Hey, at least I'm not bringing up Euden unprompted again!

...

Dang it...
I may not like the idea of Euden at all, but there's a big difference between talking about your unlikely fav and randomly going off at a character who wasn't even part of the conversation. Like, people were talking about Capcom's library earlier, imagine if I used that discussion to **** talk Euden

If Zero gets in, then we need his lightning loops.
Ah yes, the original Lightning Loops. Luckily enough :ultpichu: learned from Zero:

:4pacman:

Finally, we'll get our Zelda rep in Smash!
Monkey's Paw: The Fairy plays like a mix of :ultyounglink: and :ultzelda: . Complete with projectiles that chain into themselves and or / aerials.

No, there's something missing...
Modern. Representation.
CoD: Modern Representation huh? Certainly not the sequel to Modern Warfare I was expecting, but hey. :4pacman:

You're right! Let's talk about Crash Bandicoot!

Nintendo being at E3 really makes me think that Crash Bandicoot is going to be the next fighter.
Question: do we know if Activision will be at E3 this year? I'm not saying that would affect his chances, but it would be weird if they weren't...

Nah bro you see the recent games? They had Ronald Reagan be supportive of nonbinary people, now THAT'S proper representation, after all, Ronald "lmao I'm gonna do **** all about AIDS " Reagan is the most supportive of LGBT rights a politician's ever been

Speaking of Crash Bandicoot! That totally reminds me that my uncle, Crash Bandicoot, told me that Crash Bandicoot (No relation) is totally going to be in Smash. I was so excited to hear that my favorite bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot, is totally going to make it into my favorite party game! And I have total faith in his claim as a Bandicoot would never lie.

Crash Bandicoot.

Nah, Ivander's list literally feels like he just opened wikipedia pages and copied game titles. But I could actually see Amaterasu, Strider or Spencer in Smash some day.
Nah, alot less Wikipedia and alot more memory and looking at crossovers in their games, like in the case of Princess Tomato since she's a character in Super Bomberman R. And yes, Gaiapolis and Mystic Warriors are pretty obscure Konami arcade titles, but I actually know about them through watching old game playthroughs, like Shadowserg's Beat-em-ups/Shoot-em-ups and whatnot. You'd be surprised at the obscure stuff I can find and remember, like Shadow Force, Arabian Magic, and PN-03.

But seriously, the only time I used Wikipedia was just for remembering the names, like Resonance of Fate, since I clearly remembered the characters from Project X Zone, just not the name of their game.

Nah their participation would mean nothing, Crash would get shown off at Nintendo's showcase and you don't need to have your own conference to have trailers shown off

As of this post, Activision is not confirmed to be at E3. It could change in the future though.

Edit: That and as Gwen stated, a Crash reveal would be on Nintendo's E3 presentation, not Activision's

If I had a penny for every time you randomly whipped out your hate boner for Crash for absolutely no relevant reason at all, I'd have enough money to bribe all parties involved to put Crash in the game and have money to spare
Actually you'd have zero pennies because it's not a hateboner for Crash, it's a hateboner for people insisting that the next character HAS to be Crash every single time, despite everything.

I know you're somehow from a parallel world where things are different but in this reality, you brought up Crash completely unprompted as you've done several times before. What's the matter, Nelson-kun? Could it be that... You're craving Crash's wumpa fruit?

Activision's presence is typically in that their games will be in someone else's showcase and it depends on what the games are and any brand deals they have going on.

If by "wumpa fruit" you mean "love from modern Smash fans for my preferred characters", yes.

Nelson brings up Crash again
Everyone else:

If you don’t like people saying Crash is a lock...don’t bring up crash. No one was talking about him before you brought him up. Then again Crash is objectively one of the more likely picks to show up so idc.

I just like that we had a topic like this on Thursday where the point was brought up that if a character being so well regarded and popular actually irked you to this degree, that you should go and do literally anything else.

At this point you're just hurting yourself.

Nah, if we look at this hypothetical scenario about version exclusive characters, would you really pick Banjo when you know that the Sony version is also allowed a guest character of their choosing? Not to mention we only got Banjo due to Minecraft shenanigans
Just like how Spawn the iconic Microsoft character was chosen for the Soul Calibur II Xbox version exclusive while Heihachi (almost Cloud) for PS2 and Link for GC. It seems like you are implying it would be Master Chief for Smash but as previously stated that is not even how the DLC has turned out with Microsoft for Smash. To be fair though, during pre-DLC speculation, the thought of getting Steve AND Banjo before Master Chief would seem unlikely.

It hasn't been nearly as bad as Geno, but I'll admit that Crash has been overestimated by a lot of people. I've lost count of how many rumors Crash has been involved with that never panned out.

Nothing against the character himself, but I've been hearing, "Crash is next," for about two years now. I'm left wondering when or if people will start being more reserved with their expectations, even if Crash is actually part of this pass.

I'm pretty sure Smash and Soul Calibur aren't nearly as close to sales to each other, nor are the deals done the same. I'm not a SC fan but we know for a fact they originally wanted Cloud for the ps2 version but SE said no, not to mention that the Xbox brand was what, 1 year old back when SCII came out?

No, but I feel like the "be grateful that they're in the game at all" posts from earlier were meant to suppress discussion of characters that aren't the common predictions.

DLC hype season being over. FP2 characters being too complex for Crash to be a part of it. Sorry I don't make the rules.

I don't think "outdated" is the right word to use, lack of Yakuza aside, but we need some of those veterans from the first All-Stars Racing back.
Maybe not but I was having a hard time choosing the word anyway. I feel like a lot of the cuts from the first game (and Bayonetta) ended up being unfortunate and that they missed out on a lot of franchises that have gained steam this decade that should definitely be looked at if a 3rd installment is ever made. Not that I think what they chose was that bad last time around, it's more that there could be a significantly bigger roster now that some time has passed. Unfortunately TSR set a bad precedent for that franchise's future.

...aaaaaanyway

Yeah. I think we may at LEAST get a Mini this week if nothing else
Honestly, the original way this leaked feels disgusting, the Mario figure would call out for the yet to be announced Luigi figure, ignoring the hilarity of the toy leaking the existence of another toy, it feels wrong to have a toy ****ing guilt trip owners into buying more

I think Sakurai used up all of his creative juices with Steve & MinMin and now he is trying to relax, which we see with Pyra/Mythra. Not to say the duo is entirely simple, but Banjo levels up complexity could be appropriate which is honestly how I think most people see Crash.

My word, the Crash discussions have been run into the ground. Not even for saying how likely he is, at this point; Like 80% of it is just people insisting that he isn't iconic (Which just isn't true, even if how big he is has been exaggerated a little), or that he's not unique enough (Which is the single weakest argument in the history of Smash spec) or some crap, arguing against supporters who haven't even said anything yet. And we do this constantly, twice a week, it feels. And whenever we get dragged back into that loop of well-worn debates that go absolutely nowhere, my mood goes from this to this.

Maybe it's because I literally just got up and I'm still booting up all my systems, but at this point I'm just genuinely sick of all the Crash talk. I don't want to hear about how likely he is, I don't want to hear about how unlikely he is, I don't want to hear about him at all anymore, period. Let's move on and talk about someone else for once.

I don't now man, DMC spirits absent seems kinda sus to me. We even got RE and Monster Hunter spirits in the game, but no DMC? The same would work for Ace Attorney following that logic, but that Kamiya poll from 2018... Hmmm...

Good ending: The last two fighters are both Dante and Amaterasu.

Btw, happy early 15th anniversary Okami!

Crash Bandicoot.
And this is what happens when you "Woah!" too much:

:4pacman:

I say let the people saying Banjo would never be in not-Smash have as much confirmation bias as they want. A literal fake game is all they have left anyway.
Okay, I don't mean to be (too) confrontational, but for the lack of a better way of saying it: Can I just say that I intensely dislike the notion that "Once a character gets in, you win all arguments"?

Maybe from a standpoint of "Who'll get in", then sure, perhaps. But that's leaving out the medium-to-long term, which in itself is incredibly messy - not least due to the spectre known as "Cuts". I'm not going to speculate how many characters Smash 6 will have, but even if only 10-20 characters are cut from that game you'll still have veterans' fanbases back on the metaphorical square 1 and pretty much arguing on a similar playing field as characters who have yet to make an appearance. Thing is, it's a long way away and we have no idea of knowing how many characters Smash 6 will start out with, so it won't come up now. But I do worry that things will get incredibly ugly once that happens.

There's also how impactful characters are within the game - particularily impactful characters like :metaknight: can solidify their position as a "Smash character", in turn making it more likely they'll stay. That comes down to implementation etc. - which itself is also a messy area I won't go into.

Personally, I can say that SMT is unpopular in all parts of the world.

Well, except for that one Portuguese twitter account.
The best thing about that twitter account is that I believe the guy that runs is actually spanish, with the whole portuguese thing being a meme.

So CP10 is Lego Luigi?

I can't say I'm mad with such a bold pick.

Aside from being extremely miffed about Crash, there's a couple other things that I feel need correcting.

One, Palutena at E3 defeating the idea of big E3 reveals. This has a bit of misunderstanding surrounding it. Yeah, Palu's the smallest E3 reveal we've gotten, but she was the exception, not the rule. Every other E3 has had a big reveal; Mega Man, Ridley, Banjo, Ryu. In Paluu's E3, the big reveal were the Miis; Lots of customization, splash screens for famed historical figures and celebrities, and a fight between Reggie and Iwata. It's clear the Miis were meant to get a lot of spotlight. We're more than likely getting a big reveal based on past precedent. Doesn't mean all reveals at E3 will be huge, but we're probbaly getting at least one heavy hitter.

Second, fighters must be unique. To be blunt, uniqueness means nothing. Nintendo's making the choices, not Sakurai. While he can say no, that actually supports simpler characters, seeing as he's actually turned down some more complex fighters; Steve because he didn't think he could make it work (Though he would cave eventually), and Rex because it was just too complex for the engine to handle, forcing him to go with Pyra and Mythra with a less complex stance swap system. Honestly, I think anyone trying to push someone as likely/unlikely is just speaking out of their personal likes and dislikes, not actual likeliness.

What makes you say that?
I think it's very plausible that we'll get one more western-oriented character as was the case for past E3's like Ridley and Banjo & Kazooie. While we are at the tail end of Fighter Pass 2, I think Nintendo still has one more big character since this Pass was made to carry out for 2 years instead of 1 year like the first pass. Also while Crash Bandicoot is not as popular in Japan as he was back in the day, he still made an impact over there and has done incredibly well over here in the west so if we're looking forward to a character at E3, a western event no one is more at the top than Crash Bandicoot in my opinion.

Palutena and the Miis were big to me dammit T_T

Base game reveals are different from DLC though. and throughout Ultimate Nintendo has gotten better with character reveal placement and the like.

I don't really think so because this pass appears to be more oriented towards expanding the representation of franchises already in Ultimate, rather than adding in new ones. 3/4 (or 4/5 if Pyra and Mythra are counted separately) FP2 characters so far came from franchises that already had content in Ultimate's base roster in some form. The only new franchise added so far is Minecraft, which has been in the works for 5 years and stalled because Sakurai struggled to figure out how a Minecraft character would work.
