I think HoN is well worth the 30 dollar price. Only problem is that it's a little baby and the competitive scene consists of heavy turtling.

Actually they're becoming a lot more aggressive lately! =D

Plus there isn't that many heroes. Those ****ers don't port the Dota heroes they need. Adding ****ty hybrid heroes. :/
But like I said, it's a baby so give it some time.
Actually, the metagame is mostly focused on pusher/healer strats right now.

hm let's see

gproxy in its initial form allows people with shaky connections to reconnect after dropping, and gameplay may be paused until said person reconnects. this is fine, since it solves the problem of people dropping during scrims/matches. doesn't let straight up leavers rejoin (nor does it work on normal hosts afaik), but every single important match these days is played on a hostbot

hon does indeed have a significantly lower ratio of leavers when compared to pub dota, but in league play it really shouldn't matter in either gay

in my opinion hon's visual effects are so overdone to the point where teamfights are flat out messy; the crisp, simple effects of dota make it that much easier for spectators and the players themselves to follow along. not to mention that the hero models are small as ****, look pretty ****ed ugly for the most part, and they disrespected the shadowfiend model

replay viewing is indeed convenient...

there's so much more they need to clean up before it can even compare to dota gameplaywise; what's sad is that bunches of idiots are already touting it at the game that will supposed replace dota when the people behind the balancing have no clue on how to balance skills, let alone heroes or the complex interactions between various heroes that comprise the metagame

in short, hon is probably better for your above-average public player who is looking to play lag-free leaverless games, but if you jump a few notches in skill level, all of that pretty much becomes irrelevant for players of higher skill

sad thing is most midskill dota teams could go over to hon and be considered to be highskilled

don't even need to bring the asians into this
Leagueplay Dota > Hon, this is true. The game has been out much much longer, and the balance is much more polished, and there are more competitive players atm.

I think we'll have to disagree about the graphics. I love Dota graphics, but I still think hon looks nicer.

Balance will come with Hon, it just takes time. What's cool about trying to play Hon competitively right now, though, is you can help shape the metagame.

My synopsis: Dota has better league play. Hon has better everything else.

i think i can confidently say that balance in hon won't come with time; the people behind the balancing at hon are clueless

you realize you can shape the metagame in dota too?

lol

Ofmg, this is exactly what I wanted. Thank you sir for delivering.

What you said a long time ago how the skill gap between competitive Hon and dota was big. You were so right. The Pros in hon look pubby compared to the Asians...

But it's still a baby so It's alright for now.

man Furion is such a hit or miss hero

Some of my friends can get some crazy dps out of him, and others end up as the biggest feeders I've seen. Weirdest hero ever. Decent disable, imba teleport, good farm. Weird hero

I usually lose with him while maintaining a positive k-d ratio

last game I played, I just warded everywhere and ganked a rhasta with my dagon 5 the entire game, even though i lost

Competitive dota > Competitive Hon.

Just about everything else Hon > just about everything else dota

Edit: There are more hon tournies and money to win with hon too

yeah all the major tournies are switching over to HoN and with it taking some of Dota's famous players. I believe milkfat and his team is playing HoN now

Hey Miharu if you don't mind me asking, why doesn't your team just come and **** the Hon teams?

I mean I understand that you have an undying hate for it but why not just play a nicer looking Dota while getting money? Sounds like a win win to me.

Most people are afraid of change. Even when the change is as slight as from dota to hon. I mean, what if he wasn't good at hon? It might crush his self-esteem.

I hated HoN and its subtle changes at first too. Then I realized its just more efficient and the mechanic is easier to work with with the game being essentially the same.

Yeah that's how my group of friends were with it. We played Pub Dota so we were tired of leavers and ****. Then Hon was like, new heroes AND a leaver protection crap. that's what sold it. Plus it looks nice in a sloppy way. =D

its kinda wack how the changelogs vaguely follow the dota changelogs though with its independent hero balancing. Its almost TOO much of a copy

hon looks ugly, and the mechanics/balance/hero pool are ****ing garbage

yeah all the major tournies are switching over to HoN and with it taking some of Dota's famous players. I believe milkfat and his team is playing HoN now
they're doing it due to larger player base which = more money, thus more profit and exposure for the events/tournaments themselves. many tournaments still do both dota/hon (mainly online ones). also sam (milkfat) is cool and all, but he wasn't top level skillwise in dota, no matter what he says :D

Most people are afraid of change. Even when the change is as slight as from dota to hon. I mean, what if he wasn't good at hon? It might crush his self-esteem.
hi you're a ****ing idiot and i'd scrape your worthless *** in hon; go do your research before spouting ******** bull****
