How exactly would Dark Souls work in Smash? I'm probably just uninformed, but to my knowledge, the series doesn't use much more than standard sword swings and dodging/rolling out of the way of attacks. And stamina, I think, but that wouldn't be very fun in Smash.

Well there are various weapons and spells. But if they want to get crazy they could always use a boss like Artorias (would be hilarious if that actually happens).

I've been wondering that as well. I just assume I'm ignorant though, and that Sakurai could (of course) come up with a cool moveset for a Dark Souls character.

What original characters do spike chunsoft have to offer? All I can think of from them are mediocre anime fighters
(You were supposed to be good Jump Force :/ )

Probably emphasize rolling as well as all the unique moves In the game to really make it feel like dark souls

I'd be down for Artorias because his final smash would be the great wolf.

Solaire/Chosen Undead can also use swords, Great Swords, Axes, Halberds, Hammers, Spears, Claws, Bows and Whips
Personally I would use the Great Sword and Hammers for smash attacks, Axes and Swords for normals, and whips and stuff for throws, and aerials can be whatever weapon you want
The specials would be the spells in the game
He could have less launch resistance then anyone else but would have incredible rolls

$10 says that Dark Souls character is equipped with an Estus Flask and is able to heal themselves like 3 times in battle. That's like their Down-B move

I just want a stage cameo of Priscilla. I've never played a Dark Souls game, but I've always sort of considered it just to see her.

I'm sorry to break it to you, but Super Smash Bros. is for good little boys and girls.

This, but I'm not quite sold on Dark Souls appearing in Smash anyway. So I'll have to see my giant wife some other time.
Sorry but Dancer of the Boreal Valley is arguably better. She big, she got a scythe, and she got a veil. Priscilla is too naughty for Smash but not Dancer. :ultkrool:

If they have fighter 5 before the VGA's, I think it will be Lloyd but if it's revealed at the VGA's, I think it will be a Dark Souls rep.

Do you think it's plausible for them to add in new bosses at all before Ultimate's support is over?

As cool as it would be, I feel like the development time is too precious for them to be doing that. If anything I think we'd get returning bosses like Rayquaza and Porky, which I'd be all for.

You know, it would be great to get a third party character that's an actual villain. That's why I'm rooting for Heihachi because not only is he a main character that would be consider to be playable in Smash Bros but he's also a villain. Smash Bros need more villains, so might as well outsource one.

Honestly I feel like in terms of indies. FNAF, Shantae, Quote, Reimu, and Hollow Knight are the only ones left standing. Freddy, The Knight, and Quote I actively support, while Shantae and Reimu would be cool.
Also wynn728 wynn728 would Freddy be good as a villain? Even tho he isn't the main villain?

Freddy is a robot that's haunted by a dead kid. If anything Springtrap would be a great choice for villain. But I don't think we'll get a FNAF character any time soon since the major appeal to their horror is their simplicity and standing still while looking unsettling. Honestly Mii Costume is the best route and I say that as a FNAF fan. It's hard to imagine making a faith moveset out of the FNAF character, FNAF World maybe.

True, true. I would love a FNAF character, and I have seen many movesets get Freddy right by making him unsettling with creepy moves. But Freddy isn't a villain, he is a misguided kid. Also I didn't know that you were a FNAF fan. interesting.

Springtrap is one of the only "characters" that actually has character in FNAF

I was never able to beat super ghouls and ghosts until last year roughly, and i had to use the save states and rewind feature of the snes classic.

But idc, that game had plagued me since my childhood, it along with road riot 4wd, and super Mario world, were the 3 first games I ever owned, yet it was the only one I could never beat. In fact probably the main reason i held on to my original cartridge was with the hope that some day I’d go back and beat it. I might not have done it on the original hardware, but damnit I finally got to the ending screen of that game and that was what was important to me.

As for arthur in smash? Sure why not, but be warned folks.... if his mvc appearance is anything to go by, he’ll be a nightmare and annoyance to face, as he’ll be a projectile camper/zoner. He’ll be like the belmonts on steroids.

PsychoIncarnate PsychoIncarnate kinda? Ultimate Custom Night gives dialogue to most of the crew, giving them personalities. Also Michael is the hero trying to make up for his father's actions, and ditto for Henry but replace father with business partner. But I think Freddy would be based off his appearance in FNAF and FNAF 2 primarily. Maybe some Freddy's 3. But mostly Freddy's 1 & 2. Give him his laughter and looking at the cameras as taunts.
also how the hell did I get ranting about Freddy in Smash again?

I know I'm gonna piss some folks off with this comment....but I'd really hope they choose any indie character other than a FNAF one.

The only reason FNAF even got popular was due to game theory giving it free promotion. I also hated the turn FNAF took with it's "Story", the original game was loosely inspired by a real event that happened at a chuck e cheese's in the 90s, and IMO fnaf was way creepier when it was just that. But then it decided to add so many ridiculous plot points with sequels, and everything got so bloated that it was no longer scary or even remotely creepy.

I mean, gratz to the developer and all as he realized he had a gold mine and ran with it, and did so in a really clever way that ensured he'd make bank, but damn I really wish he would have quit at the second game.

Of course also I just feel like Shantae is more deserving, so there's that too, I feel she deserves a spot before all other indies. She was the OG indie when indie developer or indie games wasn't even a real term yet.

However, like I've stated in the past, as long as Geno get's in, IDC what other game characters get in, I might not like the choice, or feel someone else is more deserving, but I'd learn to accept it. The only characters i'd NEVER support, and would actively protest, are cartoon and comic book characters like DBZ goku.

So the people of this thread have been discussing Bandai Namco and Capcom characters that could make it in, so let me pose a question for the people of this thread:

For Bandai Namco, would you rather have Lloyd or Heihachi? (Or, to be more general in my question, a Tales of character vs. a Tekken character, since I know there was debate in this thread who would represent Tales of.)

For Capcom, would you rather have a Resident Evil character or Dante?

Please explain the why you picked the character you chose.

P.S.: Honorable mentions go out to a Dark Souls character and Pheonix Wright, but I feel as if those characters will only get in if some certain set of circumstances occur with them (like for Dark Souls, I see a rep from that game being good for Fighter #5, but if they aren't, I can't see them over Lloyd and/or Heihachi for post-pass DLC).

Edit: This doesn't necessarily have to be Fighter #5 specific, I'm more so talking in general.

Capcom: I can't figure it out.

I've never played a tales game, but I'd rather have Lloyd if he ends up as FP5. if a namco character was part of season 2, Then I'd be fine with Heihachi since I've actually played a few of the tekken games and loved em. I just don't feel two traditional fighting game characters back to back would set well with most people.

RE for the capcom. Simply because it's been around a bit longer than DMC and it defined the horror game genre for a whole generation. It'd also be neat to see how they handle a RE character.

I'm having trouble between Capcom as well. Honestly, I'd be fine with either Bandai Namco character, but deciding between Resident Evil and Devil May Cry is... difficult. On the one hand, Resident Evil is a lot bigger, and it probably the biggest 3rd party franchise not in Smash. However, I think Dante would fit a little better style and moveset wise. He is like Bayonetta and Doom Slayer in my eyes, where he has this somewhat cartoonish, over the top spunk that would allow him to fit. I suppose Dante does have a more readily available moveset, but I'm sure Sakurai could really do something interesting with a Resident Evil character. Maybe some type of resource management?

I'd be willing to bet that we'll get another Capcom character (probably one of these franchises), but I don't know which one I'd prefer. I see arguments for both sides. However, I do think Resident Evil is a touch more likely to be getting a character.

I kinda want Claire, if we're talking Resident Evil. With a Leon alt like Olimar/Alph. Relevance might not be the biggest factor in Sakurai choosing a character, but with the RE2 remake being relatively recent, those two would probably be the best choice if they wanted to pull in the current RE crowd.

Namco: Heihachi cause he'd finish up the "Fighting game crossover" aspect as Tekken is a massive fighting game franchise.
Capcom: Dante cause I have a friend who would absolutely love Dante to get in though I would choose Phoenix if given the opportunity.

Now for who's likelier?
Namco: Lloyd
Capcom: Resident Evil character

I’ve seen some people try, and I could actually see it happening, Some Movesets have done pretty good jobs at mixing Horror, some creepiness, and just plain absurdity into a Freddy moveset, just like the games

I mean, it’s unnecessarily confusing yeah, but where the series shines is it’s Self Awareness, the excellent VR Game, and the Lore can actually be really good sometimes
