I'm glad that KOFXIII and BBCP got in, but that "reason" they gave for not including TTT2 because "they think there might be a new game coming soon" even though there's nothing to support that notion is one of the weakest and most ridiculous things I think I've ever heard.

Also, when Mr.Wizard talked about "not being able to buy your way into EVO" after KI and Injustice were announced, the stream chat and Twitter went crazy, lol.

As far as Tekken goes, it seriously drew the second lowest number of entrants last year, beating only Mortal Kombat. Given that, I can see reason that they'd
1. not bring TTT2 back, and
2. hope for a new Tekken game that would have enough hype for good first-EVO-event numbers

Killer Instinct feels pretty obvious as a money grab (whether by sponsorship or by aforementioned "new game hype" prospecting remains to be seen). Injustice had good attendance last year and has had fairly strong numbers since then, so uhh... not sure how you see that as being bought into EVO. Admittedly the crowd's hate for its own game at 2013 was a major turn-off for me to ever want to get into the scene, but popularity in terms of tournament attendance and representation has always been one of the largest factors in which games make the main events, so Injustice makes perfect sense to me.

I get that, and I would've been fine if Wizard had just said "the turnout for it last year wasn't what we hoped and the numbers just haven't been there for us to put it in the lineup". But to completely make up a BS reason instead of just giving the likely real one bugs the hell out of me.

And I'm assuming that when people talk about Injustice "buying its way in", they were likely first referencing last year where Injustice was in the donation drive for games to be in EVO 2013, came what I remember being a distant 4th or something behind Melee, Skullgirls, and Super Turbo, only to be put into the lineup anyway while Skullgirls got shafted. It turned out that NRS was putting money towards the pot and stuff like that, so it could easily be seen as doing that again. Admittedly, it's not as potentially super obvious of a money grab as Killer Instinct, but I 'get' why those who think it bought its way in think that. Granted, I never said that was my personal opinion, I was just relaying what went on.

PR talk, it isn't new. Regardless, whatever he said wasn't going to make a difference at Tekken being in or not.

In other news, Skullgirls Encore is confirmed for February 11th.

Well, no it's not new that it's PR talk, but there's a difference between being honest and respectful to the audience and players, and just being downright disrespectful to everyone who watches, plays, or is a fan of Tekken. Yes, Tekken not being in sucks, but its absence isn't what upsets people, nearly as much as the "reason" or lack of actual explanation given for it.

It's pretty ironic that Tekken gets such low entrants, given that it is the #1 selling fighting game series ever.
Although competitive Tekken is really popular internationally, especially in Korea. I think a few Korean players flew out to EVO last year. Still, in every series domestic players make up the majority. I guess that competitive Tekken isn't that popular in America.

That don't mean squat here in the states unfortunately. IT's all depends on the attendance and performance of the competitive scene and if It's not a Capcom game not SFXT or a easy 2d game to play then folks arn't gonna play it a whole bunch. Also seeing the rage Kor's Tekken Academy on the matter is well deserve even though that FB group kinda went downhill a while back but people can only blame themselves sadly.

Thus I sometimes call them Sheep games. Also I knew TTT2 wasn't gonna be at EVO but that bullcrap response sure pissed alot of people off.

Also all the other games I was right about expect for SFXT not being there. And man I wish I had a XBONE right now cause I really want to play KI but that price point and being a poor college student though :( .

Injustice: Gods Among Us is on sale on PC for $12.49. I disliked Mortal Kombat, but it was cheap, especially after I knocked it down another $0.20 with some store credit. I actually really like it! It feels much better than NetherRealm's previous games, and Raven's fun to play as. If anyone else in here owns it on PC, let me know. I'm trying to find people to play with.

So what's the deal with Skullgirls? I've been looking at it the last 2 days or so, thinking of getting it to get into the competitive fighting scene. It seems like lots of people say it's good, and gets the shaft, yet how is it not that popular? I've heard nothing but good about it. Great online play, fairly balanced, beautiful artwork (which is negligible in my opinion, in the long run at least)...
So why doesn't everyone play it? :(

It is good, and I really liked it, but I just sort of stopped paying attention to it after a while.

So if any of you guys live in the Midwest or attend UFGT, UFGT10 will be the last one. As a Midwest FG player WE ARE OFFICIALLY SCREWED majors wise. I see where he is coming from though.

EDIT: In other news there is a new arcade called Ultra Arcade opening up in San Antonio TX and also functions as a video game store as well I believe and they will be having a grand opening tournament on the 15th of this month so any of you Texas folk that are nearby you should check it out.

NOOOOOOOO! Damn, this it not the news I wanted to hear after last nights episode. :mad088:
Kirito has been added to Dengeki Fighting Climax.
http://dengekionline.com/elem/000/000/801/801607/

Damn it Dengeki, and still no Baccano! characters in sight.

Well let's look on the bright side, this game will have the most satisfying training mode punching bag in any fighting game. I will be throwing all the recycle bins at his face if I ever get to play this.

Time to use Kirito on Rutger

Nah, I'll be using Shana and Kuroyukihime still out of this list. And maybe Minato because why not

Watch him end up the best character in the game, just to make me hate him more. :/

I'm not sure I like the idea of SAO getting two playable characters. Ignoring my thoughts on the series, I have a feeling the starting roster is going to be kind of small since the game is going to be out next month.
Hopefully Dengeki will allow good post-release support.

You better brace yourself then
  • Trench Coat
  • (Dual) Sword User
  • Blocks/Deflects with a twirling sword animation
He has the qualities of a top tier character.

I'm hoping for some post-release content. The game's targeted towards readers and anime watchers. Even Aquapazza added some characters to the playable roster as time went on.

Just when I thought Dengeki would be (mostly) about fighting girls, it comes Kirito.
Dammit, I would've preferred to have 13578906321657618 Shana vs Asuna matches (both with Touma strikers).

Did assists always have more than one attack? I'm pretty sure I've never seen Touma do that punch before.
Looks like you can hold 6 and press the assist button to have them do something else. That's cool.

I'm still hoping we will see someone(playable) from Baccano! some day. If not now, then in an update.

Hmm, not sure if I want to get that.

It's certainly not a bad game, hell, there's quite a bit that I liked about AH3, but I just didn't play it for very long.

Yeah, I feel the same. I mean, I know AH3 is a good game, but...it just didn't seem a fit for me, and it felt kind of stiff and wooden with the movement for characters. Of course, I say this when I play TTT2 over SCV and (mostly) DOA5U, so what the hell am I even talking about?

AH3 could need some polishes here and there, it's pretty cool and ridiculously deep.

Every fighting game series needs an Edition Select. Throw it in for the Street Fighter series alone even. Like have it for Street Fighter 3, for the Alpha series, have it for Marvel 3/UMVC3, the Guilty Gear XX games, etc. Sure, it'd be a terrible idea in some cases, but it'd be good fraudulent fun.

CT Nu, Rachel, and Arakune again?

I'd rather fight more Kokonoes. :/

It would be a fun little gimmick mode to have in more fighting games though. GGXX has GG generations you can unlock, which gives characters mechanics similar to GG and GGX, I really wouldn't mind seeing more things like that.

Don't you play Koko? lol

I think it's a really cool idea, but really weird at the same time. It's almost like what was the point in balancing the game at all?

I might have to learn SF4 now just for that edition select lol. And I wish KOF had more of this edition select cause the closest thing they got is Ex characters. Same with Tekken.
