What if there is no smash reveal in the september direct
Sakurai did tell us that it will be a while before the next fighter is revealed

Some people have theorized that the reveal will be some big event that will only be advertised during the direct at most.

Personally I do think the final reveal is too big to just throw it in a direct.

Maybe, we should see around and see for any other signs of a possible direct to try to pin it down more accurately? Or looks for leaks regarding dates for a september direct if people prefer.

I don't expect a second Gen 7 Pokemon over a Gen 8 Pokemon.

looool 5 pages of content here in the middle of the night and it's just people being antsy for the Nintendo direct that hasn't even really been hinted at yet other than the September pattern. (Not that I disagree with that speculation, September seems quite surefire)

Sounds like y'all are really cruising for this era of Super Smash Bros. to just end already, which yeah it's been three years so I can't blame you for being tired. Here's a fun lil thought experiment regarding that then! Let's say a direct does happen this week, and within it is revealed one game that's like a dream come true. Whatever that means for you, Mother 3 localization, return to roots Paper Mario, remake of an old classic, whatever. BUT there is zero Smash news and it turns out you indeed have to wait til December to finally end speculation. Would you consider that a satisfying direct or would it be tainted?

If zero smash news as in, not even an announcement of a Smash Ultimate Final Presentation then yeah it’ll leave a bad taste in my mouth

I’m honestly not too sure.
On one hand there’s characters like Frisk, where she’s got a few things going for her:
Sans outfit yet no spirits, Toby flying all the way to Japan just for the costume is a bit sus, Toby’s got a good relationship with Nintendo as a whole seeing how he’s composed for Smash and Pokémon Sw/Sh, and while this is a bit less objective, she does fit the Second Chance theory and parallel theory that people have come up with.
Then you have likely characters such as Crash, Rayman, Hayabusa, Another Pokemon, and a Phantasy Star character

As someone whose most wanted character is Decidueye, I cannot see him getting in over a Gen 8 Pokémon.

Pyra/Mythra getting in wasn't for promotion/shilling. It was because Sakurai and Nintendo wanted to put them in during the base game.

Pyra/Mythra was a pretty honest pick, I can't look at it as shilling or even all that cynical. A lot of people wanted Xenoblade 2 representation. They're fun characters anyway, so yeah. Though personally I tend to solo Pyra...

no one. There’s no such thing. There’s companies that have evidence suggesting they’re the front runners but there’s no such thing as a character having evidence

if you wanna get into companies with evidence going for them then there’s

sega- specifically sega (Sephiroth’s reveal trailer alongside the lack of mii costumes)

And Koei tecmo (vergeben in his prime said koei tecmo held talks with Nintendo but he didn’t know the outcome or what it was for)
