The way I see it, I think it's safe to say Japan plays theory fighter much better than the majority of the English speaking community. They play based on optimal spacing, reactions, and matchup knowledge better than most of the USA.

I think Japan as a whole is a lot less gimmicky than the USA from observation.
I can agree there. But conditioning ourselves to those gimmicks makes the US the better players, I think. At Apex, out of the Japanese players I saw, they played very much the same. For instance, when I saw Brood fight Anti, Brood had no idea how to handle half of what Anti did.

They do emphasize a competitive "orthology" if you will, but on an international level, this straightforwardness and minimalistic style will only take them so far.

Edit: Let me rephrase. Follow-ups are inescapable moves chained together--I meant "combos" if you'll excuse the loose term. They tend to get one hit in and leave it.

Work on item catching and ledge invincibility abuse edgeguarding against Toon Link (basically to edgeguard Toon Link, KNOW when he's going to Up-B, grab the ledge before his Up-B starts, and as his Up-B DOES actually start, ledgedrop U-air him while you have invul frames). That's pretty much all I have to say besides "powershield moar". It's not like you did the matchup wrong otherwise.

In other words, what he and the others do well, they do really well.
Ye, they've got great techniqual skill and all, but that's pretty much it.

Also, almost no mindgames :0

Big Bucks, GG Vs TL.
Try not to Stomp so much when you're outside him - His Nair eats our Stomp.

iDA him right before, or right after his SH Nair.

If he gets too confident in his Nair, you can even SH Fair him.
Up-angeled Demonic Fsmash works surprisingly well Vs Nair, too O_o'

I thought there was a thread for just Ganon dittos, but since I don't see it, I'll just put these here. Finally put up the Wifi matches against Vermanubis:

Also, I have this video from playing with Sovereign which I put up on the sole basis of it being hilarious:

GGs.
You guys seem to have fun.

I was expecting to see more "Silly Mindgaming", though ;d

You are talking to the wroooong dude, Z1gma. I am not a mindgaming player by any means, I'm much more focused on playing fast and not getting *****. It doesn't help much against players who know how to get in your head, though, and of course Ganon mains can do that better than anyone...

You have pretty good reactions Clai, and your edgeguards in the 2nd vid imo were pretty good.

Verm is entertaining as always, with his ability to get into peoples' heads.

I'll take care of it.
Coo'

Also, since Kalm won't do it, can you update the OP in the "Epic Ganon dittos"-thread
with my dittos Vs Exalted? (Match#1 & Match#3)

...As well as your dittos Vs Clai.

Those are the only recent Dittos, so it won't be too troublesome ;p

I don't think there's much you can do. If an Ike sees you're escaping they'll probably just finish the jab combo.

You can get out with really good sDI. It's very hard to do consistently though.

Most of the time, you're going to take 20-30+ damage a pop if Ike gets some good jab cancels in.

Also... I'm uploading a ton of vids to youtube, most of them singles/doubles bracket matches.

Finally done uploading everything... I present the first batch of DLA videos since, like, forever. All of these are bracket matches unless otherwise noted. A few matches are missing, it either means they weren't recorded, or I didn't use Ganon.

*** means that this is a match that's awesome and especially worth watching. All of these are worth watching though, or else I wouldn't have uploaded them :p

DOUBLES

vs. Diska and GenoNyght
***R1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3osb76v0Jjw * (**** match, near-wombo combo at 2:18)
R2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nthm9K5SR8 (this match was stupid lol... I did get a 0-death at 1:16 though)
R3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2x4f2N3PW0Y

vs. Wafles and Dragmire

R1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pIKxjjXj98 (I gayed Dragmire really hard this game :( )
R2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1Ffr64bJjQ

vs. Kappy and Zwarm

R1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kelPMx1fnw (we were wrecking until I ganoncided my partner at 0%... it was all downhill from there :( )

SINGLES

vs. Diska :snake:
comment: pretty routine snake match... he started camping really hard 2nd match so I wanted to try to time him out... but then he started coming back from a 2 stock deficit so I said screw it lol.

R1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSY-dk4XUz8
R2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mK58FdC_Pwk

vs. Hunger :wario::kirby2:
comment: Hunger's too damn good. 1st match was embarrassing, but I brought it back game 2 and won. Game 3 would have been really close if he didn't get that early Uthrow kill.

R1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ej8iFS2RCNc
***R2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKDoIEp5f6E
***R3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmjipCFTyXI

vs. Dragmire :ganondorf:
comment: Dragmire is a Ganon main from Wisconsin. He seems to play more Melee than Brawl (he mains Ganon in melee too), but he's still a great Brawl player. He had a lot of things going against him this match though, because I already fought him in doubles and about a dozen friendlies. And I have a lot more exp in the matchup. Trust me, he's better than these videos suggest lol.

***R1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeCu0rAzgXE
***R2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CP_h10iEUXc

vs. Kennispam :metaknight:
comment: These could have gone better. I beat him with Pika game 1. Game 2 was pretty stupid, but I successfully lavacided an MK so that was pretty cool I guess lol. Game 3 was very very close, but stale moves plus a few nasty input errors cost me the match.

R2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFVSPomUeMs
***R3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XgTg9MiL7U

FRIENDLIES

vs. Akashi :marth:
comment: I played almost perfectly this match (except for almost literally spamming aerial wizkick for some reason), but my last stock was cut tragically short by marth's stupid ****ing up B + my nonsensical DI.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejXaTBRsZpI

vs. King :pikachu2:
comment: Pretty cool match

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogIUhSwEoVo

Feel free to comment/ask questions etc :p

Vs Wario, you used too many D-airs and got punished for it. Not enough U-airs.

Yeah I noticed that too. I replaced most of my Dairs with Nairs and Uairs once game 2 started though, and that's probably why I won.

This thread needs more 2on2;

Also, I thought of something...
Wouldn't it be a pretty good idea if you gave me control of the thread for a day, Verm,
so that I can put a lot of my matches in the OP?

Different Ganons could have "their day" to put their vids in the OP.

Makes things easier for you, Verm.

That match had some interesting kills lol.

Z1GMA your Ganon is really unique... you probably play the safest Ganon I've ever seen. Which is definitely helpful when playing Ganon, but it seems to me like you may need to... attack more. I'm not sure how else to put it haha. You have great survival, great punishes, an excellent concept of Ganon's capabilities (you ARE the Professordorf after all), but it looks like you often miss opportunities to attack safely. Randomly throwing out moves is obviously a bad thing, but there were some instances where you could have safely put pressure on your opponent by attacking (even if your attacks didn't connect), but instead you just refrained from attacking.

I may be wrong since I haven't gotten to see a lot of your videos, but that was just the impression I get. Most Ganons in America seem to be quite aggressive, so it may just be the difference in playstyles that's throwing me off. Good stuff though for sure.

Zigma's playstyle reminds me a bit of my own actually. I consider my playstyle very conservative with a focus on perfect spacing. Breezy has even called me a "Zoningdorf" lol.

One half of my playstyle however also loves making sick reads. It's why I can't get away from this character.

No worries, Z1g. You guys can post videos regularly without restraint, as long as it's within reason. I'll update tomorrow.

Z1gmas dorf is indeed unique. He´s a professordorf with LOTS of knowledge and very observing with his spacing. On top of that, he has tons of mindgames and also pretty good adapting skills. Very smart player...

Generally, I think you're right, DLA.
However, I'm a LOT more defensive in 2on2 than in 1on1.
In 2on2, I concentrate a lot on my teamate's opponent.
