 guess you'll be happy about Lloyd not being Fighter #5, huh? I for one am sorry towards his fans who thought it seemed likely. His chances are still good for post pass DLC though!

and lloyd gets sniped right after a near-consensus agreement that he was #5 by process of elimination. lol

i just want to express that its moments like these that make the thread/speculation scene for me. its the gaming equivalent of a roller coaster. good grief, its like we were on this set track towards lloyd and right when we were about to reach it, the ride dips down and we lose our sense of equilibrium as we realize that, oh ****, sakurai is at it again taking us somewhere we didnt expect

lmfao

its possible we might catch wind of who #5 is a day or two before the fact like what happened with terry but im enjoying having no idea who it is right now. im considering going dark a little before the vgas to maximize the shock value

First off, welcome to Smashboards, I like your avatar. Second, when it comes to Lloyd as FP5, most people began to suspect him because:
1 - He was a Mii Costume that hasn't come back yet, which is pretty suspicious all things considered.
2 - He's probably the most likely Namco character after Heihachi, and since Sakurai mentioned that he decided against including him as a DLC fighter for Smash 4 due to concerns about being able to correctly represent his fighting style in Smash, Lloys seemed like the most likely candidate.
And 3 - Tales Of recently got some new trademarks that seem like they'd be used for something like Smash, namely the title of "Tales Of Series" and the book icon. Since we haven't seen they used for anything yet, it was assumed that they'd be for Smash.

Yup. Grade A weaboo waifu trash tier right there :4pacman:.

And yes...she has a minigun, but that is not all! She really is a swiss army of weapons. (Minigun, swords, scythe, bazooka, handguns, laser cannon, etc)
You'e peaked my interest and you've gotten my attention. Please, tell me more.

Took care of my business. Won’t be away long so can see everything coming up glad to hear it.

Anyway Lloyd’s been done in For fighter #5 huh? Oh well... Sad to hear cause I wanted him in but so be it. Looking forward to whoever it is regardless.

Really going to be someone we don’t expect.

I’m super thankful to Sabi for keeping us upgraded. Thanks to her.

The swiss army of weapons thing nails it. That's also why I feel Geno has so much potential that his debut (and only) game didn't do justice for. He's a little star in a tiny puppet with a LOT OF POTENTIAL. He could have all kinds of weaponry installed into him and tweaked to make different things happen. A blade out of star energy? Sure! Star-spangled bazookas? Alright! Becoming a cannon for no explicable reason? Uh, sure, yeah! How about becoming a TANK? A helicopter? Using his arms as boomerangs? Guns in his legs? Laser eyes? Lasers from his mouth? Claws inside his fingers? Whips and lashes out of star magic? The possibilities for him are SOOOO ENDLESS and that's what I'd LOVE to see brought out of him. It would be SO cool.

Imagine if Geno and KOS-MOS both got in. Fights between those two... That'd be so rad.

I understand why people though 5 was Lloyd due to the amount of circumstantial evidence piling up for him, I just think my """"theory""""" could also be a possibility, and one that seems slightly more plausible now that Lloyd is apparently out. 5 could also be another Namco character, but I think we just have to wait and see what Verge says before jumping to anymore conclusions.
