If there is one series that would get different treatment of how the dlc characters are shown off, it would be dragon quest lol

I think it’ll just be an overview of Hero, his stage, music, and his spirits. Then a preview of Homerun Contest and then the mii costumes, with a chance of some more FF content.

That’s kind of my point. Time doesn’t tell us anything special about the presentation.
I think context is key. One can expect a lot of information in a direct. This video just seems like it's going to be Sakarai casually talking in front of the camera for 25 minutes fanboying over Hero. I personally wouldn't expect any more information than what the tweet told us. I just think using a smash direct as an example of getting expectations too high it's kind of not fair in this case because of the nature of this video.

I mean, if anything, it’s more fair since a full on Direct (the absolute highest pinnacle of Nintendo announcements if you will) being 40 minutes didn’t actually inform us as to what to expect, so a small presentation with a clearly defined narrow focus tells us even less.

Gonna call it now, depending on how this video is handled, there is gonna be a spike in memes about Sakurai making tutorial video's.

Literally no one in here can tell me not to be excited for Tuesday. I don’t give a **** if y’all want to be negative but don’t go telling me I shouldn’t be excited over something. I know exactly what I’m signing up for.

Keep in mind I did say “timestamp is an ineffective way to gauge the content of a presentation” and specifically pulled up the comparison of the August and November Directs. It’s just curious to me because this time around there should be less to talk about in theory when you factor in the fact that Hero’s trailer probably isn’t going to be shown again. Keep in mind that while Joker’s explanation probably won’t be as long as Hero’s, they still had to go over every single one of his specials twice and explain how Rebel’s Guard and Arsene worked. When you factor in the fact that they also had to show off Joker’s multiple-minute trailer, then the amount of time they had to spend on Joker starts to add up. I wouldn’t be surprised if Joker’s character section ends up being longer than Hero’s precisely for that reason, but we’ll see.

My point wasn’t that I think we’re getting a fourth character reveal definitely for sure without a shadow of a doubt no question, but rather that this disparity strikes me as odd. It could just be because of Sakurai being there and Hero’s special moves taking so long, but I kind of doubt that.

Hey, if anything, I admire that outlook and wish I felt the same way. You do you, my dude, and remember that we're all in this together. Let's hope for the best.

You know, come to think of it, now that we are likely to know that they're not announcing Hero's date at EVO, what is going to happen at EVO then? Another case of nothing happening at the end like with the SP2/Ultimate/Mario Tennis Aces tournaments?

I mean, if there’s nothing related to the Starling in the hero reveal, then it has to come from somewhere, right?

So VR Plant was right... This is kind of a personal presentation that Sakurai was in charge of setting up himself. Sakurai hasn't done something like this in quite a long time.
What did VR plant say? Any details?

Basically that there was a lot of evidence in the data that Sakurai probably managed the creation of this presentation himself and that it was done fairly recently. I talked about this the other day but, with Directs, they usually take a month to make along with editing and post production. This is very different and could also explain why the video is very heavily encrypted.

Ahhh finally. And I had a hunch Sakurai was going to be the one to talk about Hero. I agree that they will not show his trailer again. Something tells me Sakurai is going to gush for a good 20 Mins over DQ and just say, play him yourself!
All seriousness, 22 mins seems decent enough for something else to be shown.
Especially with 4.0.0 dropping as well. Doubtful it would just be for DLC fighter that someone would be crazy enough to NOT get.

EDIT: No script...Is he doing a Let's Play of his own game!?

Well here's to hoping that they announce a special bonus fighter outside of the pass with our boy since it's focused on square. I know it isn't going to happen, but with that guy that posted the starling those weeks ago, one can dream. That's the only thing we got going for us if anything. Expect the worst, hope for the best.

Sakurai: I hope you all enjoy playing as the Hero, or Heroes I should say, and [insert name of new mode here]. Once again, thank you very much for your support.

Oh, that's right! I almost forgot to mention one last thing. Although, I believe it's best if I just show you. Please, take a look.

Tinfoil hat theory for me is Sakurai wanted complete control over this presentation because there was a certain aspect of it he didn't want getting out before he announced it himself.
