Admittedly, I haven't checked, but people on /v/ this morning were claiming that some "insiders" reported that a Luigi's Mansion 3 spirit board leaked, which would come with King Boo. I'm assuming that's the main point of discussion.

They had to get Xander Mobus back in the recording booth in early 2019 for Joker, I'm sure they did one last batch of recordings to cover any DLC possibility (Byleth was also in this batch). I'm sure most Pokemon had names by then, especially the big ones they would actually add.

I'm assuming they did that to get him out of the way.
Plus, didn't Persona 5 come out during the year Ultimate start up planning? That could explain why Joker is exceptional.

TBH I wouldn't even be mad if a LM character was part of the pass. I'd actually enjoy seeing the chaos unfold in the Smash community as feelings and opinions are thrown all over the place.

Sometimes there’s no rhyme or reason to post release spirits. I feel the Warframe spirit (Lotus) was by far the most random

Joker probably got lucky since there are several ways in which "Joker" could have come up on his list of Red Herrings. It's not exactly an uncommon name or concept.

One game that often comes to mind during this topic is Catherine Full Body. I think the game is a masterpiece and I would like to see it get a spirit event or maybe even a mii costume. I don't think we would get Vincent though, I can't imagine a moveset for him.

Also, I would love to get a Destroy All Humans spirit event for when the Switch port arrives. Seeing that game get any kind of content would be splendid for me.

Considering Nintendo really made a spirit event 2 years after Octopath Traveler came out, and called it "Octopath Traveler 2nd Anniversary!", anything is possible... That's why I live in constant fear of a Dark Souls spirit event, lol

Wonder Boy as a franchise is probably pretty low on the list of potential Sega IP's for Ultimate but man getting music from them (including Monster Boy) would be fantastic to have in Smash:

They don't actually give any information beyond just saying it's happening, unfortunately. Someone tried to photoshop a potential Gooigi spirit battle, but it's pretty poorly done.

Honestly just a lot of the smaller Capcom stuff. They've got a lot of really good character designs that unfortunately probably wouldn't get in Smash anyway - I don't think we're getting anymore Capcom Mii costumes after that last Mii wave, let alone playable characters, but just, like, a Viewtiful Joe or Batsu Mii or somethin would be neat

Klonoa and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. One is too new and outclassed by quite a few other indies, the other just never got a chance.

The more I think about it, I could actually see King Boo as the next challenger.

Beyond just Luigi's Mansion 3's suspicious absence from spirit events, it wouldn't surprise me if King Boo was originally considered for FP5 as the 2019 Nintendo release rep, but was beat out by Byleth due to Three Houses having better timing. Perhaps Sakurai really liked the idea and decided to put King Boo into the second Fighters' Pass? It would be a variation on the second chances theory, since this is a cut FP1 character rather than a cut base game character, but it would still fit the general theme.

Plus, ghost powers, tongue-fu, and a portrait final smash would be pretty badass.

That being said, the /v/ leak is 99% fake and, even if by some miracle King Boo does happen, that was almost assuredly a lucky guess.

Don’t forget Ninja Gaiden, the trilogy launches June. Then again Hayabusa was already deconfirmed beforehand

and also, Undertale. Until support officially ends, even for Spirit Events, I will hold out on this happening it just HAS TO HECC U

Aside from any of my MWs that don't make it in by the end of FP2 (which include LoL, Ace Attorney, Puyo Puyo, Klonoa, etc), I'd say Lobotomy Corp./Library of Ruina, Genshin Impact, Hades and Hollow Knight.

Oh, loads. To pick an example that comes to mind - besides my MW in the event Gordon, Heavy or Chell is chosen as the Valve character, which I wouldn't mind - I wouldn't mind seeing at least something from Okami or Viewtiful Joe. Assuming that they don't get playable representation of course, but that feels remote considering how much Capcom has (Dante, Phoenix, Chun-Li, and the list goes on).
