Personally I would've preferred it to be a new Pokemon but if this new forme helps Mewtwo get into smash, I can learn to love it.

Of course we can't say anything with certainty, but we can also make a reasonable guess on the odds of a character. Seeing the promotion Mewtwo has been getting as of late, it can be agreed upon that his chances of making it are really high.

True; I meant it in more of a "This form or the regular form, Mewtwo would be in Smash, that's good either way." kind of way. I didn't mean to say I KNOW he is. Although its a REALLY safe bet at this point. Popularity, publicity, the stars are lined up for him.

I guess I'm just not being very positive, since Deoxys did get the Poke Ball treatment for Brawl, despite being a strong 3rd generation rep for that game. I just fear that even with all the Mewtwo news going on that it'll still be cast away in the abyss, never to return as a Smash Bros. competitor.

I think Sakurai is aware of the backlash of Mewtwo not being in brawl.

Als, as someone pointed out in the character thread, they can buff Mewtwo's weight, while giving his lightweight to his new forme.

I guess I'm just not being very positive, since Deoxys did get the Poke Ball treatment for Brawl, despite being a strong 3rd generation rep for that game. I just fear that even with all the Mewtwo news going on that it'll still be cast away in the abyss, never to return as a Smash Bros. competitor.

Deoxys was more than likely shafted in favor of the 4th generation, since that was the most modern series of the franchise at the time. Plus, Deoxys having all those forms... Sakurai probably didn't want to go through the trouble of making all of them, so he took the easier way out. Not that I really blame him for that, I guess. Deoxys (4 forms) & Pokemon Trainer (3 Pokemon) would be just too much.

Anyway, I definitely agree that Mewtwo is more than likely returning. He was intended for SSBB, after all. It's just a matter of whether or not he'll be able to transform into his original forme. Because frankly, his "awakened" forme would be the one to represent the 6th generation.

What do you know. I too use "Awakened Forme" to reference the new Mewtwo. Of course, I first called it the "Splicer Forme" as a reference to how the DNA Splicers operated.

It's sort of funny. Awakened Mewtwo sort of seems like the Gen 6 mascot everybody's been asking for.

Mewtwo could return with a revamped moveset to include his signature move Psystrike (introduced in BW) and his new form introduced in XY.

And yeah, "awakened" Mewtwo is playing a similar role to Lucario and Zoroark by appearing in a movie shortly before his game's release.

I think Zoroak is unneeded. But I definitely think we'll be getting stages and Pokéball Pokémon from B&W.

Mewtwo is gonna be the mascot for X and Y. It's awesome, cause it feels like a homage to the character.

I suppose this can either work as a final smash or normal transformation. And yes this should confirm that it's totally a new form.

From the looks of it, I think it might be a transformation. It doesn't seem all powerful.

Also, revamp some of his A moves.

If MewTwo lands a role in Pokemon X & Y then he's as good as guaranteed IMO.
Even without that his chances are as high as any newcomer. Good to be cautious though I guess.

This new Mewtwo form has -in my eyes- given Mewtwo a tremendous boost as being able to come back for Smash Bros 4.

I can see them working in a similar way as Samus/Zero-Suit Samus or even Zelda/Sheik..

I remeber Ivysaur had a feminine voice in the Japanese version of brawl. But a masculine voice in the English version of brawl.

...Okay, so that new voice doesn't suit him at all. At all. I can live with the alternate forme, but that voice... by jove, after hearing the amazing Japanese one from SSBM all these years, that is just wrong. What a terrible choice... Nothing against the actress, but why an actress? GAME FREAK, I know you're trying to make Mewtwo mainstream for the newbie Pkmn people and all, but you're just embarrassing yourselves now.
Or at least that director is.

I'll rest easy knowing we'll likely get a much more appropriate masculine voice-over for the cat once the movie's localized.

The transformation sequence is pretty short, and it looks good. I could see that happening in-game for SSB4 if both formes are utilized.
