True, but Rabbids are one of the few that managed to share the title with Mario, and I can see Rabbids getting over Rayman.

Well, she is still a very popular Champion nonetheless, on top of what Rie said. And I'd argue she is one of the most recognizable from the outside.

Well, no, I think the excuse reason was part of the RK storyline.

WR is the one with good animations because everything was done from scratch.

Not sure I'd bet on anyone in particular, but I guess a 1st party character would be the safe choice. Pokemon might've actually missed the boat for DLC with Incineroar being the newest character until the next entry. Dixie or Waluigi? Maybe. The Latter especially would cater to a lot of people.

As for hopes, 2nd Mega Man character, MK, KI that sort of thing mostly. Maybe Lara Croft. Hayabusa might be dead in the water, but Ninjas DO show up when least expected right?

I'm seeing a lot of Waluigi predictions and I don't know why. I think it will be him as well, but I don't know why, suddenly on the last day after saying he's not coming to the game for so long, people now think he's CP11.

Honestly, I can only think of two characters I'd react negatively to.

Jonesy and Nahobino.

It's not that those aren't good choices. I just have personal distaste for those two characters. Even then Nahobino can easily win me over with time.

I'm game for pretty much anything else.

I don't like Steve, though I do completely understand his inclusion, I think I'd feel the exact same way about John Fortnite.

If we're talking post 90's characters, than CJ or MC would be grittier characters that I'd be down to fight as. Dante's out, and I highly doubt we'd get Kratos or even Ratchet and Clank. I'm sure there's a lot more but those are at the top of my head.

Whenever Lloyd gets brought up, Yuri, Velvet and other Tales characters butt in. Usually with people saying how they don't like Lloyd.

Tales discourse ain't fun.

I'm not into Tales of games, but Lloyd was voiced by Robin and uses TWO swords like Leonardo. So he's okay.

I've heard nothing but bad things about how the whole build up to the end of the story was a literal mess. Like, even back when I played, the Ruined King was this big, mysterious figure, and it seems like they really didn't stick the landing in the story-telling department.

We'll just have to see what happens with the upcoming Ruined King game (since it's more of a traditional RPG and won't release at the same time as the event), but it doesn't exactly inspire that much confidence.

Not the first writing fumble (while I'm not 100 % familiar with LoL's lore just yet Dota 2's lore has had a few fumbles like "hell's hell" being a thing for some reason and a couple events being kinda underwhelming for the same reasons) but it still feels like a major missed opportunity.

If it means we get Disaster of Passion in Smash I'll take it.

Hell, Strive's OST might be the best of 2021 if you ask me. Case in point:

I 'unno about 'more context', since Viego's whole deal was always really simple.

A lot of the mystique around him was for like, a decade, his identity and his powers were unknown, since, he was supposed to be one of the ultimate antagonists of the world, being king of the Shadow Isles, the area where all the undead horrors come from. Turns out, he was just a really, really sad emo twink who was sad his wife died.

The event basically laid bare everything in regards to him, and once the event was done, they effectively put him away in stasis.

Well the leak was just Nintendo schedule being updated for 2022, and they wouldn't put Smash dlc release there so we still don't know. Personally I'm pretty confident we'll get Smash, I don't really understand why everyone seems pessimistic suddenly when Smash was in literally every Nintendo direct since the game's announcement in 2018.

On a serious note, I remember Necrit (LoL lore Youtuber) saying that they split all the narrative teams for the cinematics, RK and the in-game events. The guys probably didn't talk to each other as much as they should, which is why the cinematics started with a bang and ended on a whimper.

Smash 4 had 2 new characters to show off and 3 new movesets.

Byleth had no Direct to reveal him in, there was no choice other than waiting until March.

Waluigi is probably trending because he's arguably the most well-known first-party left that isn't on the roster. Since this is a Direct that's not tied to any special event and we just had E3, people are looking a little harder at first-party characters. The other two first-parties in this pass (or partially in Min Min's case) were revealed in standard Directs, so it's understandable.
