Mashing is a funny thing to do, I must admit. But sometimes it's all you can do when you don't know what you're doing. Or when you've barely played and try to competently use King.

I actually think Tekken's pretty hard. Playing someone that knows the game gets you blown up by frame traps and corner combos. Mashing buttons in Tekken is kinda like mashing wake up reversals in 2D fighters. It makes new players feel better about themselves. That's just how I see it though.
I think Tekken is kinda hard too. There's so much to learn in that game.

But I still think it's funny that I almost won just by mashing. :bee:

Yeah, Tekken is just one of those fighters where button mashing can REALLY produce such random stuff that keep even pros guessing. Especially since a lot of basic combos can be pretty damaging.

Though, like most of the time, once you learn the more timing-oriented juggles and some wall stuff, every thing falls into place. Muahahahaha.

People actually are getting into VF again.

I hope that it's like the good days and not the 4 EVO and 5 console hype. I miss this game, everyone I played 3/4 with are gone

Apparently there's going to be a stage announcement for a new Capcom game at Game Summer Festival on Sunday.
Tougeki is a part of GSFes, and from the sounds of it, it might be a new fighter.

This is Thrillhouse's parents.

We are saddened to say that Thrillhouse was ******** enough to play 3rd Strike Online Edition for some reason and killed himself in frustration and shame. Even with a connected PS3 and picking only green pings, it was still incredibly laggy and filled with so many people that only 1/10 people seemed to have any idea what they were doing and still would ragequit when they lose.

We hope that he is able to parry the most ****ing obvious fireball that even in the arcade a blind ******** ape could in heaven.

So...I now own AE2012. Having played Training Mode for about half an hour, Ibuki and Juri seem fun, and I'll always want to learn Sakura (and maybe a bit Cammy). Wanted to try Adon but didn't. Trying to figure out who the hell I should main though, which is weirdly tough since I'm not that great at figuring out what my playstyle things are like. I do know that while I can kind of get the appeal of Makoto, she's definitely not for me.

Yeah, I suppose. I guess sometimes it's easier to start with what you're NOT looking for in a character and go from there. Like, I don't tend to go for the really slow moving characters, super zonky ones, or grapplers that aren't Clark, because he's too awesome to not at least mess around with a bit.

Seems like there's no new game being shown this weekend. Just Capcom making their JoJo HD announcement in Japan.

Random vent thought: Gah Capcom fighters, why you use that annoying qcf, qcb, and pictures for things in your guide instead of numerical notation? 236+HP is so much easier to read and print off than "picture of quarter circle forward + Red fist". Cuts down on the pages too. :urg:

Number notation is the best.

So easy to read at a glance, everything is nicely separated and not a mess of letters. :3

I can't stand that number stuff personally. It's visually unattractive and confusing. I constantly find myself looking at my number pad when trying to figure out what i'm hitting. I don't think it's massively accepted because instead of looking at a number they have a direction to guide what your pressing, which helps people who don't really get rotations. It took me forever to throw my first fireball. xD

Well, it's not massively accepted, but for those who want to get better at the game competitively, you'd better know number notation.

You'll get better at it with practice and practice. It's like sight reading piano. Takes a while, but the results are amazing.

Number notation is definitely the easiest to read and write, but qcf and such are easier to say. In general, I like number notation better though.

I generally dislike Tekken notation the most, because it makes no sense at all.

Is that similar to how MK9 does it where the numbers and letters are kind of reversed so that 26 + hp is instead written as d,f + 1?

To be specific, that's the Tekken Zaibatsu notation. I believe the Korean notation uses the number system and uses LP, RP, LK, and RK for buttons (I assume TAG is for the Tag games). It's a lot easier to read.

I played against a friend in Virtua Fighter tonight and he said Eileen reminded him of me. I lol'd for how hilariously fitting that is.

I feel like all these BlazBlue iterations are killing the overseas interest, where arcades are virtually non-existent and so each new addition to the series affects the fans financially.

The whole "time to relearn your character!" dilemma is less of a problem (and a non-issue to those who are serious about the series anyway) but I think this also serves as a deterrent for those wanting to play or continue playing Blazblue.

then again i quit blazblue since post-BBCS so w/e

i also oddly happen to like more footsies-oriented games

like melty (obv) and i guess you could consider melee neutral game footsies...sorta...

so are there any animu games with an emphasis on footsie play? i guess 3rd strike sorta counts but i'm hoping for a newer game, i look like a retro poverty hipster right now

which isn't necessarily a bad thing

But all those updates don't hurt SFIV. :/

But that has the Capcom name. :\

I think a bigger problem has been that BB has been stuck on the same game for so long, however all those updates to CS were probably a good thing and if we were still stuck with BBCS1 or god forbid BBCT until now then the problems of those games would have probably done far more damage than any amount of updates.

Honestly I don't find BB's footsie game all too different from Melty. I guess Melty is more superior in the air, but BB's ground game is better. Melee's footsies are super important too, so the "sorta" surprises me there. The game's all about space control and the neutral game. lol

I agree with that since that's what made me a little tired of BB.

Well I feel like how similar Smash is in relation to most other 'traditional' fighters in regards to footsies varies on character. Probably me thinking spacies are bull**** though. I play Marth so footsies are pretty "traditional."

I probably feel like BB's footsies game is too limited because tick throws aren't as effective in that game and blockstrings are fairly linear and predictable unless you're playing Makoto or whoever. I assume Blazblue just wasn't my thing though tbh. Pretty sad since I think Tsubaki is a gorgeous red-haired waifu and fun to play...generally.

Not sure if BB's ground game really is better than MB's though: I'd say that's dependent on character rather than mechanics, unless you were saying what you believed what more prevalent in the respective games, then I'll give you that.
