Evolution: A Step Beyond CAP

Now, if a pokemon is already good enough to not need an evolution, like Lucario, then we can make an evolution with a large stat redistribution, thus giving the pokemon a seperate goal from its countpart, and making it so that it doesn't compete for OU space with its previous pokemon. We have seen from the interesting rise and fall of the Porygon brothers that pokemon of the same breed line can both be OU. We can also make baby pokemon, or give Rilou a seperate evolution chain.

So, with my auto-counter ability and the ability that boost bite moves, we come at a cross roads. What route do we take this pokemon? Its stats are obscure enough that we can go in either a defensive or offensive route. So, which direction are we headed? Both abilities point towards different direction, and the stat base of Mawile leaves a wide open field. Could we use both abilities? That all depends on how exteme we want to make it in whichever direction we take.

scyther and scizor have the same BTS but a different distribution, they're different pokes but aesthetically look very similar

I still think that Porygon2 needs an evo. I would suggest a branched line though. The new one could be a Porygon that made it successfully into space. Is no one really up for this?

I think the Mawile evolution is pretty popular right now. Two ideas: offensive with Lockjaw (boosts biting moves) and defensive with Bite Back (passive Metal Burst / Counter, not sure).

How about 2 evos be done? One offense based evo with Lockjaw and the other will be defensive and have Bite Back. The only porblem I see is that this would add more pokemon to the giant list Spire already made.

I added a legend and color-coded the Mawile Evolution in the Gen 3 listing. We should work on multiple Pokemon at a time.

I really don't think our Mawile evolution's mouth should "overwhelm" the body. In my eyes, whenever I see Mawile, I still think primarily that the BODY is the sole controller of the mouth. If we make the mouth too elaborate, we could throw off the balance and make it look like the mouth is controlling the body. Basically, the body should still look "in control".
Have we decided that the design posted a page back is the final design, or may we submit more for approval? I just don't see Mawile evolving into a feminine body type, so I'd like the opportunity to maybe draw some ideas?

Dude, go for it. Though, I'm kind of liking the idea of the mouth taking control of the body. Maybe an alt. evolution instead of a prevo for Mawile?

Yeah except the body would be more Chain-Chompish.....and the string connecting the body and the mouth would extend from the bottom of the mouth (like a throat, almost) instead of the top.

It seems like it might be tricky biting stuff if your head is in front of your mouth.

Cromix also looks quite neat, although is it not going to get any pupils? And what inspired it to be part Dark-type?

Well Cromix, as a natural evolution to Onix, was based off of its Pokedex entries, which in summation state that "when Onix ages, its rocks smooth and harden into black diamonds." That was the basis of this. I chose Dark over Ground because I felt this creature did not represent ground well, and since it seems to both absorb and refract light, Dark felt appropriate.

Type: Normal / Dark
Base Stats: 85 / 103 / 80 / 60 / 90 / 120

Now Raticate has some sort of bulk to abuse Guts, which is really his best go. Base 103 Attack makes Facade / Return his a decent amount more, and a fast base 120 Speed could let him use U-Turn more effectively.

Here's my take on Cromix.

Name: Cromix
Type: Rock/Dark
Base Stats: 55 / 105 / 165 / 40 / 70 / 75

Base stats were decided based on the fact that it's extremely rare (heck, I'm not even sure if it's ever even happened) for a natural evolution to have any base stat actually get lower upon evolving. Along with this, I had to hit a BST of 510 to be equal with Steelix. Onix's base stats are 35 / 45 / 160 / 30 / 45 / 70.

I did a lot of changing since originally posting this, so I'm not entirely sure how to explain it. I guess I just wanted it to be more the aggressive evolution between the two.

The name Cromix made me think it was a Steelix evolution at first though. x.x Anyway, thoughts? I kinda just belted out the stats in a couple minutes, so I don't know if you will find them fitting or not.
