Anyone else picked up TTT2? Game still feels somewhat like T5 so I was glad I can jump right in and still pull off some combos from 7 years ago!

Didn't even know the game was out yet truthfully. Though my mind and body must learn Persona and AE more. It's weird since even though I've always kinda liked and respected the Tekken games, I've not really played them.

I'm a very happy person right now! Ever since I got an arcade stick, I knew I should be better at using it than the way I was performing! I was dropping combos that I knew I shouldn't be dropping, but I didn't know why it was happening! Two weeks ago I decided to make a custom faceplate for the stick and decided to open it up to get familiar with what is inside! And I saw the answer to why I wasn't performing to my expectations!

http://www.arcadespareparts.com/arcade_parts/sanwa_parts/sanwa_restrictor_plate_gt8f/12165.html

That restrictor plate comes in with all MadCatz sticks! I had so much problems getting a smooth motion around the corners that I just couldn't perform Tiger Knees properly and sometimes drop qc motion! I only looked a little further and found this little bad boy!

http://www.arcadespareparts.com/arcade_parts/sanwa_parts/sanwa_gt_y_octagonal_restrictor/13063.html

It came in yesterday, but I tested it out this morning on UMvC3 and HOLY ****! TK'ing Seismic Hammer with C.Viper was so fluid I started laughing! With the regular restictor plate I could only to four reps and it would take me a while, but with the new one installed I was constantly doing close to ten! QC, DP, and HC motions were all so much easier! Today is a good day for me.

Got it yesterday along with all the pre-order DLC. I'm loving the game and it seems like it's easier to dash cancel than it did in Tekken 6. Aside from probably making it easier to do, they also improved the animations as it seems. Right now, I'm looking at Xiaoyu, King, and Jun, but I'm not quite sure who to make a team out of using them.

Killer Instinct Gold

I play a bunch of fighters, some old school too. But to make my list of stuff so far...

Brawl: Marth/Wario
Melee: Marth/Falcon
Killer Instinct Gold: Orchid, Jago
SFIV: Sakura, Ryu
Soul Calibur: Xianghua, Kilik
Guilty Gear X2 (since I don't have Accent Core yet): Millia (main), Faust, Venom (secondary)
Blazblue: Noel (main), Ragna, Litchi (secondary)
SF2HDRemix: Cammy, Ken

I think there's more, but can't remember now.
Killer Instinct Gold on the N64 was way ahead of it's time with wake-ups, pressure moves, juggles and even a parry system long before Street Fighter III made the concept popular. Also, unlike the original Killer Instinct- KIG includes throws and even throw reversals. The game is so deep that if the characters hadn't of been pre-rendered, thus blurry during close-ups, many people would mistake KIG for a thoroughly modern fighting game.

Here's a little video that shows how fun Killer Instinct Gold is to actually play.

Holy hell that's almost as nice as my post is old, lol. I tells ya man, there were SO MANY broken Orchid combos it was amazing.
People still play Killer Instinct Gold although I don't know that anyone has taken the time to make up a proper tier list. Many of the characters seem insanely broken but I guess that's true of every fighting game.

Hey guys, I've been trying to use training mode to practice a few things.

How should I go about using it? I saw on a stream that it was used to check if things were safe on block and whatnot. Also, I've been told that it could be used to practice hit confirms, but I dunno how to do this.

EDIT: Whoops, I'm referring to 2D fighters. Is there anything general?

Record and replay. That's mainly the biggest thing. Record situations and see how you can deal with it. If you have an oki setup, record the dummy and test methods on escaping or how to defend.

You can test if an attack is unsafe if you record the dummy to mash or DP as soon as possible. Jump works as well.

Minato says CPU is good for practicing general confirms.

Aside from AE and UMvC3, fighting games are a bit scrambled right now! I picked up TTT2, but unexpectedly picked up Borderlands 2 and . . . yeah! I would like to play KOFXIII, but the online is just horrid! I don't keep up with P4A, but I'm willing to bet most people will be dropping it once the next BlazBlue and AC+R hits consoles! Also, DOA5 coming out soon!

I just picked up KoF 13. Any of you guys still playing?

:phone:

It's a REALLY good game, but the online is kinda bad with small rooms and there's literally 0 scene even in the city, so unfortunately no. My fighting games at the moment are Persona 4 and SSFIVAE12. I'm also contemplating getting Borderlands 2 which looks fun.

From time to time I do (on my 360). To me, it's the best fighter post '09. It's the HD combos and the matchups that's holding me back on investing time into it. I was never really a fan of the custom combo kind of thing, even back in Alpha, CVS2, and 3S.

I'm not active with P4A. It was another fighter of the month like every fighting game for me.
I'm still gonna play it in some tourneys here and there. It's a shame that Tokido article might make people bandwagon and drop P4A though. However, it is true that I'm gonna move onto AC+R and BBCP.

I played KoF for about a week, then dropped it. It's pretty good, but no one I know plays it, and the online is downright terrible.

Also, I couldn't really decide on characters that I liked, and learning three characters was a pretty big commitment for a game that I didn't care that much about.

I feel like I should try to get back into KOF again, but I can't get myself to do it. The online being poor is a strong factor along with the HD combos turning out not to be my thing. Otherwise, I'm just playing Tag 2 and I'm content with that.

@Lythim
Yeah, learning three characters is a big commitment. Yet, I'd prefer playing Skullgirls.

The netcode for KoFXIII really hurt it, I really did want to play it but because netplay is all I have at the moment...

Now P4A is out, and GG in about a month or so, I don't really want to practice KoFXIII. :/

The thing about the game is that I thought the HD combos would be right up my alley because of all the time I spent playing Alpha 3 and doing V-ISM combos, but alas, it's not. Plus, the execution is such that I always fear I'm breaking my stick. And I don't get that with AE or P4A, except for oddly enough when I play Naoto and have to do the shots. Which is hilariously ironic since I had to mash B in Blazblue to get the silencer shots off with Noel all the time. It's just when I tried out Naoto, it felt I had to "press harder".

I didn't pick up KoF initially because I was afraid that no one I knew was going to play it, but after Evo myself and a couple of friends concluded independently that we were interested in it, so I'll at least be able to play with them.

Haha, yeah. EVO this year certainly made me want to play some KOF. That Grand Finals was the most hype 45 minutes of all time.

It's all cool, it's just my two cents anyway. I still think it's a good game. :3

Anyone picking up DoA? I've heard good things, but I think I'm going to pass on it for now.

Me, me! I'll be picking up DoA5 tomorrow :3

I've been a fan of the series, but not toooooo competitively. It's not really something people get into unless you're REALLY into it. I've told Minato that it probably wouldn't be his cup of tea, but who knows?

But it's a relatively very easy game to pick-up. There are only three buttons, and the grab is a punch + hold, lol.

EDIT: got my copy today!

I don't know if they got it for free, but they have sponsors that could pay for that sort of thing, I imagine. Sony gave them all the PS3s used in the main events, so I'm guessing the DLC probably came with them, though I don't know that for sure.
