Yeah Mario/Peach/Geno seems like the popular team, guess thats also a reason Geno became so popular, he's one of the best party members therefore a bunch of people use him

happy 100th page

Keep on trekking. The stars above might have a surprise waiting for you.
Holy ****, this just reminded how much Bowie's Starman lyrics represent Geno.

There's a starman waiting in the sky
He'd like to come and meet us
But he thinks he'd blow our minds
There's a starman waiting in the sky
He's told us not to blow it
Cause he knows it's all worthwhile
He told me:
Let the children lose it
Let the children use it
Let all the children boogie
I had to phone someone so I picked on you
Hey, that's far out so you heard him too
Switch on the TV we may pick him up on channel two
Look out your window I can see his light
If we can sparkle he may land tonight
Don't tell your poppa or he'll get us locked up in fright
Just replace TV with CPU or something.

Speaking Of things in SMRPG that some people never did, how many of you actually used Bowser in your party a lot?, from what I saw he seems pretty unpopular with lets plays and stuff
Up until I left for college in 2008, I played through SMRPG at least once a year starting in 1996. I've done the game through every team combination, itemless runs, and even a few saveless runs. My standard was Mario/Bowser/Geno because Peach significantly dropped the game's difficulty once she joined the team. Itemless with those three was my favorite way to run the game.

Makes me wonder, if they ever did do a SMRPG remake would you prefer if they did some major mechanical changes i.e, having a set amount of flower points for each member instead of sharing, new Magic abilities major balancing, maybe even try to inject a new bonus party Member

suppose all that could be in some new Mode though, like a "Remix" Mode or something

Honestly, and maybe it's because I have never played the game myself, but I would think they would change a lot of things if they were to make a remake and try to hold it to modern standards and convention. It is 20 years old. I imagine they would keep a lot of the same story stuff and locations, but a bunch of stuff would likely have to change, depending on the direction they take with it.

Thank you! glad you liked it, and thanks for posting it here!!! I was going to put it in this thread but i'm not even home this week so it's been a hassle to get some time online and the internet where i am is spotty.

So once again thank you!
I'll add it to the OP when I get a chance

New party members Johnny and Croco, better ultimate equipment for each character, new abilities, the whole works

Maybe even have cameos from newer Mario characters

That's awesome; SMRPG is one of my favorite games, but that shows a love greater than I even have.

The best was playing through the game as a kid without the lazy shell stuff and it being a legitimate challenge.

I've always had an affinity for the game; when I was under 5, I must've failed at Croco a million times because although I had the guide, there's no way for a kid that young to understand you need fire orb; that was my first challenge, then my file was stuck because there was a glitch in the game where the cake boss was unbeatable. On another save I got very far (either Axem Rangers [what a cool idea for an assist trophy] or Czar Dragon), but it wasn't until years later I was able to beat the game on the virtual console probably when you left for college; it was a total gradual thing.

I would be keen for a remake, but I would also call anyone who would want a remake over a sequel insane. Mario/Rabbids to me felt like more of a spiritual successor than Paper Mario for whatever reason: the cool graphics, the giant leaves, the Rabbids replacing all the weird and unique characters, putting Mario in an unfamiliar atmosphere... Rabbid Peach is no Geno, but if Smash is still kicking in 20 years, Rabbid Peach would be a cool character in the same way Geno is now.

Edit: I was obsessed with the game's artwork, and my family must've not been the only one to make clay models of all the characters.

Yeah, I think the most effective characters are Peach, Geno, Bowser and Mallow (in that order).

As a kid my team was almost always Mario/Bowser/Geno since I just wanted to attack. In later playthroughs I found out how useful Peach was and used her in boss battles but still mostly used Mario/Bowser/Geno.

Bowser's and Geno's attacks had fun sound effects and animations, too, so all the more reason to use them.

I use Mario, Bowser, Geno

I mean, the thing that drew me to the game in the first place was being able to have Bowser in your party

I didn't know that until I played someone else's save file from the game I rented and instantly knew I was going to love the game

The Chrono Trigger rerelease for the DS is how I would want them to tackle it on a basic level. They added a ton of side quests, gear, and one new super boss but, damn, did it pretty much perfect the original game. Improved graphics and party members would just be icing on the cake.

I hope they make a sequel instead of a remake. I would love to see what happened after that game, and it always makes me a bit sad that Geno and Mallow never got to meet Mario & co. again after what happened in the game.

Edit: happy 100th page, btw!! It's great to see so much support for Geno.

Hello there ! Congrats for the 100th page, we did it !!! The hype is getting higher and higher woaaah, especially after this Vergeben leak ! I think I might explode before the game comes out....
Anyway, I was both excited about Geno and bored, so I decided to mix the 20th Anniversary video's music (the one in the OP) with the original song "Kigurumi Wakusei". And... I got this : http://picosong.com/w5Vrw/
Well, it sounds a bit like SMRPG : The Anime ! xD

We've beaten the Smash 4 thread

Now we just need 342 more pages to beat the Brawl thread, lol

Y'know, looking back, it feels like just yesterday that this thread was sitting at a measly two pages and I pledged my support here. Now, just five short months later, here we are at 100 pages with over 150 confirmed supporters. It's really been a wild ride, seeing Geno's chances skyrocket over the past few months from "never gonna happen" to "he's a shoo-in", and whether all this hype ultimately pays off or not, these past 98 pages of discussion have been incredibly fun and made this hype cycle truly special for me. Here's hoping what the coming months bring keeps the Geno hype train rolling!

How will you celebrate the day when he gets confirmed? will you replay the game or something in particular?

Well, seeing all the doubters and naysayers come back to us with their tails between their legs will be a start. :demon:

I will do what any sane and logical person would do.

Honestly, I would just look up how everyone else is reacting. It'll be fun.

I like how you think. Screw naysayers and doubters of characters we support, it's always so tasty to see them having to take an L

You know, I want to make a correction. If Geno gets announced, I am gonna be watching this non stop. It's hype enough as is, but after a reveal like that the song will hold that much more "Oomph."

Just popping in to say good luck Geno supporters! Behind Isaac, Geno is tied with Banjo for 2nd place on my most wanted list. Would love to see him get in. God knows you guys have waited long enough for him to become part of the Smash family.

Congrats on the 100 pages!

Does anyone own the Geno keychain? The sole piece of Geno merch in existence. Hopefully an amiibo will be produced since I don't feel like dropping $500 on one, though classic is better.

He is the OG toy-to-life; he needs an amiibo.

I cannot believe this statistic; you would think Smash is bigger than ever now and there are substantially more people playing it, and it's not like his popularity has fallen off that much.

Honestly, I would just look up how everyone else is reacting. It'll be fun.
D1 is gonna be a go; he's his most wanted newcomer, and this is how he reacted to Snake (the last yell is the best):

Howard Stern ripped Etika for his Ridley reaction; someone needs to show him that.

Speaking of Etika, he's my my go-to streamer, but he has no connection to Geno so I have no idea how he would even react; he doesn't even know how to pronounce his name.

With the ugliest cry I can muster.

It makes sense to me-- considering how Brawl had a significantly longer period between the game being announced and released, it follows that their support threads would be much longer. I think the support is just as enthusiastic now as it was during Brawl, they just had a lot more time to be enthusiastic about it.

Went back and crunched some numbers.
There were 621 days between the OP of Brawl's thread and the last message sent on the thread, with 441 pages in total.
Since the release of the Ultimate trailer and now (170 days), we have 100 pages. (The first few messages were made when the OP was created, about a year before the announcement of Ultimate.)

Brawl sets up at about .7 pages per day.
We sit at .59. We're catching up.

EDIT: Coincidentally my post bumped us to page 101. Fixed my math.

Even tho Geno is not my number one pick (cuz that is Bandana dee) I would be really happy if he makes it to the roster, you guys really deserve it with your big support since the brawl days..

Add me to the support list! I just want everyone to be happy and get their characters in :D
