Man, you really will argue the other side of anything, even when there aren't legs to stand on.

I'm genuinely confused as to how this is me arguing on the other side of something "without legs." Edelgard is the breakout star of Fire Emblem Three Houses with huge importance to the plot and has often come up when discussing the possibility of a Three Houses rep. And Sakurai has mentioned perceiving certain issues with Fire Emblem in the past with the traditional lords, something that choosing Edelgard would absolutely circumvent. I don't expect Edelgard to show up, but I also wouldn't be surprised to see her down the line is really all I'm saying. I'm not just going after Fatmanonice in my response just because (and I'm not going after him at all either), I genuinely think Edelgard would be the pick over Byleth at this point and makes more sense (and I've stood by the "too new" not meaning a whole lot for DLC picks as well because it was framed like that for main game, Joker and Luminary only came out a few months before Rex and Springman, with ARMS releasing before Dragon Quest 11 which serves as the basis for Hero and his content).

I'm aware some of the points I bring up can be contentious and frustrate people sometimes, but I really don't see why this one fits in with even those trends. I didn't think expressing my opinion on Edelgard over Byleth would be much of a contentious issue...

I think people downplay EVO in general. The fact that EVO has put Ultimate as its largest competitive game speaks volumes when it comes to possible advertising. You are literally catering to the crowd that cares probably most about your game. Literally every game so far has advertised something.

Imo its weirder for Smash to actually be the odd man out here.

Super unlikely. Sabi's "old" Nintendo source only does things for first and second party games and I say this as someone who has known him for 10 months and has researched his hints since last August.

You have to understand that Sabi has a myriad of sources. It's not like she gets things from one guy. In a very short amount of time, she's built up quite the network and that means information coming from a lot of different places.

I think the benefit of the doubt might help here. For a company that supposedly is out of touch, they did a decent job announcing 3 of the pass' 5 characters in appropriately big events (Joker in the VGAs, Hero and Banjo at E3). The latter was reliably leaked, but Hero was seen coming from miles away anyways.

Because some people don¨t like the chances of a new FE rep (which I can understand) and refuse to listen to the arguments why it could happen. Going 200 on a motorway and thinks it's impossible for a crash... That kind of behavior.

I know Nintendo was pretty hurr durr during the Wii U era but they've consistently been on point for the Switch. If this were, say, 2015, I could see Nintendo hardcore dropping the ball for something like EVO but I don't really see that now, especially in the last two years. This is a Nintendo that's a lot smarter than it has been in the past. All the Switch E3's have been great, most of the Directs have been stellar too, often presenting news that utterly knocks our socks off. Joker at the VGAs was definitely worlds different than how Nintendo would have handled it a few years back. All this said as someone who has followed Nintendo news since the mid 90's, I would say Nintendo dropping the ball tonight would be more of an anomaly than a basic expectation based on their recent history.

At least I'm open to the possibility. Some people don't seem to think that a first party can get in at all, just because Reggie accidentally spoke vaguely, and we just so happened to have some third parties off the bat.

Yeah I've been thinking about that and it's honestly crazy impressive. It would be hilarious if we did end up reaching 1200 pages and Geno gets revealed exactly when we do though that's nigh impossible (Not the Geno being revealed thing of course but the timing for this scenario would have to be pitch perfect).

Know whats funny? Joker's mini-direct hinted at Hero and Banjo through stage builder. Hero's mini-direct has a notable lack of other Square Mii characters, ESPECIALLY Geno's, possibly hinting at another square character.

Honestly think Square may have gotten 2 characters, theres no rule against it and GOD does it feel like its time.

I dunno. She reminds me of Hector and Lyn, two characters that people swore up and down would eventually get into Smash because of their popularity but Lyn, arguably the most popular, became an AT. We also have already had a moment where Sakurai didn't care about who was the most popular of three choices with Inceniroar. There's a lot of other factors I've considered too like how it would be really awkward considering how both Rex and Springman were turned down for being "too new" despite having 2017 releases and Three Houses isn't even a month old yet.

That's why a Three House & Sword/Shield Pokemon should not be included it the Fighters Pass.

Edelgard is basically the villain of Fire Emblem Three House, I don't know much about it but got spoiled by Gamexplain video

Byleth is the character you start out with and is constant in all routes. He's like Robin & Corrin so he's most likely getting in over Edelgard.

I saw some things about it a bit ago when I looked on her twitter. I am just wondering where you fit in that sort of announcement.

Considering SNK and Soul Calibur both had their announcements after SFV's Top 8, I would say probably after Tekken 7's Top 8.

We could get news for both Tekken 7 AND GG, considering SNK and Bandai Namco are separate entities entirely yet still shared the same stage time more or less.
