USA USA USA USA

I jumped for joy when they scored. I came back from getting a snack in the 87th minute and I knew they were going to score. I'm hyped for the next match. I hope we play Ghana.

It was only fair that the US moved on. The gringos had their highs and lows with luck, Robert Green and refs which made their move into the next round a bit more dramatic.

Good job gringos.

is it just me that doesn't care in any way about the vuvuzelas? I've never had trouble hearing the commentators or anything..
The main complaints are that it's comprimising communication on the field. Managers/coaches are having trouble getting their messages across, and there's communication errors in instances between things like the goalkeeper and the centre back etc.

Players have also complained that people are playing them at 6 am near their camps and making it hard for them to rest.

It also makes it hard to tell who the crowd is cheering for.

The vuvuzelas are nowhere near as bad as the ball though. Craig Johnson, an Australian ex-Liverpool player (actually scored in a FA Cup final) used to be the head of innovation at Addidas and he talked for five minutes bashing the mechanics of the ball and how it's ruined the game. I agree entirely.

i think the problem is that the ball's specs are different enough to what the players are used to to disrupt their play (ie its light, so they have troble keeping it down on long shots)...but it doesnt break any rules because its close enoght that it isnt outside the legal range set out by fifa.

Clarence Seedorf mastered the ball in under an hour.

These players who are match fit and training with the ball every day should be fine with it.

Chile can produce fantastic long shots with the ball, so really it's just players making lame excuses for that fact that they're playing ****. Should be good though it seems that everyone's starting to step it up.

im not trying to knock you or anything, but almost ALL of your posts have been ball johns
But the statistics support my position.

No-one can keep a free kick down. Only one freekick has been scored so far, and that went on the keeper's side, it didn't go over the wall, so someone is yet to dip a successful free kick over the wall.

Only about 3 long-range goals have been scored, but by this time in 06, there was probably at least ten of them scored.

There have been at least six to seven errors that have resulted of goalkeeping errors. Except that they weren't really errors, they were fumbles based on the ball's random movement. The fact there has been such a consistent spread of goal keeping erros across the teams suggests it's the ball not the goalkeepers, because we've never witnessed such an array of calamities.

Then there's the amount of long balls being over hit, people not reading bounces, and that 905 of long-range efforts go flying overthe bar.

It doesn't mattter whether the players should have adapted or not, regardless of if they're liable, the reality is it had hindered the World Cup. People can criticise the players, but the fact is had they used the old ball the quality would be much higher.

Except Leonel Messi can't seem to find the back of the net. That might be a factor in the game against Mexico. Kid is probably discouraged.
He's used to playing with the great quality team that is Barcelona. Argentina isn't this team, so I'm guessing that is his main problem. I'm all for Mexico though, gotta support my country!!! :bee:

I'm sad Australia didn't pass from the group stage :ohwell:

People talk about Messi not scoring goals but he's contributed to the set-up of alot of them, so his presence is still felt, just not acknowledged.

That is true, I don't like to think of hime as the "best player in the world" as he's being labeled, but he is a very good play-maker. Although against Mexico I can just see Maxi Rodriguez scoring on us like they did last time, haha.

I like Alexi Sánchez for Chile. He impressed me last match.

I'm not really as hyped for tomorrow's matches as I am/was for other days. Ghana vs. US should be pretty cool.
