If sign-up period is at 2 PM I guess its OK to just get there at 2? Or what if there are too many people, could I miss a spot?

Do you think there will be time to practice between 2 to 3? I've never been to one of these tournaments at FFA, so tell me please. thanks.
Sign-ups will be at 2 like it said, you can come early if you wish to wait till everything is set up. Usually they give about an hour for sign-ups to be done. So just come and dont worry about limits.

I'm pretty sure there aren't any, and the only argument most people can come up with is either "you're not giving us a valid excuse as to why you don't like them," or "the only reason they weren't in Melee is because of the random exploding barrels."

Look... items are ****ing ********. You have the entire community bashing on this thread that items should be turned off. In the end, it will be the community that will dictate on what the final rules of the game will be, not EVO... No one thinks they should be turned on (except for maybe like one or two noobs here and there but who gives a **** about noobs, seriously).

All items do is give noobs a chance to win. It shortens the gap between good players and bad players. By allowing items, your changing the metagame completely. And the skill factor lessens due to the RANDOMNESS of the items appearances. Do you realize how many bad players made it as far as they did with the help of items? Tripping is bad enough, we don't need items. How much more bashing do you need to realize how ******** your rules are?

Look at all the work I had to go through, all the mistakes I had to punish to take a stock off an opponent just so an item can **** me over at a low percent due to one stupid mistake and even things out again.

Items are dumb and should be taken out. Just do us a favor and don't argue.
/end.

You guys aren't gonna change their mind, get over it. The items are there, ****ing use them to your advantage. BAWWWWWWWWWWWing over them isn't gonna do anything. One test tourney wasn't enough? Fine. Won't stop me from going. The only item that bothered me at all was Hothead. And now that's gone.

On another note, I may not be able to attend this. Probably too early to say, but it's really up in the air.

I am in full agreement with HugS. I must once again boycott this tournament, and I suggest anyone serious about this game also avoids this. If we let them get away with it, "it" will never end. It is CLEAR that competitive players do not want items.

When I begin holding tournaments, I will choose to avoid promoting regulations(such as item inclusion), which would be a grounds for complaint or injustice.

Again, if you want to host a tournament for casual gamers or kids, you need to say that in your advertisement. Judging by the rules, this tournament is for children. If you are going to include items, it should just be a round robin type thing, where there is no winner, where its just for fun, as Sakurai intended.

In fact, if you are willing to change your advertisement and direct it to casual gamers, I will come to the event and treat everyone to cupcakes. You heard it, free cupcakes

Again people, if you don't like the rules, then don't come, simple as that. Like Rob West said quit complaining because you're wasting your time trying to convince the FFA staff on changing the rules.

meh items are gay.. but Arly is trying to experiement for the possiblity that items might be included in evo. I don't really agree with most of how evo and all, but evo is trying to incorperate items into the tourney, and being evo they refuse to have side tourneys for different parts of smash (teams, items, singles). Arly is trying to figure out what items can be placed be put into the game to make them not broken. I in no way agree with items being in smash at all. Just saying the viewpoint he's coming from clearly.

LOL who are you? i'm pretty sure the people that don't want the items are the people that understand actual gameplay.

On page 1: Please Note: Rules are subject to change.

We just figured this was an invitation to voice our opinions. If the FFA staff feels that the players attending should not voice their opinions, which i'm sure this is not the case, then I guess you are right, jocund.

He's the guy that calls out matches and actually gets people to their stations when one becomes available. Keeps the tourney going.

At least somebody knows me :p

Fine if you guys don't want the items on...I'll somehow convince Arlieth to turn them off within this week. Can't make any promises though because he's the one who told me that he's planning on not turning them off.
So Be Happy :V

No dice guys, like Arlieth said, this will be the last item tournament until EVO. After this tournament there will items-free tournaments after this. So just be patient and go or don't go to this for whatever your minds desire.

I usually go to these type of tournaments riding the bus there and whatnot but with items it has my interest lowered and I'd rather go to a smashfest.

I don't see the logic in "test running" another item tournament. Even if you limit the # of items available, items still influence random, unavoidable comebacks and encourage camping to a larger extent. All someone has to do is grab a Mr. Freezie and be patient if they want to widen (or lessen) the gap with their opponent -vastly-. It lacks -skill-, and the whole idea of competitive play is to play in an environment where skill is the reigning factor. Having no items encourages more skillful play than simply having them on. Please turn them off! :(

Wow. I was gonna travel all the way from SD for this since Winter Drumline's finished and I'm free, but items on? Forget that. Brawl's Singles sucks enough due to camping enough as it is.
