It's set in an old region, and Smash always promotes the new gens. The only representation we have of the remakes are Red and Leaf using their FRLG designs, two remixed tracks from ORAS, and the Partner Pikachu and Eevee spirits.

Sounds like y'all are really cruising for this era of Super Smash Bros. to just end already, which yeah it's been three years so I can't blame you for being tired. Here's a fun lil thought experiment regarding that then! Let's say a direct does happen this week, and within it is revealed one game that's like a dream come true. Whatever that means for you, Mother 3 localization, return to roots Paper Mario, remake of an old classic, whatever. BUT there is zero Smash news and it turns out you indeed have to wait til December to finally end speculation. Would you consider that a satisfying direct or would it be tainted?

Satisfied as well.

Not only am I very much used to speculation lasting forever* but any Direct would bring quite a bit to the table. So even without Smash info I may wind up checking out some other games in the meanwhile.

*(I mean, I only need to look at the Dota 2 fandom where people had to wait for 5 years after the initial reveal / 3 years after official release for the whole Dota 1 roster to be fully ported over. Sure, 112 playable heroes IIRC, but still.)

looool 5 pages of content here in the middle of the night and it's just people being antsy for the Nintendo direct that hasn't even really been hinted at yet other than the September pattern. (Not that I disagree with that speculation, September seems quite surefire)

I got like 10 "this is never going to happen" dream games in the past year so that makes that scenario not as appealing.

That said you put Mother 3 in a Direct and the rest can be WWE shovelware for all I care, still a 10/10.

When I said “Then you have other characters such as” blah, I meant that IMHO, most of them have a good amount of things going for them.
I talked about Frisk. Now if we look at someone like Crash.
Is he GOING to happen? We don’t know! Can he? Yes.
Activision and Nintendo have a good relationship, Crash now has titles on the switch, there was that one Nintendo YouTube video advertising on the theme of “big icons” and crash was in that video, the Skylanders crossovers suggest that if Activision came over to Nintendo for a project, things could work out, so perhaps the vice verse is true as well

For the record, icon status is not evidence at all to me, so I felt no need to say “Crash is an icon, he’s automatically likely” though ofc it would help him ig

Okay but it's still not a remake. It's an entirely new game with entirely new gameplay systems. It's also still a Generation 8 title since Generation 9 isn't here yet, and Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield aren't exactly new anymore. I don't think it's that farfetched for them to pick Pokémon Legends Arceus if they were to promote a Pokémon title due to it being the most relevant new game in the series.

I've actually played that game. I remember it being pretty good, but I couldn't beat one of the levels so I never finished it.

As far as Disney Playstation 3 games go though, Bolt was my jam.

if you wanna get into companies with evidence going for them then there’s

This might be becoming a meme but really if we go all of September without anything Smash related and SMT V sees the massive marketing push I am predicting in September and October, then by October Nahobino will start to be widely speculated beyond just me and Papagenos.

….And if we get past October without the final fighter being revealed then this will no longer be a meme and speculation will indeed be over.

There is no way Nocturne will get spirits this late after the English release, nevermind the Japanese release that is rapidly approaching being 1 year old now.

Edit: The English release is old enough now that I already decided that I wasn’t going to get it and then I spent so much time thinking about that decision that I bought it months later anyway. Nintendo doesn’t wait that long to give a game spirits and they really care more about the Japanese release anyway.

Beats me, Crash has only recently been coming back, while Minecraft’s been über-popular with all ages for a decade and counting. It’s hard to say at this point.

I would love it, it's not one of my most wanted but pretty high in my secondary wanted list. The only problem I see is that personality-wise he would never fight personally, he would force someone else to fight for him instead; so having him on the stage directly fighting you would feel a bit out of character.
They have to use ghosts and design his moves in a clever way so that it always feels like when he does damage, it's done by accident when he's just building one of his inventions or something.

The new Warioware does not have a new character that they're promoting heavily, for the record. There are some notable characters in the game that don't have Spirits in Smash yet, so they could do a Spirit event based on them if they want to, but there isn't anyone new that they're pushing really hard to be the face of this game.

However, they could do an event that's simply based on the characters' chibified in-game models instead of the official art.
