1. I'm mostly being goofy because it's arguably the same situation as PP, something that plenty of people knew about but still didn't believe it anyways. Nobody totally knows if it's a joke or not which is why I'm not saying it out loud in case it's an honest to God leak.

2. Not really. People have speculated that Nintendo could cave for maybe ONE character but people aren't holding their breath. As far as people are concerned, ATs and Mii costumes are the ultimate death until evidence comes out to say otherwise.

3. No. I pretty sure Sakurai was dead serious about no non video game characters, even if he was wanting to throw massive curve balls.

What I remember is the 7 SE characters list leak got people fired and all of that was a result of a Sora fan in Vergeben's circle (KronoXV) getting upset it wasn't going to be Sora.

So I was looking through the smash4 section to see people react to the costume and interview but sadly it was locked up a few months before that was possible. Anyone active from that time that could point me to where geno fans migrated to or did organized speculation largely die out after that.

Are you hinting that Kojima will be the next DLC character or at the very least one of his characters even the ones which are much more associated with Konami? I wouldn't mind a pachinko machine tbh . Have a geno skin and start releasing pachinko outfits instead of mii costumes and everyone is happy

Woah! Seems like things are getting crazy! Terry is getting closer and closer. Definitely seems like we are getting a surprise drop on Nov 1st if the spirit list copyright points to anything. Also, after pass is fan characters akin to Banjo? That is kind of wild.

The fighters that come to mind are Geno, Lloyd Irving, Shantae, Crash. Wasn't around during the Sm4sh days so I am not 100% certain who the big names were that are not already in the game or a Mii costume or Assist Trophy.

I have a fear in the back of my mind that there could be a disappointment repeat this week. Last November 1st was the worse day for me that year. Not because of Smash but from a very bad personal experience which sprang up literally an hour before the Direct. Then, trying to look forward to even a brief silver lining from that problem by having the Smash Direct news to cheer me up was then shot down due to its (my opinion) terrible roster finale and that the Grinch Bull was fake with many hopefuls being crushed . It was an awful time.

So here we stand, a year since then. Rumors are floating that Terry is coming soon, naybe even November 1st. We are getting good news, but there's that fear that disappointment could repeat and that either character 5 is lackluster or Terry's showcase reveals a Geno mii costume.

There was talk of Geno for melee, but it was always shut down as impossible because of third party and that Nintendo and Square (barely Square-Enix) still weren't talking over the PlayStation/FF7 debacle.

Come Brawl era and SE was actually making games for Nintendo systems again so Geno was actually possible.

Ah, yeah that would've been before I was paying attention to the smash community.

I think #5 will go over well. All the names I've heard may not be often requested but all signs right now point to the bonus characters being mostly on par with Banjo in terms of fanservice. Yeah, there could still be curve balls (including one potential one that might as well be a sign of the End Times) but currently it looks like Sakurai was very serious of bringing in more fan requests for wrapping up the roster. That said, I really wouldn't stress the coming days too much.

Maybe what I'm going to say sounds too positive or it may seem silly but if Geno does join Smash, I feel that Operation Starfall played an important role in all of this because I don't think Nintendo would read 400 letters sent by fans asking Geno as a fighter in Smash in a respectful way and explaining how they met the game and became fond of the character just to say "you know what? let's turn it into a mii costume again for sure they will be happy with that"

Sadly I don't think Isaac will ever actually happen. He was an Assist Trophy in Brawl, they did nothing for him in Smash 4, they took all that request they heard just made him an Assist again, and then we got Piranha Plant & 5 third party characters in a row. I feel Sakurai had made it clear that he doesn't want to work on Isaac at all.

It's definitely one of those things where there's not just a lot of guests visiting the Smash board, it's a lot of guests visiting the Geno thread. Which begs the question of whether some of these guests may know somethin' that we don't...

Then again, this is likely one of the more active threads, and on top of that, is where Fatman has posted stuff that may pique everyone's interest, so, that probably isn't all that surprising. Still, though - the hustle and bustle makes me wonder what's about to happen...

Come Brawl era and SE was actually making games for Nintendo systems again so Geno was actually possible.

I was around for pre-Melee, and Geno rarely came up. The Mario names that came up the most were Wario (one of the most wanted characters period at the time, probably the second or third most wanted after Ganondorf) and Toad (lots of requests for him up until being shown as a Peach special). There was also some suggesting Waluigi as well (to come with Wario). I think I saw a few suggest Paper Mario (much less than pre-Brawl and pre-Smash 4 though).

Geno did not take off as a character request until the summer of 2006, after the Brawl unveil at E3 2006.

Also, to Fatmanonice, I want to ask you a few questions, but I am not sure whether you would be comfortable giving me the answers in public, but you have no way of having a PM. Is there anyway we can have a private chat?
