The only gen they've gone back to and added a character from is Gen 1, and those were exceptions, as Mewtwo was scrapped from the original game while the Pokemon Trainer was devised as a way to represent the human trainers in the game.
Which is irrelevant because Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a current generation game due to being a non-remake title that's coming out before the next generation of games will. Adding a character from the game would not in any way break this pattern.

Technically the remakes are a part of the generation they release in as well, but at least they're recreations of a game from a previous generation.

If you think there is "objective evidence" for literally anyone then you may want to lay off of the tinfoil.
I don’t, as I was questioning the guy who sent the post, who said there was objective evidence, so I was asking him out of curiosity who that said character was.

Was thing about Smash 6 and now it’s gonna be great for a lot of characters that need a moveset change. Especially Luigi. Smash 6 will finally be the year Luigi finally fully branches off from being a semi clone of Mario

he can finally have a proper up B due to odyssey and Luigi mansion 3 and since LM3 was a huge hit, he’ll probably get the burst move as a proper move

what characters are you hoping get upgrades or you are looking forward to seeing be upgraded

Unless they add a completely brand new Pokemon introduced in it, it will.

No because the focus would still be on Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Like, if they picked Decidueye, they would have picked one of the main starters from the game, and the music, stage, and Spirits would all be from said game as well. It would be the Pokémon Legends: Arceus Challenger Pack, not the Pokémon Sun, Pokémon Moon, Pokémon Ultra Sun, and Pokémon Ultra Moon Challenger Pack. The same would apply to Samurott and Typhlosion.

And that's even if the starters's final evolutions aren't regional variants, which is still a possibility.

EDIT: I feel I should clarify that the Gen 7 games are all written out because that's how I like to do it usually. That's not me being pedantic.

For me:
  1. Sora, Crash, BWD, Eggman or Phoenix Wright
  2. No idea
  3. :ultbanjokazooie::ult_terry::ultminmin:ultsephiroth::ultkazuya:
Personally, here's my own picks:

1. I'd absolutely love to see Beat from Jet Set Radio, though other picks I'd be hyped for would be Gigyas/Giegue, Sukapon, MMZ Zero or Vent/Aile from Mega Man ZX, or a really and I mean really off the wall pick of some kind.
2. Realistically, a character I don't think is discussed enough in terms of newcomers is Jason and SOPHIA, from the Blaster Master series. With the series having a storied history on Nintendo consoles, as well as being a Sunsoft rep (which we don't have yet, I'm sorry Mr. Gimmick fans BUT WE SHOULD GET MR. GIMMICK MUSIC), as well as the surprising success of the Blaster Master Zero series - a series with a very notable presence on the Nintendo Switch! Pair that with a unique, as of yet unseen moveset, but one relatively easy to conjure up due to the sheer number of items in the series as a whole, and it's a winning pick!
3. :ultjoker: in terms of pure hype, :ulthero: in terms of moveset, and :ultsephiroth: in terms of wish fulfilment.

I think it would be hilarious if they just insist on Sonic specifically remaining the same. Like, they completely reinvent other characters like Dr. Mario, nearly all of the Echoes, but they're like "no, Sonic is where we draw the line"

If there's one thing I learned from Ultimate base game speculation, it's that no matter how many factors seem to be going against it, Pokémon is inevitable.
That and that Sakurai hates me personally.

Just for the base game.

Once again there are three absolutes when it comes to Smash: a new Pokemon, a new Fire Emblem, and a new surprise fighter (ala Duck Hunt, R.O.B, etc)

Though whether they end up in the base game or DLC (maybe even both?) varies.

Yes, it‘s possible Pokémon skips a generation. With the insistence it has on appearing in base games when possible and the fact that the final character in Smash 4 DLC and several characters in Smash Ultimate’s DLC were chosen specifically to prevent such a gap, it’s quite possible the final character is indeed a Pokémon, especially since the Pokémon last added is already from an unsupport console, and not the gazillion-selling system that Smash is present on

While a soft reset would be the perfect time to change a character's moveset drastically, I wouldn't hold my breath on them actually doing it.

Don't worry Jondolio. He only hates you when building base rosters. He loves you at all other times. :4pacman:

No shade to Riley, I knew what he meant.

If we are getting a Pokemon it would have been revealed at E3, because Pokemon is a much bigger franchise than Tekken is. I expect CP11 to come from a franchise that has a smaller standing than Tekken.

to be fair it would seem that Min Min last year was gonna be the E3 reveal while Steve probably would of been revealed in the September Direct, had it not been for COVID.

Some people think that the two would have been revealed together at E3, like Hero and Banjo & Kazooie were in 2019.

Pokémon's audience is more likely to be to be tuning in to a Nintendo Direct than Tekken's is though. If the goal was to market to the people that would be happy, then having Pokémon at E3 and Tekken in a Nintendo Direct would be a worse option.

I seriously think people are putting too much stock in sales figures and such when it comes to reveals and character additions. The character selection process is not that serious.
Also I'd like to remind you all that Cloud, the biggest newcomer of Sm4sh's DLC, was revealed in a regular Nintendo Direct. no special gaming event.

Because E3 is the time that there’s more than just Nintendo-oriented eyes on the event. Pokémon fans can feasibly be reached with any Nintendo-oriented event, Tekken fans need the extra oomph from an E3 to get the info across. It‘s about audience, not pure impact, that makes for effective marketing (Not sure if true, killer one-liner tho.)

Pokémon has issues with regards to timing, most specifically that we’re already on the dawn of two new Pokémon outings while this is the absolute final character in Smash, but I don’t think target audience is the silent killer of Pokémon.

Sakurai might also be forced to add new Poke Ball summons for Gen 8 Pokemon. If this reveal ends up happening in December, that might be why.

Sakurai might be required to by Game Freak in order to add a new Pokemon.
Game Freak has no power over the development of Super Smash Bros. (or even their own games really). If Sakurai is getting pressured by anyone it would be Nintendo. The closest possible scenario to what your original proposition would be The Pokémon Company convincing Nintendo to do it, but I kind of doubt they'd have all that much sway either.

I legitimately doubt that's the reason Poké Ball summons get added.
It's something extra by Game Freak in order to further promote the new Pokemon games. It would be weird having a Galar Pokemon here but have no Galar Poke Ball summons.

I used to think that too, but I now think otherwise.

To me the big thing is that, had Min Min and Steve been revealed together at E3 2020, what would of they even done with Sephiroth's reveal? Reveal him in the September Direct? Hold him off until TGA and make us wait half a year for the next reveal? Swap things around and have Pyra & Mythra be revealed at the September Direct and then reveal Sephiroth at TGA as usual?

Also going by MondoMega MondoMega 's findings, Steve was seemingly supposed to be released in the last week of September. Had Steve been revealed in a September Direct a few weeks before, it would of fit the usual reveal/release timeframe that the FP2 characters (+Byleth from the first pass) have been going for.

Seems to me that this was gonna be the reveal schedule had COVID not been a thing:

E3 2020: Min Min
September Direct 2020: Steve
TGA: Sephiroth
February Direct 2021: Pyra and Mythra
E3 2021: Kazuya
September Direct 2021: ???

I mean, I don't think anyone doubted Decidueye would be under the Legend Arceus banner if they were added at this point.
It's just that Legends Arceus seems way too new to get into the DLC that likely got finalized around 2018-2019.
Yeah, unless Sakurai got his hands on Legends Arceus concept art around that time if we're getting a Pokemon it would probably be a Gen 8 Pokemon.

No. The Cinderace Nihilists are just annoying lol.
Cinderace nihilists? I like the sound of that. "Nothing matters in this universe. It all leads to Cinderace in the end anyway."
Seriously though, I'd love to believe we're not getting Cinderace, and I would especially like to believe we're getting Decidueye, but I have way too many reasons to doubt it.
