This post has been removed because the user was in high school when he wrote it and he wants to start using this website again without people being able to see the stupid stuff he said ten years ago.

It really depends on the player. Most of the time I use R for spot and airdodging and L for L-cancel.

I use L for all of my dodging needs.

But in the end... it doesn't really matter... does it? :ohwell:

I used the L trigger...it just feels more natural because it's right by the joystick. All one hand motion, supah quick reflex.

I use Y.

I went back and played Melee recently and got destroyed because I tried to jump out of attacks instead of dodging them.

*thinks*
...
*holds hands like I'm holding a controller*
.....
*looks down*
........

R if I'm getting hit by an airial or projectile, L for everything else.

I use the B button...and no, I don't use a Gamecube controller.

*Looks down at controller* Now that I look at it, it doesn't have have an "R" or "L" kind of trigger.

Always use R, for some reason.

I know most Melee pros use L though. Not that it really matters..

I use R. Allways have. Llike, in Mellee, they callled it Ll-cancellling, and I was llike, "but it works with the R button too." and they were llike, "Llisten noob, just cancell your ****ing llag or get pwned. Got it?"

Which reminds me, I read this somewhere and was bafflled. Does L-cancel stand for "lag cancel" or is it just cancelling lag with L? Because, you know, it was called Z-cancelling in SSB64 (even though you could do it with R... R gets no respect.)

I use R.

I'm still trying to think of what to set L to. I'll probably set it to attack or Jump, but I'm not sure which yet. xD

It may actually not be a matter of choice, but something that is automatic in our subconscious.
I have never used L for shielding, rolling, dodging, ect., but perhaps it is because I'm right handed. My left index finger is naturaly weaker and slower to react as well.

Another thing that might change the side you use is what feels more stable. If I were to use L, it would feel like my grip on the joystick was comprimised and I would risk letting my thumb slip off.

On the other hand, if you tend tend to grab a lot or use zair frequently, switching back and forth from R to Z buttons may seem troublesome, making you naturally gravitate towards using L. Sheild grabbers (like me) would not be bothered by this as much.

L for sure.

R just doesn't feel right for me. Maybe it's because I'm left handed or something, but I doubt that has to do with anything. My left hand handles spacing and defense while my right hand handle's strictly offense.

....or it could just be from using Z all the time from the 64, that could be it too.

L, R doesn't feel good for me, I'm right handed, my index finger(left) reacts just as fast, I'm thinking of setting R to grab, but why can't we click the Z button from all of the button itself, it would be much better if it was like the Z Classic Controller button(but with the GC shape)
