Yeah DJ even told me who he owed, why, and in what order he was going to pay everyone...which was exactly why I decided against including him in all the craziness that happened to Evan, because at least DJ was upfront about his situation/debts and didn't lie or betray his friends just to make himself look better.

oh and as for getting screwed over by Smashers, oh man...Pound 4 has given me so many more stories it's crazy.

You'd think that after trusting a bunch of "strangers" and having them come through with the monies for ROM2 that your actual FRIENDS wouldn't bail on you for Pound 4 when you're doing nothing but busting your *** and wallet to make sure it's nothing but the best experience...

I mean I could go into detail, but I'm not gonna chase down petty crap.

edit: *looks at Twist's post....scrolls up*

=O
damm toasty. you got stories for dayz, huh? lolol kinda sucks that you do, though. didn't know many smashers could be this messed up.

well the thing was, it got to a point where the only people who were able to help him were his New York people...and so G$ and I made sure EVERYONE there knew what was up. And they all had our back.

There was going to be a mass confrontation at RoM but that fell through for a variety of reasons [this was going to be a joint controntation of him and PBnJ]

Then DJ's friends let him know that he was banned from Pound 4 if he couldn't pay everyone back.

DJ's unemployment-checks situation went from promising to terribad mid-December at no specific fault of his own, beyond getting fired, I mean.

Speaking with him on the phone, like I said before, the consensus was that he would pay his debts before trying to go to Pound 4. He claimed he had a wake up call and I saw NO plans posted by him about going to Pound 4 so I was like "alright...at least he knows he can't afford to go...hopefully he's getting a job or something." He even said he wasn't going to any more tourneys until he had **** straightened out.

then at the last second I see this dude is registered and wondered how the hell that happened...

*sigh*
Wow, I didnt know it was this bad. Reason I never put it public was nobodys business and b/c he's ma *****.

Yea that unemployment thing. I told him to not spend money until IT HAS BEEN APPROVED. The way he told me his case, I was leaning towards to nope they're not approving this.

Life is so much easier when "NOT MAKING decisions on superstition and/or chance. "Lend me $50 for this tourney that I could win easily, i'll pay u back after the tourney." --> then doesnt win.

Yea hes mad chill and cool of course, but its more than that at one point. Under normal circumstances, nobody should be trying to change his way of living. (yea irresponsible, disorganized); it's not our business, he lives how he chooses to. However, when his way of living effects others and drags them down with him, we are entitled to invervene and try setting SHlT straight.

PS. Chops is that *****, gotta love that kidd.

Dj owes me a good amount for entering him in tournaments and never getting money back. I'd say to be fair $150

Every time I've had to deal with DJ, he's either offered to help me find a place a stay, a ride to a venue, or money on the side to help get me to ROM2 or just to be able to both go to ROM2 and EAT, which for a while was not looking like an option.

Obviously I don't know the majority of what's going on with him, but I'm just saying that in my personal experiences with DJ he's been generous in terms of money.

I mean obviously things may have gone downhill and obviously anybody who knows DJ knows he's not the most usual normal guy in the Smash community (part of the reason why he's ma dood), but as with Evan I'm not gonna ostracize the dude because of some other-level shit with other people.

Then again, for all I know, the different experiences I've had with them could stem from the fact that I never have any money to loan to people in the first place.

Oh well...I guess we'll just see what happens with this...

oh and for the record, DJ's debt to G$ was for the trip to Florida for Gigabits back in...September?

and don't forget The Great Leon who is owed money for the plane ticket to Pat's House Tourney in Cali.

hooray for false pretenses!

I'm really disappointed that smashers are taking advantage of other smashers. It sucks and its inappropriate.

I don't think public defamation is the way to solve it, though. I understand there's a lot of hurt there, but I don't think (potentially) trashing it is the way to go. Keep this kind of stuff off the forums. Deal with the police if you have to, give him a week or two to reply etc. I feel badly for everyone...

the strange thing about the boards is that when you THINK you've got a situation contained, a person's imaginary reputation somehow empowers them to seek alternatives [see: The Great Leon...and now: Rei]

When it extends beyond people they actually know, public outcry is necessary ONLY to ensure that no one else suffers. For some reason, just posting "don't give ____ money" doesn't seem as effective as you'd imagine it should be.

Sorry guys but I still can't understand how anyone can lend hundreds of dollars to someone they don't know very well over a video game???

That's just asking to get ripped off.

Cool stories bros.

On some real **** though, DJ mentioned something to me about going to a job interview today I think. It's one of those census jobs that pay quite well so I'd give him a week or two. If he gets the job, he should definitely be able to pay people back within the next few months.

I've known DJ for quite a bit now. Don't say who we do or do not know. Also, we think he's cool at first since he gets around to tourneys a lot.
