So ... Yeah. Dunno what that really means other than I'd expect the graphic on top of the purple to pop in these greener hues.

Don’t get my hopes up like that lol. I already feel like I’m doing that myself with the purple background for the Battletoads. Saying the character is likely to also be green is just too much.

Was thinking about how the purple background could put Layton out the running……… then I remembered that the covered box art for professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright, professor Layton and the miracle mask and the professor Layton mobile game is purple and the villain of the first 2 PL games in the series are puple themed villains and the villain of the crossover is purple themed meaning professor Layton has a heavy connection to purple.

thanks, and uh anything taito related in smash seems suspiciously missing for a game celebrating VG history. also fits in with some theories (like voiceless theory) and like i could see it having a purple background and stuff

I am not sure on that, as we have not gotten many retro third-party characters in passes 1 and 2. Sure, you could count Banjo-Kazooie, but Space Invaders is way older. Not saying it can't happen, but I have my doubts.

It was literally made as a joke theory, or at least a fun "what if?" It isn't an actual theory and it never has been. Please stop believing everything that might even slightly point to Nahobino, no matter how much of a stretch it is. It's getting on literally everybody's nerves.

Seriously, take a picture of Nahobino’s in-game model with your phone and then scan him in your photos to determine his shade, it is directly adjacent to this color, the ONLY shade that works for his portrait.

It is amazing how I don’t care about fashion or matching colors on clothing and my grandmother used to tell me my eyes didn’t detect color well enough but yet I got Nahobino’s match EXACTLY right without even using photoshop or anything.

Dude, this is the smash speculation thread. As long as it can be twisted into character speculation, it is not off topic. Even a photo of Sakurai´s bedroom is enough for someone to claim a theory on the next character.

Funnily enough we actually did have some theories going around about how FP2 mirrors FP1, therefore CP11 is purple. Funny how that works.

Anyways given some of the less-obvious choices with colors (Terry, Byleth, Sephiroth, etc.), we can assume it's anyone with some purple on them. Seems like Waluigi is the first one people go for, alongside Rayman. There's also the possibility of Yuri McMurderman, which would be extra funny right after we got Kazuya and the Lloyd Mii. I know Speed Weed brought up a Phantasy Star character, but I don't know enough about the series to really say on that one.

Chances are it's gonna be someone completely unexpected who just so happens to have a small bit of purple on them and we never even thought of them. Wild Woody with a purple eraser for his redesign, you heard it here first.

It could in theory be a placeholder but its fun to speculate on.

Yeah, color theory is nice, but it's just a theory. It's not straight evidence. Note down below I'm not speaking on color theory alone, but more of how colors are actually used.

That said, you can ignore the theory part, because we have data of the website that tells us the color, according to a leak anyway. So grain of salt. That's at least something to chew on.

That doesn't pinpoint anyone, but at least "has a relation to purple in some way" is plausible.

Incidentally, this is the first actual evidence we've had of the character coming super soon, so... now I'm 99% sure it's September. That's what I was waiting on. Real information.

Syrus in GX:

• Has no duels focused on the main plot, and even when he does, he ends up losing them.
• Is a simp for a Duel Monster (Dark Magician Girl). FROM YUGI'S DECK.
• CREATED THE SUPREME KING.
• Is only in GX to play the support role and doesn't have any major plot importance in ANY SEASON.

IIRC, aren't Octolings associated with both green (in Octo Expansion) and purple (in Octo Valley/Canyon)?

Wasn’t the NZ site the same one that did an oopsie and revealed some kind of bonus content after CP11 that likely isn’t a fighter but may be some other form of paid content like stages or music? I doubt that’s a coincidence with this dark purple thing
