So, I'm probably not alone in feeling like Paper Mario (N64) is the true successor to Legend of the Seven Stars - I mean, aside from it being announced/teased under the name Mario RPG 2, there was something about the humorous writing, the gameplay, and the scenario in general that felt like a real sequel, with the obvious tragedy that it was missing Geno (and Mallow I guess if I have to put in a good word for him), but something that I sort of subconsciously noticed and never really paid any attention to just came back to my mind last night:

Wtf is Nintendo doing with their lives that they kept the right to use this particular NPC but not any of the characters people actually gave a damn about?
  1. They're probably not meant to be the same character (the one on the left is Merlon, don't know who the one on the right is).
  2. If they are, he was likely one of the characters not owned by Square Enix.

The SMRPG render is just a generic "shaman" enemy and sometimes shopkeep.

Well, the design is rather generic.
If we put a hat on either one of them they'd be Black Mage, not to mention that apparently SE owns Boshi somehow? That's a "fact" gathered from this thread though so it might not be entirely valid.

Not Geno related, but someone online got a hold of a copy of Pokemon Sword/Shield and a lot of picture leaks of new currently unrevealed Pokemon such as starter evolutions are surfacing online. Just wanted to mention this here in case any of you wish to remain unspoiled.

Yeah we know. Since my hype for this game had died around E3 this year, I personally don't care about spoilers. In fact, I welcome it.

Maybe they'll leak something that'll make the games worth buying...

Same. My apathy can't be contained on this one.

I WISH, but highly doubt it unless they've been developing an entirely different game alongside this one. You know, one with mainline console graphics and no cheesy excuses for being trash.

Sobble and Grookey evos, Sobble becomes emo and Grookey becomes a drummer.
New fox mon, evolves into bigger fox.
New Elephant mon that we caught a glimpse of during one of the directs, it was the one Chairman Rose uses.
Derpy dino thingy, Poison/Electric type.
Galarian Meowth, evolves into a new mon called Purrzerker, Steel type.
Grookey final evo leaked, it's called Rillaboom and has a big drum.

I've been keeping up with it. What a trainwreck. They say the fire starter
becomes Fire/Electric

which is cool but overall not worth it.

In the story, Team Yell is doing something bad, and the player character crosses paths with them. :troll:
next you'll tell me that the undefeated champion of the region is defeated by the player character.

what a load of bull.

This site already has a dedicated Sword and Shield thread here. Please take the leak discussion there, though keep the leaked material in spoiler tags - I'd rather not have someone come to the Geno thread and be unexpectedly spoiled on Pokemon Sword and Shield, a completely unrelated game.

Sobble final evo leaked, looks like garbage.

Okay, noted.

Quick! If we're lucky maybe we'll find a Geno leak in the Pokemon Sw&Sh thread!

I'll check that out when I get the chance. As I'm not getting The games but still stolked for them. So I don't mind spoilers. Course I won't say anything about them on the Pokemon character support threads or anywhere else. Not going to do that.

Anyway seems like Terry could be coming soon based on everything regarding the SNK logo being in the latest spirit event! I look forward to what he brings stage, music, and content wise!

Regarding rumors about Kosmos and Reimu they seem like cool characters representing Xenosaga and Tohou respectively and I'd welcome them with open arms!

Good question can fire bullets, launch himself like a rocket! Float in the air has the Geno Whirl!

Maybe fire/Fairy?

Yeah I think Grumbo has the right idea. Grass/Fairy.

Good idea by him!

If Geno was a pokemon what type(s) would he have?
Wood hammer the Pokémon Move is Grass and he is a fairy star of sorts inhabiting a wooden doll so maybe grass fairy but fire has an equal argument. Maybe steel with the cannon balls or the association with metal

It's funny how a question that Ovaltine asked - consistently the most positive person in this thread - has sparked almost two pages worth of posts that feel kind of dejected.

This entire week has seen huge positivity for Geno, no reason to end it on such a low note. We'll have our boy soon enough, all the signs point to it, and if I'm wrong... Well, no better hill to die on than Star Hill.

I did get to thinking last night, though, that if they intend to give us Fighter 5 with Terry's information trailer, they're not going to drop it on us out of the blue like with Joker. It's been pretty obvious for a while that if there's going to be a new character reveal, they don't want it to be spoiled for anyone, so they've made sure to only show characters off during presentations that have been announced.
I mean, nothing has changed since September 4th for or against Geno. I don't really see this week as any different, especially once all the leaks become a cluster**** of absolutely nothing as nobody knows what's next or even what is coming down the line. He's got a good chance as always when new characters are in play for Ultimate (I think it's a little unreasonable to expect him as Fighter's Pass #5 though).

It's also just I genuinely don't believe Geno has a snowball's chance in hell if he doesn't make it here when the future will likely only be harder for characters, and if he couldn't win against Cloud and Hero the first time, he sure as hell won't win against them now that they're returning veterans and people stay attached to the existing characters unlike anything I've ever seen. Hell, a Geno in Smash but 50% of the roster decimated by a future game would largely just be a giant Pyrrhic victory in my eyes and would take away any enjoyment of him getting in anyway. So, it's very much a, "Do this now while it means so much to people and he can be a part of everything that he's been around for years (Ridley, King K. Rool, Banjo & Kazooie, etc.), and not in the future when his inclusion will be less impactful. Now or never." Keep in mind, "now" could very well be at any point in the next 3 years depending on how long Ultimate gets supported, but I think Ultimate is the make or break moment for him.

Okay, given that, I'm certain we'll all still want to see Geno in a game again regardless, so if Geno doesn't make it into Ultimate, then what? What's our plan B? Push to get him into Mario Kart? Future Mario games?

At the risk of starting some kind of thread-wide flamewar I've I would be completely content with a massively reduced roster that utilized alternate costumes and kept the 3rd-party bloat way down

Like if Sakurai told me tomorrow "this is the roster for the Smash reboot" I'd 100% fine with it

Its a decent list but I just dont really like the concept of a smash reboot in general. Honestly if we get first party cuts in Smash 6 im probably sticking to Ultimate

This, I kinda hate the idea of Smash 6 now with how much we've been spoiled for Ultimate.

honestly? just port Ultimate for eternity, maybe promoting ATs/Mii costumes into playable between, or adding some more that otherwise missed the original post DLC

Wow. That roster has 44 characters (almost double of Melee and more than Brawl) yet feels so incredibly tiny. Man, if this was the roster for Smash 6 I'd be so torn. I love Geno and Isaac so much but losing Greninja and Cloud would be such a huge kick to the nuts. At least there's still Wolf...

THIS. SO MUCH THIS. Porting Ultimate forever is their best bet because I'm 99% sure that Ultimate is going to be the next Melee. Unless Smash 6 has some ABSURDLY good new modes, characters, mechanics, etc. I really don't see myself converting over.

The thing to keep in mind is that it's not a question of should they but will they. Most of these people especially at the top like themselves as artists of sorts and sakurai is no different. The idea of just repasting ultimate over and over might not go over well with his vision for the future.
