Alright everyone, the moment you've all been waiting for.
To get things started, we will be having 6 Prelim matchups. I've previously stated that debates will start on July 9th. I'm going to change this to July 3rd- July 9th. With judging taking place over that weekend, or when the debates are over. The reason, this tournament was larger than i expected, and so we need to get things going. If you are one of the Pre-lim matches and you can't debate till the 9th. I can make an exception. This will be the place to talk about DWYP as well. Make sure you're not posting topics in the DWYP subsection, anyone who posts a topic in here without permission from one of the mods, will be given a warning, and if it happens again, you will be booted from the contest.
Now on to judging.
You'll be judged on a few things. First off, each judge will give some personal comments to each debate for both contestants. They might compliment you on what you did right, as well as give you some constructive criticism on what you could improve on. Each judge will give a letter grade, and say who they thought won the debate. They will be judging on how well you used sources, if the sources are reliable. They will also be judging on how well you present your side. Don't just list your side, but paint a picture with it. Make it to where you're drawing someone into your side. Most of all, don't be jumping around too much, stay with your topic. I also forgot a huge rule. No editing posts, this makes it very hard for the other debater if you're changing what you've said. From here on out, you will get a warning for editing, and after that. You will lose. You can double post in DWYP, so don't worry about it.
So now on to the match-ups.
First off, here is how DWYP will work. You will be given these set of debates. You and your partner, will decide on which topic they wish to debate, once chosen, you will PM myself with your choice, and who is the affirmative for the debate. (Such as Gay's should have the right to Gay Marriage, that' an affirmative) I will post the topic, and the affirmative will beging the debate.
So here are the topics, and below them are the Pre-Lim Match ups. The 6 winners of these will move on to the main 32 man bracket.
