Been playing dota for about 5 years, been on a good 6 month or so hiatus. Played in CAL, trained with a local CAL team for a good year in my first year. Yeah the game isn't as good as it used to be, that's why I don't play much anymore. If you want to get good, get into the inhouse leagues, that's where players like Merlini play, that's where all the top players got good. Public matches are basically the same as playing Smash with items on.

Drunkndotamasta on Lordaeron.

And HoN and LoL are horrible games that killed dota. Yeah the frontend interface makes it seem like a good idea to play it instead, but the games are horribly imbalanced, reduce the need for personal skill, increase the reliance on just ganging up in team fights with aoe attacks only.

hon and lol kinda took the life out of pub dota, but they didn't really kill it

comp scene still as strong as ever, although the strongest teams are in asia now (and its terribly obvious after MYM got stomped at SMM)

some euros also started IHCS back up; gonna be curious to see how that turns out

game's almost completely changed from what it was in the .48b dagger era though

it's cool how a lot of the popular e-sports games started off as mods of popular games. cs from half life, dota from wc3, team fortress from half life.

WoW arena too, except that will never be as good as it could be because it's still part of the main (****ty) game and that means they can't balance it out without messing up the other parts of the game.

miharu u gotta train me bro

its impossible to get into tier 2 or 3 without friends

everyone feeds on my team constantly, thats one of the reasons why play dota less now

its like i would have 4x k/d ratio and still lose lol

I don't think overrated.
Definitely can be called mediocre.

Also, they're making more heroes that are gankers.
Chiprel is soooo beast. =D

oh it's definitely overrated

every other ****** that plays that game thinks its going to be bigger than dota competitively; but when you look at it, the top players in hon are only equal in skill level to the mid level players in dota

don't know about them ****ing asians

It seems to me that noticeably less people are playing Dota right now. At least in public games and THR1 games. I started playing some match making games on HON, but the games are so generic. The same heroes get banned every game and the same ones get picked.

people like it because it "looks better"

that and they made a lot of things easier for the player, much like brawl did

Only thing I like more about HoN is easy default keys. Dota has ******** keybinds.

thats why you use things like warkeys/dotakeys/autohotkey etc
Right, because having the game make things easier for the player is bad, like Brawl is. It's better for us to have to do it ourselves, right?

I'm pretty sure having those things built into the game is much better than having to use workarounds. Making things easier for the player isn't inherently bad; it's when making things easier detriment from the amount of options a player is given. Tech skill is fine and flashy and it requires real skill but most importantly it's a manipulation of the options players are given.

things like hotkey remapping is more than welcome

**** like making last hitting easier isn't

its all well until they start ****ing with things that will end up detracting from gameplay

Remapping key binds is fine with me, and using dota's original keys isn't even that bad. But it still makes me wonder what they were thinking when they came up with those weird key configurations for heroes.

probably weren't thinking too much

but most of the hotkeys are grouped close enough together iirc (for active skills at least)

ya the dota hotkeys has been the least of my worries for playing dota

took me like 30 minutes to figure out how to configure warkeys

and on my new laptop it took me 5 minutes to get my keys set up to qwer asdf zxcv

the problem is gettin to god dam thr3 without having noob *** feeders make you lose games in thr1

impossible
