Gears of War 3

Honestly, I doubt I'll get this. No point really, the MP usually gets boring after a while. (And I'm not very good anyway)

So...

I'm really excited to play some connection wars 3. Er, pardon me, I mean Gears of War 3.

Not to toot my own horn, but I was amazing at GoW2 multiplayer. Too bad it never mattered how good you were because host shotty was invincible.

Banjo, I feel your pain. I'd wallbounce myself out of a bad situation, I'd be fourty feet from the guy, and then his gib would register. ;[.
I am pretty good too.
EDIT: On the pax video, a few things.
1. Dat retro lancer has a HUGE amount of kick.
2. Dat retro lancer is going to be so f'ing abused by noobs, especially since it will see that I've played gears 1 + 2 and give them more health.
3. The sawed off shotty is going to be corner abused.
4. The Gnasher should still be good. It makes sense that in a world where people wear ****loads of armor, you'd want to use the most power against it.
5. Two smoke grenades? YEEEAH
6. I hope that frag planting isn't overpowered again.

Not to toot my own horn, but you're not good if you still complain about host. I still play the game every day, and host is rarely a problem, because 90% of hosts aren't skilled players. On any decent connection, host can be beat.

Exactly my point. We should play when the game comes out assuming the multiplayer takes some skill and I actually enjoy it.

The statement "host shotty is invincible" was obviously directed at any player who has two brain cells to rub together and can play the game. It's clearly not a problem if the host is a ******* who just put the disc in for the first time, that's not the point.

My point is, if I pulled host every game, I'd completely destroy everyone. That's not an assumption, it's the truth. It's too easy. I stopped playing just because of the lag issues.

I wasn't talking about new players. 90% of hosts you'll find are average players: People who have experience with the game, know how to use all weapons, understand the objectives of the game, knows good and bad decisions, know maps and weapon locations, etc. Those people permeate typical play and are most likely to be the hosts you'll find, and they are not hard to overcome. A host who is , as you put it, "any player who has two brain cells to rub together and can play the game" is no trouble for me or any good player. As host who is also an above average player; however, is a problem.

Well, judging by your previous statement:

The statement "host shotty is invincible" was obviously directed at any player who has two brain cells to rub together and can play the game

This could very well mean you're just another average joe at this game, being that you think that just anyone with basic knowledge of the game can succeed with host. But, by chance that you ARE actually a good player, I see no reason why you'd even bring this up. Of course a good player should be able to dominate on host, but a good player doesn't solve all his problems by saying "this wouldn't've happened if I was host."

As far as lag-issues are concerned, that's why I play Annex. The connections on this game are too fishy to play execution. In annex, I've got time to learn how a connection works and adapt. There isn't always enough time for that in warz/exe.

So what exactly is the key to being good at multiplayer? I'll be honest I'm horrible at this game which is why I'm asking. Well I'm horrible at Gears 2, technically Gears 3 isn't out yet but unless they changed a lot of things I'll probably be bad at this game too.

After learning basics (like those i mentioned previously) there's several things that set the great players from the average ones.

1. Shotgun talent is basically essential to being a great player. The shotgun is both an offensive and defensive goldmine, any good player will know how to use it. This means knowing every possible situation where a shotgun blast can be placed. It is VERY extensive.

2. Movement and terrain manipulation. Good players know how to move, whether it's to avoid shots or get positioning. For combat this includes wallbouncing and strafing, for travel, efficient cover slides are faster than running, which helps you to move faster as well as makes it harder for people to follow/aim at you.

3. Attention to sounds. Character sound-effects are played based on their location, and paying attention to those can make a world of difference especially in respawn modes. One jump can instantly tell you where someone is (which is why Baird is considered the best character bcause he makes no noise when he jumps.)

4. Observing other players/ knowing player habits. This is mostly useful in respawn modes, because there's less time to do so in non-respawn modes. Once you become comfortable in your own skills, you can actually learn the habits of individual players and use it to your advantage. (For example, if a player tends to jump around a lot, especially if they like to jump towards you, there's an 85% chance that they're going for a 2-piece, once you know that, it's basically a free kill.)

5. Thinking while you play (I made this video awhile ago for gears forums lol)

My thoughts while watching these videos:
I like the new crosshairs.
The double barreled is perfect because the only way you can get kills with it is by corner camping.
....wait.
The popshot is back :0
You can still wallbounce :0
The retro lancer charge looks stupid good.
The retro lancer can't hit anything.
Why isn't anybody using active?

Omg, after finally getting a close look at these videos GoW 3 looks sooooooo amazing. Looks like wallbouncign will still be intact, so the tactical fans on the forums are gonna cry so hard.

That reminds me, if Krill come back I swear. Those things were the most annoying ****s of GoW1 and I crossed my fingers and prayed they wouldn't come back for GoW2

That was the worst chapter in GoW1. The whole 'darkness' idea was bad.

Especially when RAM abused them. RAM would've gone down so much more quicker if he didn't have a ****ing Krill shield around him

God man, the whole don't go into the dark or bats maul you idea was annoying

Gears 1 was too good to not be excited for every sequel, even if every sequel so far has sucked.

Same for the Halo Series.

I tend to prefer Gears 2, although the decisions made for the matchmaking system are easily some of the worst ever. When I first played the MP I thought I was trucking through sludge, but once I saw how much better the wallbouncing had gotten because of the wall cancels, everything got so much faster.

Anybody wanna play some Gears 2? I'm in the mood now and I haven't played in forever

And man, wtf how do you wallbouncing anyways? I've tried it and I don't get how to do it

EDIT:

Man, how do you even win at this game anyways? Every time I play I get my *** handed to me even though I blow like 3 shotgun bullets right at the face of my opponent and they take me down with one

Should be on a different piece of paper in the game box. You enter it into the bulletstorm main menu. (You'll need the game disc in your console to play.)

The game has been around for a long *** time now and the only people who still play online are the ones that have been playing for a long *** time... So if you aren't very good you're pretty much gonna get your *** handed to you 9/10 matches.

I wish I had more hard drive space and less homework, that way I could get in line for this.
