At least the font used for the two F's uses the font from the Final Fantasy logo, which has the benefit of being easily recognizable throughout the franchise.

Gonna be honest? I barely noticed that at first. I only noticed SF better due to having a lot more style.

But to be fair, neither are great, so fair point. They could've done better.

The logo is generic, but the universe was confirmed as FFVII itself, at least as of Ultimate. It's unfortunate. I do hope they add another "universe" like FF1 etc.

• Kinda funny that Metal Gear's logo is the only one in the series to have changed.
• Mega Man's logo should probably be his helmet since that's more universal.
• PUNCH-OUT!! also just has a boxing glove as it's logo. It's fine 'cuz like, what else would it be, but if you wanted you could spice it up by adding the little hit effect like you can find in the Wii game's title design.
• Xenoblade Chronicles's logo being the Monado makes sense, especially since a Monado has appeared in every single game thus far, but it might make sense to change it if another symbol becomes more relevant (or if by some freak of nature Xenosaga and/or Xenogears get merged with it).
  • Should probably make it the entire Monado though.
• I think the stylized "SF" works for Street Fighter since the logo is often just the title, and you could tell right away from the font that it's Street Fighter.
• Persona 5's logo is nice, but it will probably have to change if they add any characters not from Persona 5.

Side Note: Does it bother anyone else when series are miscategorized? Like, Persona 5 is the game not the series. Final Fantasy VII is the game not the series. The scope of the Fatal Fury series is way beyond just Fatal Fury. Same with PAC-Man.

If everything is as usual and there's nothing like a Sephiroth Challenge or special Spirit Events like what we got with Persona 5 Strikers or GnG, it'll mean that we'll get something like this:

[Spirit event] "Run through the times! Sonic Series 30th Anniversary" will be held for 3 days from 6/25 (Fri.)! During the period, many Sonic series spirits will appear on the spirits board. If you win the battle, you will get more gold than usual. #Smash Bros SP

Okay so this is something to talk about...

So I knew that around this time we were gonna get something Sonic related, whether it be the anniversary post, or something like that, but I didn't expect this spirit event

However there is something to keep in mind. This is the anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, and Sega is really celebrating the anniversary this year, like they usually do. We just got the Minecraft Sonic Crossover today too

Sega might have mandated or urged Nintendo to do the Spirit event on the actual day of Sonic Anniversary. This is something I've argued for when it came to the Pokemon Spirit event and tourneys also.

We see that certain events have been saved for when that franchise or game is on anniversary or Release of it. Octopath, Trials of Mana, Bravely Default, Monster Hunter Rise, etc all got some sort of event in this style too.

Now here are the things to keep in mind

-Because the Event isn't posted on the News page as of this writing, it's unknown which specific spirits are in the event. However it's really interesting that Eggman, Tails, Shadow, & Knuckles are not in this event. granted Knuckles doesn't have a Spirit battle, and Eggman is WOL only, and WOL only Spirits aren't in events. with that being said, there also doesn't seem to be any New spirits added

-Fire Emblem had 2 Spirit events before Byleth got in. Granted 3 Houses was not represented in the event, but on that Same logic, If there are no new Sonic Spirits, than this event is just using the Sonic Spirits that are already in the game. If another Sonic character got in, they would come with New spirits. This is not something like the Pokemon Event which added Gen 8 Pokemon and such


So I do think this is something to keep in mind, However unless it turns out there are new Spirits in this event, I'm not actually gonna give up on the Dream of another Sonic character, or in my Case, on Shadow being in FP2.

I wish we got more proper costumes for characters. Seeing Samus' new suit in Dread made me wish they did more with giving characters outfits. I'd kill for the Dread suit.

I get it takes more effort than a color swap but it feels like a missed opportunity.

Ah OK. I've only played Fire Emblem: Awakening, Fire Emblem Warriors, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Two of them have the Binding Shield and...now that you mention it I think the Fire Emblem in the other is something super weird and spoilery...

There's plenty of potential emblems that could be used series-wide other than FF. A crystal, a Chocobo, a Moogle, heck they could probably get away with putting a Black Mage as their emblem.

My guess is Ninty was unsure about what to do with FF, to either keep milking VII, or shill a new game because Square said so (let's be honest, it was either FF7 or that), and in the end they just went with the former
