At this rate, we are going to have every single character on the planet get confirmed before Geno. Looking forward to playing as something stupid like Para-Octorok or insert shill Disney licensed character here.

I bet the Starling isn't even for us at this point and it will just be Grinch 2.0.

All I want to know is if he is going to be in this game or not. I am already afraid of disappointment. I don't want a Plant 2.0 scenario just because some **** head decides to be cheeky and lead us onto a trail only to just troll us.

I know I am sounding a bit harsh and I don't necessarily mean this but this is just a waste of my time at this point. I am just so damn sick of being mislead and mocked about getting my hopes up...

It might not be a bad idea to take a break from speculation. If it's driving you this batty, it can't be healthy

Even if it does, I doubt it pertains to Smash.

It's been three weeks and so now I can say I think that Starling bird picture has nothing to do with Geno or Smash and that honestly sucks it's been my main driving point of hope and for it to seemingly mean nothing is a pain.

See the harm of hope & trying to remain optimistic can do? That's why I remain a pessimistic. I believe in nothing and that's why we all got to adjust our expectation and prepare for the worst. Sure the Geno Mii Costume didn't show up with The Hero, but it can always show up later a long with the others. Remember how sometimes they just release batches of Mii Costume during Smash Bros 4? Best to expect nothing.

Not too surprised by no announcement. The Starling is the longest running hint right now. The biggest thing is Geno's Mii Costume has not returned. That is HUGE for us.

Why on Earth did they not wait for Hero at EVO? It makes sense, but again, Nintendo has their own agenda.

With our luck, they are just saving it for when Sora is revealed.....
Just thinking about it makes me sick.

Sure it's a neutral outcome and nothing bad happened plus I'm probably being a bit unfair but this is honestly annoying.

I already said this today, they always tell us after the fact, literally within like half an hour of whatever it is. Simply put, whatever it is wasn't at EVO. Now we're just going to have to wait for either a shadow drop or a Direct announcement in the coming weeks. That's all there is to it.

This is exactly what drives me nuts. We are the only group this happens to. Everything looks so promising but we get ****ed over so hard with anything that comes off as a coincidence. The Plant thing legitimately pisses me off to this day. I think I would lose it if we end up having things look so in Geno's favor only to get Sora/Disney instead and have all those piece of **** supporters just mock us like they always do.

That would be my breaking point.

Nintendo once again demonstrating that their support for this game really is skin deep. Despite having the highest viewership out of any game in EVO, they wound up being the only major company to not show anything at all.

Skin deep? Come on, we know for a fact that the support is better than Smash 4 at this point with all of the modes, bonus additions, and little things we've gotten for free in addition to a much more committed DLC plan that has brought new characters and series into Smash with so much more effort than what we saw on offer in Smash 4.

They had an EVO announcement, it was just before EVO like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter which both revealed stuff before EVO officially started. Those still count towards EVO even though they aren't unveiled at the show itself.

To the thread as a whole, really, nothing's changed in terms of Geno's chances (unless you were really counting on the picture to mean something at EVO). He's no closer to or further from being playable. There's no reason to despair right now.

If you're gonna tease Resident Evil. You use a crow.

If you're gonna tease Fire Emblem. You'd use an eagle for Black Eagles.

There's not many other options outside of it being for Smash. If it's not for Smash?

Mainly because this starling may have everybody's hopes up for something completely different than its meaning and that's just flat out depressing. At this point, I wish Sakurai would ******* come out and say "oh look, Geno will/won't be in because [Redacted]." It's just so annoying that I've spent the past month with my hopes up over a picture of a bird that may have nothing to do with Geno at all.

There's a Geno Spirit in Smash Bros, that should tell you everything you need to know. The character isn't deconfirm because they're a spirit, they're a spirit because there was no plan for them at all in the game. Geno isn't going to be DLC Fighter #4 or #5 and the idea of a bonus fighter coming in is a little ludicrous. Everyone, just give up. If you're upset then write to Sakurai & Nintendo. Make your voices heard. Don't expect it to work out.

I am all about being optimistic, but after a while, you get sick and tired. People just come to expect you to be a loser as it goes on. If it wasn't for how the Base Roster speculation went only to end up with Plant, this wouldn't be an issue but you know.....

So frustrating.

Well I'm willing to chalk up the otters to hero at this point but since the source came out to explicitly state the starling pic was for something so Im not going to disown that, that being said I'm really starting to lose my patience over all the games, I mean all the hints and coincidences that have piled up have had diminishing returns for me for about a year now but im really just loosing my ability to care much at all. I'm going to stick it out and see what the starling was for for curiosity sake but If that doesn't pan out im probably going to take another break from speculation like I did in February. Either way 22 pages to go and 364 viewers might be a high score.

You do know there's a good chance that the Geno Mii Costume will show up again. It honestly doesn't matter at this point, fate will refuse to change.
