Problems with doing this is that like first off most of our best players generally have activity problems and stuff. And second off our opinions on our best players vary so far and wide. (just for example, I've heard people put me up there but then other people put me elsewhere). Third off I have no confidence in you all whatsoever.

What matters?

An arranged mafia game. I'd rather talk about this over an instant messaging program. If that is too much of a hassle, I'll elaborate in my next message.

To introduce us, I speak for the Decisive Games section of Smashboards, where we play multiple forum games, including mafia.
Now, seeing as this is the "main" mafia site, the subject of your skill level is brought up every so often, the discussions itself often comparing "your" level to "ours", the atmosphere, playerbase, closeness of the community et cetera.

The proposal we have is a mafia game. We are concerned about just coming over, seeing as, and excuse me if this is offensive, we feel like your average player isn't that great. Your top however, is a different story entirely.

The idea here is that there is a mafia game hosted on either site, with players sent from both sides. Representative players. Say we had a game of 13, that would be 6 one side, 7 other. 18 would be 9 one side, 9 other. Et cetera.
We'd love to have a good, friendly match with you guys and see if both sides could learn from each other and have fun in general, because I definitely think that both sides possess certain qualities that the other side doesn't.

The reason I'm doing it this way is because I know signups and the like is very streamlined here, and just hopping the queue would not give us the game we would prefer.

Definitely not a bad idea. Ill talk with the admins about the right way to progress without stomping on too many toes.

I know ideas like this have been proposed in the past and turned into a hullaballo so ill get a general feel.

We are completely serious about this. No raiding is going to happen whatsoever, and all of our members are pretty psyched at the prospect!

We would not mind hosting the game on this site.

So, things we need to figure out is:
Will this actually happen?
On which of the two sites? (we don't mind either way)
Would you guys be okay with us hosting/modding the game?
What would the size of the game be? Obviously, this would preferably be an even number.
Do you guys mind if we roll with a no-hydra rule?

The size depends on how many top players you guys can send. We can match up any amount, so don't sweat that.

This is not official by any means but my gut is:

It could definitely happen - more as a friendly hello than a who is better match.
Chances are it would be on here. Moderation from your side may require a bit of wrenching but at minimum a setup from there (reviewed by someone here) could definitely be done.
Size is flexible. No hydras is absolutely fine.

We agree. A who is better match is definitely not what we are looking for, we would rather establish a friendly relationship and see what you guys have to offer.

We do not "demand" moderation from our side, but we think it would be fun, and if possible, we'd love to have the honor to mod it on your site.

I'd love to hear an answer to the size, as that is a main point when creating a set up, and it depends entirely on how many players you guys can deliver.
About reviewing, we review our own set ups heavily pre-hosting, so we wouldn't mind looking at it with someone from over here.

For the record, it's probably not going to be Pulp Fiction mafia. It definitely will be something more traditional but I don't want to say it'll be this set-up or that set-up as it'll give an advantage to anyone who knows the set-up or looks it up.

Closed, easier to throw in curveballs. If that's not an option, open. I know a few good opens I can run.

For the record, the game should have an even-numbered roster if possible, so one side doesn't feel outnumbered by the other.

16-man seems optimal from a numbers perspective, to be honest. It's not overly large (like an 18-man) and we're pulling from two separate playerbases so activity shouldn't be a large problem. 14-man is weird to balance than 16-man and I don't want an odd number unless they really mandate it.
