Hear me out, what if It’s shadow. Daisy is looking at someone next to her on the banner but no one is there. What if she’s looking at shadow and the 2 next to each other is meant to represent the shadow and Maria’s bond. Sonic would then only be down a tad little bit with shadow above him. It makes sense.

shadow would fit in with purple as his background as his chaos control in game is purple if I remember rightly so it would make sense to have his background based on purple.

MH was undoubtedly a smaller series back then, but RE was always a bigger franchise than Megaman and SF, let's not kid themselves.

I don't know how much this comparison really challenges what the OP was going for, I definitely do not agree with the notation that "AA wouldn't be on Nintendo's radar" for reasons I stated in the past.

Frankly, I think that when you base your whole argument on raw numbers and you still have to make concessions here and there (i.e. Bayo and Banjo don't count because of reasons) you do show that it's not the ironclad that you think it is.

There are quite a few characters I’d love to see that are associated with the color purple. Gengar, Illidan, Sarah Kerrigan, Golisopod, Toxtricity, Jena Anderson, and even the Battletoads reboot has been using pinks and purples a lot in their promotional imagery.

Shadow has the same color scheme as Joker, he would be red too.

I just remembered that it’s not just the reboot of Battletoads that has been associated with the color purple. Even the original games used the color a lot for backgrounds.

not necessarily. Jokers background is red due to his smash animation, his animation that was used in smash as his final smash, his RPG elements and his victory screen all being red.

shadows chaos ability in smash is purple. If he got in smash then his background could potentially be purple because it would be based off his chaos ability which is his most important move he has.

again not that it matters much as the character doesn’t have to be related to purple as we’ve seen with a few characters in their backgrounds already. Jokers a bad example due to how the red background is based off his final smash and his victory animation.

not being hypocritical before you say anything regards to nahobino.

Waluigi has a purple hat(very little hair showing), and a purple shirt with dark blue almost purple overalls, his entire top half of clothing would disappear in a purple background.

You are incorrect. The Hexadecimal of Heros coat is very clearly purple.

The top color is Heros Vest, Bottom is the right of his background.

Also, if we're talking about blending in being an issue. Min Min should be practically invisible.

Not specifically, Shadow’s Chaos Control uses the general animation for time-slowing on opponents, which is purple, but the background of the stage and his specific power all use green.

While red fits Joker for a number of reasons, the reason it works purely aesthetically for the fighter’s pass picture is because Joker has red in his design while it isn’t the dominant color and the black and white in his design compliment the red(which is why those are the colors of Persona 5). The picture in the fighter’s pass is a pure headshot with a little bit of the torso showing, nobody is powering up or anything. Shadow would be red.

And as for Nahobino, I can’t help but notice nobody is trying to prove he can’t be the final fighter by putting him in the purple background because everyone knows I am right about him working perfectly with it. Purple is the only color that works with Nahobino.

Alright, this'll be my last serious post for a while. I've gotten decently heated this last week and am starting to feel burnt out with arguing. I'll lurk for a while till we get some concrete information. Sorry for getting a bit too heated.

All that said, Robotniks color scheme does fit surprisingly well into Purple imo

Purple is a volatile color in terms of potential characters for me. On the one hand, Waluigi is the most obvious purple guy and I don't particularly care about him, but on the other hand, one of my most wanteds is also heavily purple:
COLLECT, SELECT, SHOW ME YOUR BEST SET
Alternatively, imagine the insanity if we got the Lloyd costume with Kazuya's Challenger Pack only to get Certified Purple Dude™ Yuri Lowell immediately after

I'm sorry I don't get it lol not trying to be rude.

On a personal note I pretty much always ignored the standard color wheel approach because I found it limiting. Especially in professional settings like frame mounting when choosing mattes etc that said there's many ways a purple background could emphasize the foreground without relying on green to offset it, but that particular shade of purple is going to work best with many greens from army green to bright green and everything in between.

On the other hand colors directly adjacent to purple typically clash if too bright and blend if too dark.

No, that is his over shirt(as opposed to his black under shirt).

His vest is brown like his hair.

The further down you go on his design the less purple there is.

Considering how it his hair that is dominating the portrait I don’t see how you can think he is blending in.

not really because the character itself doesn’t need to be related to the colour purple and even if it was, a lot of shadows powers still use the purple colour so he still has connections to the colour purple.

if I remember rightly the chaos control freezes opponents I sa2 but the timer countdown is purple,

chaos spear in 06 is purple when first released,

in generations he has the glowing purple energy beam around him and the charge up of chaos spear is purple,

in sonic chronicles his chaos attacks are purple,

in sonic battle his attacks are purple. A lot of his moves use the colour purple anyways so he has connections to them without relying on smash bros ultimate’s chaos control as a way to say he’d have a purple background.
