At the risk of sounding like C chocolatejr9 here, what’s Gran/Djeeta’s advantages over Euden as a Cygames rep?
I'll answer this.

Frankly, I view neither as likely candidates, but:

G/D:

Positives:

Are the main characters of Cygame's flagship IP.
Granblue is big in Japan, and has been experiencing huge growth over the last few years.
Lots of spin-off material like anime, manga, and spin-off games.

Cons:

Will literally never be brought over to the US to skirt around any potential gacha laws. The game is fully in English, but they have shown no desire to bring it stateside.

Euden:

Positives:

Dragalia is co-owned by Nintendo(And from what I heard, Nintendo gets most of the say in how things go), so they'd probably face very little resistance.

Cons:

Everything else. Dragalia is in a rut, it's not really growing and it's not really profitable either.
Europe.

So, PushDustin just reaffirmed the reason Ayumi was cut from Melee.
There was a problem fetching the tweet
That said, if I were Sakurai and I still had more time at the time, I wouldn't let that stop me.
When you're a Japan only character but Sakurai let's you in Smash anyway due to extenuating extremely lucky circumstances:

"Bandai namco never getting a second rep" 😔😔😔

Can you hear that? The Pac-Man fans are laughing at us. Laugh as they nom their way across Bionis and Hyrule and Midgar and Fodlan. Laughing as they nom their way around Green Hill Zone and Mushroom Kingdom and Popstar and Spiral Mountain.

Heihachi fans have been meditating on this matter for so long, and made peace with their reality. Now they're laughing at us too. Laughing at Lloyd. Laughing at KOS-MOS. Laughing at Agumon. Laughing at Solaire. They know that we will never even have our chance at the relative peace they know, and they find it hiliarious.

Together they watch in a chorus of laughter as we struggle; each of us crawling over each other, convinced hope exists. Convinced Lloyd losing his Mii Costume was a good sign. Convinced that Xenoblade's success will herald the rebirth of Xenosaga. Convinced the rivalry between Pokémon and Digimon will finally get to shine. Convinced Bandai Namco care about the fact the Soulslike genre is still going strong outside their trilogy.

They laugh cause they know we've got it all wrong. They laugh cause our agony fills them with comical glee. They laugh because they know that we will never experience the peace they've found.

Don’t know if you guys already discussed switch 4k revision rumors, we know that is going to be released by september/october and that would be a common date to release last CP. I hope that at CP11 presentation, Sakurai shows a patch for Ultimate running on the newest Switch hardware. (with 4k resolution).

I don't think that is the case. Someone I trust has said their contacts who would know about a dev-kit for that haven't got one; and that time-frame doesn't add up.

Not everyone gets devkits at the same time, though. For instance, by and large, a western indie would get them substantially later than a big Japanese company.

I’m a true believer that somekind of revision is coming by early fall, Bloomberg and Emily Rogers said and they are very truth worthy sources.

Though, I also agree that is a little suspicious that supposedly a more powerful switch is releasing going to be announced in 2 weeks and there isn’t any leak with technical specs. Both PS5, Xbox Series and Switch itself got their specs leaked month before launched into the market.

Considering the prestige of the people who have already reported that to be the case it seems like your friend may just not be in the top of the shortlist to get one.

Edit: that may have come off a bit rude. Wasn’t my intention. Just an observation.

Even though the Mario character conversation is done I think King boo is one of the next mario in line for a spot on the roster

He's the main antagonist in the biggest of the mario subseries's and also a recurring villain in the mainline games too.
on top of that he has a ton of move set potential compared to most other Mario characters. and LM3 is the biggest game in the series, I think it's either at 9 or 10mil right now so he is a pretty recently relevant character. though i think he is more next game potential then DLC.

Yeah, King Boo seems like a good pick for a loose-ends addition.

We’ve officially hit that slow before the E3 storm huh?

Here’s a thought process. If at the end of FP2 they said there was going to be a “Stage Pass” that filled out the remaining slots on the Stage Select Screen that costs $5 for 3 past stages. What stages are y’all bringing back?

Here’s a list in case you forgot what stages didn’t make it back.

For me:
  1. PAC-MAZE
  2. Jungle Hinjinx
  3. Orbital Gate Assault
Edit: forgot about OGA

Just for the record: My post was more that I disagree with it being assumed a fact; not that an assertion that my contact is omniscient.

Not that I deny the lack of Pac-Maze is insanity(though I get why)... I admit I'm not bothered either. But only cause I didn't find the stage fun. I'd be fine with it back too.

Anyway;

  1. Sector Z(No, I don't care that Corneria is similar, but at least they're distinct in size and the hazards are only similar overall. There are actual differences in them)
  2. Metal Cavern(Metal Mario's stage. I would love it back, even if it's just a non-playable one).
    1. Assuming that's not an option, Planet Zebes(It does its job which is to be a neat and fun stage)
  3. Mute City Melee(Seriously, the lack of this suuuuucks).
...Yeah, I admit I like some older ones that aren't necessarily unique, so eh.

Since it was mentioned, Pyrosphere's return would be neat too. Generally, give me 'em all~

Yeah, only Mario and Luigi are Marios. :4pacman:

And that is why Pokémon, Digimon, and Yokai are the most appropriate options...
Well, Wario Wario and Waluigi Wario are theorized by some to be cousins or even long-lost brothers of the Marios.
Does Waluigi even exist? Are we sure he's not a hallucination caused by performance enhancing shrooms they take offscreen in the multiplayer games?

2014 Today "Mario Kart 8" (Mario Kart)8) Released !! The Switch version ported from Wii U is a monster software that continues to sell to anyone. Smash Bros. has a stage that incorporates the anti-gravity of the same work. Stage production is also complicated .... Only this photo, Wario, has the correct direction of gravity. #Smash Bros SP

Look at all these characters that could potentially come with Euden if he came to Smash, be it as Spirits or stage cameos!

Yeah, I know I'm not good at starting discussions...

Wasn't Melee the same game that had Marth and Roy before Fire Emblem came to the west?
(Same as Lucas for Brawl who's game will never be localized.)

Yes but the difference was they were about to bring Fire-Emblem over. Famicom Detective Club was not-coming, and as a franchise wasn't it over?

He probably considered Ayumi for the retro rep slot which eventually went to ICs (to be fair, he considered a lot of characters for that role), and didn't want to have to cut that position in localized versions, which was the original plan for the FE characters. Especially since that character turned out to be a starter used in promotion.

Also, Lucas was added prior to Sakurai learning Mother 3 wasn't going to be global.

I don't think Nintendo was planning on bringing Fire Emblem over until after Melee released as Western reception to Marth and Roy was positive.

I'd hesitate to call her cut, I doubt he thought of her for very long. It was probably "Ayumi? No. NES Golfer? No. Ice Climber? Holy **** yes."

It was both a combination of Melee and Advance Wars, but yeah, Marth and Roy in Melee helped Fire Emblem come over, not the other way around.

This is kinda off topic, but the Smash mod I talk about all the time is going to be holding a tournament tommorow, with only new characters allowed. t might be an interesting glimpse at what some of these characters might look like if added to Smash proper.

Smash Bros mod with extra characters? I'm intrigued... not least because I'm interested in the idea of trying to make a character mod of my own (just incase reality decides to be more unreasonable than my splendid theories of who should get in)

Difference was that Fire Emblem was continually getting new installments in Japan, with one (Binding Blade) being in development at the same time as Melee. Famicom Detective Club's most recent game at the time was on the Satellaview of all things, so it wasn't a franchise that could be considered ongoing.

As for Lucas, I think Sakurai assumed Mother 3 would get localized. He was even planning on cutting Ness entirely, but he ended up adding him back in after he found out Mother 3 wouldn't be released outside of Japan.

Tetris deserves a stage.

Actually a stage might be a fun thing to give Monster Hunter. With Hazards On in a timed no-stock battle, if monsters slain count as a kill, it would make for an amusing and fitting tribute.

And then we can end with something we should have gotten a long time ago... a dedicated Bowser's Castle stage.

Modern Kirby stage as well, there was originally going to be an Epic Yarn stage but that was cut back in Smash 4.

I love Waluigi...'s role in the Mario games. I'd rather have Toad in Smash, but it's undeniable that he's not only going to make it in before them, he'll make it in before any other Zelda character. It's not "if", it's "when".

I don't think Ayumi is happening in Ultimate because she's still far too niche for Nintendo to have made that request about an unreleased game, but even if she wasn't... Ultimate's DLC has bought a lot of new gameplay to the table, but the one thing it hasn't done is bring in a representative for a completely new genre. They're all still from the same action-oriented platformer/RPG/fighter mold. I think that a puzzle/point-and-click/visual novel rep would be so unique that they'd have to be planned and designed from day one of development, and the DLC only allows for 7 months of focus on each character.

Or I'm overthinking that and it's just because the non-action characters are "still too niche" to be sold separately.
