The only reason everyone wants Brawl doubles is because yesterday at AznForces' tourney, the turn-out for Melee singles was like 10 people. Because of that, we weren't able to the crews. It was a complete waste of time...

I'm sure the turnout here will be more but it will not compare to the turnout of Brawl singles. I doubt it will even be half the turnout for Brawl singles.

What I'm trying to say is consider doing Brawl doubles. Besides, Melee is a much faster game and with the probable little turnout, Melee singles is gonna last for like, what, 5 minutes lol...

Well think about this Brawl singles will start at what most likely around 3pm. Finish at 6 at most? then melee starts at 7pm. finish at 9ish? Ummmm I wonder how many people are dead tired at being at the arcade for more than 7 hours?

Leave the schedule as is, please.

Last time they did 2 events, we didn't get out of there until 1 a.m. And people want 3 events today?

Let's see what happens with the Melee turnout and go from there.

My mistake, I thought the tourney started at 12:00. I figured we might be able to squeeze in Brawl doubles but since it starts at 3:00, that's out of the question...

probably dsf, left before it ended but he was waiting for whoever came out of the losers finals when I left.

also, next time, brawl doubles instead, 12 people came for melee, 64+ for brawl, probably would've gotten more money out of brawl doubles

The text of the bracket is really small, so if I heavily butchered your name, let me know and I'll edit it.

I believe the Zaid vs. Marquez match was a double DQ, which is why they both have an 0-1 record. There are four other players that received DQs, so I'll have to figure out exactly who they were.

Next time make it Melee doubles and singles.

Edit- Props to Dave for being able to handle calling all those freakin' Brawl matches. He clearly enjoyed Melee more as well.

LOL The only reason he enjoyed Melee more cuz he only had to call out the names of like 10 smashers lol.

Anyway, the tourney was fun. Had fun talking to people here and there. My only complaint was against the way the tourney was organized. Apparently there was only a fixed number of smashers who could enter the tourney. This was not mentioned anywhere on this thread. Next time if you guys are going to do "first come, first serve," please mention it on the first page. Especially when a handful of smashers came in on time but were denied entry since the "brackets were full." Also, the organizer wasn't even there to help clear things up. It was pretty dumb. Misinformation really pisses me off.

Also, I want to personally thank Lucky for letting my take his spot in the tourney. I really appreciate it. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have been able to play. Thanks again :)

holy crap im not used to two tournaments in the same month let alone the same weekend. I'm wrecked right now.

ANYWAY.

I had a love hate relationship with this tournament.

its like, it was awesome it was in an arcade, cuz i got to play third strike between matches, and me and plan 9 discovered melty blood lol.

but holy **** it was so noisy. I had a headache when i left. and storm yelling Hyaa! Hyaa! Hyaa! made me wanna shoot myself.

Oh, and what the **** was up with that third TV. the sun rose on FD and i thought the tv was trying to self destruct.

Also, these tourney brackets are rigged. That or DSF and Nezumi are just in love with me. I guess I am pretty cuddly. /shrug.

Shoutouts:

Edge - Holy crap man, get some sleep. I dont wanna see you passin out on tables next time lol.

Blitz - Cool Hanging out with you as always.

Nezumi - you owe me a rematch lol. Im not gonna john, but i defintely wanna play again.

DSF - Our match was too good. Probly the best I've ever played, so glad it got recorded. I swear, one of these days im not gonna be a free pass for you lol.

Futile - Amazing Wario as always, sucks about the TV tweakin out, but c'est la vie eh?

Loveage - GETMAN! stop ****** with G+W. thats an order.

Pbody - DONT GIVE UP ON POKEMON TRAINER! YOU HAVE TO BE THE VERY BEST! LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS! also gj in MVC2, and keep on making those epic caricatures.

Nestor - Man you got screwed, bumped out of brawl, dropped out of melee. We'll see ya next week buddy! dont despair!

Glen - keep on filmin.

first of all i really hate igniting any melee vs. brawl debate because its hurting the community, but i gotta say....you're never going to see people get that excited when they turn on brawl after melee... i have more fun watching melee than playing brawl, and im not even good at melee.

anyways
i like brawl, but today's brawl tournament was a huge waste of time, i wish i just went to see forbidden kingdom with tofu and them, 10 hours to play like 9 matches...whatever.

tofu-thanks for supporting me when i was bummed that i had to play danimals, and our melee set was SO **** FUN
festizzio-always fun man, **** jungle japes!! lol
danimals-nice to meet you and great set in brawl
futile-never get down on yourself because we'll always be behind you, you're too good
claire-it sucks i had to play you twice! fun though :)
nes-nice to meet you, had a lot of fun in melee
gimpy-don't get discouraged, everyone ****s up after not playing melee for a while, just give it a week and you'll be at 90% gimpyfish power level
atlus-your falco is awesome and i love your hat :)
mango-i really had fun in our melee set, thanks for cheering me on, same to joey
DAE(jocun) - major major props for basically running a 70 person brawl tournament by yourself on 4 tv, you did the best you could with what you had
jay-our brawl set was a lot of fun, good stuff
edge and ajax-**** as always

to ffa: run melee tournaments. they are fast, don't clog up the store (brawl tournaments attract first-timers from every nook and cranny) and are endlessly entertaining to watch and play
run brawl tournaments too....with more TVs

oh btw dae(jocun), im sure most of us and myself would be happy to teach you melee, just host a tourny :)

Loveage- It was nice meeting you, awesome fox

Plan 9, Jake, Chris- nice seeing you guys

No more Sunday tourneys. I'm sure everyone is royally ****ed for tomorrow's classes/work. But good ****. Thanks so much for turning items off, it was a lot better this way. Brawl was fun for me, with some close matches, and Melee was too much fun to watch.

festizo- im pretty sure you never finished your frosted flakes story
bgft- it was nice meeting you, see you next time
lovage- what a gay, good job getting in trouble with the rents
kudos to everyone else

"Don't hate the player, hate the game." I <3 the smash community with a passion, but sheesh . . . Brawl?! The Brawl tourny was dead! Where was all the screaming and yelling when the tourny was going on? I threw screams when I saw something that I thought was good when people were playing Brawl, but nobody joined me :( I threw a random scream when Melee was going on and people came in out of nowhere like the f***ing Kool-Aid man to join me! Brawl is boring as f**k!

First shoutout goes to the host!

Dave or Dae - holy f***ing ****!!! You have a loud voice!!! Forget Brawl! We need some more Melee!

Tofu vs. Lovage - best f***ing set of the day.

Nes - Glad you couldn't join the Brawl tourn, but sux that you didn't join Melee!

Haze - Four stocked Maaaannnnngooooooo!

Mango - What else can I say, but Melee?! That game is f***ing amazing!

Lucky - C.Falcon dittos is the f***ing s#!+

Gimpy - License plate is just amazing!

Great seeing alot of people again!!!

I HATE BRAWL!!!

Dae is my real name, but my Dave is nickname so either one is fine by me because they sound alike :p, and also it really depends on the community for what they want to play either Brawl or Melee.

Lovage is too good!

a few things for FFA
1. If you're going to host a tournament AND take a cut of the money you cannot force people to play on an unplayable TV.
2. If you're going to have a cut-off on how many people enter, you MUST announce it on the boards. We drove practically 2 hours to get there, called ahead of time to get signed up, were about one minute away and were told we might not be allowed to enter.
3. More set-ups, more organization, more chairs, more respect for the people playing. Yelling at people who in essence each payed you 3 dollars to be there will not only ensure a miserable tournament, but guarantee that fewer people will be bothering to go back for future tournaments.
4. be more alert of where the plugs are and who is near them. An important tournament match had to be replayed because the system got unplugged.

Considering 1 guy practically ran this chaos by himself, it went fairly well (kudos to that guy!). 8 hours for one event though? No bueno.

Happy Birthday Plan 9!!!!!

DBJ Crew ftw

Sorry Fluff =(

Dae, I'll try to have the bracket for you sometime soon. I don't know when I'll be back in the area.

Anytime Glenn, you can probably give it back on our next tournament.

Well first thanks for the compliment of me running the tournament. The other things to clear up, FFA is just a small local arcade, not something huge like UCLA, IRVINE, where they can use a HUGE room with TV's that's been sponsored by the school. My guess would be only about 40 would come, never dreamed of over 64.

Also I give respect to all players who came to play, BUT if somebody leaves without telling me like go to get something to eat and your match is up soon, thats not my problem, and to think I'm going to wait just for anybody and while there are other players who are waiting patiently for their match, I give more respect than those who didn't. I always give a certain amount of time to players who tells me that they're going to get something to eat. Just a fair warning b/c like I said in the tournament no one likes to wait for X-hours for their next match. I literally had to DQ my own friend (That doesn't make me anymore happy).

I was just yelling as well because I doubt anybody can hear me with all the noise around in the arcade so how am I going to find players by just asking them one by one for their names  (thats going to suck for me i guess :dizzy:)
Oh and the TV's and Wii's that all went out to be believed was a power outage b/c of all the plugs. :dizzy: :ohwell:

I didn't want to be there until 1 a.m. again covering this event because a dozen people were holding up the tourney. Dae DQed six players that were holding things up. It could have been way more, but I made a mental note of who went to get something to eat after I walked over to Panda, so I warned Dae not to do anything to those players.

It's a lesson to all players.
