Also something of note: they're doing all the tournaments of the day simultaneously, so if you entered MvC2, SF2, or Virtua Fighter as well as smash you might have some issues getting to all your matches in time, and apparently playing a match in another tournament isn't a valid excuse either.

With that said, some Houston area people will probably still go, be it for Smash or for the other tournaments. Besides, someone can start a side tournament and show how Smash tourneys are done using the standard ruleset.

It's not even just a matter of time for the side tournaments. There are also space (what about people for other games wanting to hold their own tourneys?), equipment (same as before, and you'll probably have to bring several TVs/Cubes of your own), and attendance (if you hold them on Saturday, how many people will actually be in Austin, since EVO's Smash event is held on Sunday?) issues to consider. That's part of why I still don't think it would be worthwhile for me to go, even were I assured a considerable OoS attendance. I'd really like to get a chance to play the Arizona and Florida guys, but really, I think it would be better for everyone involved if they'd just come to Austin some normal weekend and play here at UT like we do every week. But perhaps not.

I just don't think anyone should count on side tourneys to justify a trip all this way.

I see it like this. Sign up for all the tourneys you want. They're free. Play in the ones you want to play in, and when games conflict with each other, play in the one you think you have a better chance in. Smash obviously gets priority over the other games.

indeed im not the king of houston, but without me HOUSTON would be ****. i give rides(non stop, i get people playing and i KEEP people playing. I hold and help run peoples tournaments. that cant be ignored.

Untill its changed to double elim, me,riot,mouf,se and jakes crew will probly be doing an STD thing that weekend.

Don't be a ***** TGM, you wouldn't make it very far in a DE bracket anyway. This way there's twice as many people being eliminated, thus opening up more space for free play.

You guys will never get better unless you play good people.

i am basicly the only person who will drive places. i have a truck that has over 100k mile son it and it gets 16 miles to the gallon. not to mention i have work,school and a GF.

when i have time, ill travel. when alot of people in houston get cars, they will travel.

It's not like that at all. It's complicated. One of the people might get a ride from somebody else.

LOL I know I know..its just that I made this account in 2004 and I noticed alot of people that made accounts in like 06 had over 1000 posts so I figured I needed to catch up. I don't really care after a thousand though I just wanted the smash lord thing lols.

And did you ask the person that is taking you to evo if he has room for me if I'm at your house? And if I go over like an hour before we leave we can play some team matchs with Taj and Forward assuming they are going to be there ^_^.

IT says on the EVO form we need to be there on the 10th, but the tournament is on the 11th. So they need us there on the 10th but we need to wait until the 11the to play? Or can we just go on the 11th?
