God, that's horrible. The whole thing was poorly executed from beginning to end.

He will probably resign, I think. Depends on if the people in Detroit read newspa- yeah, he won't get fired.

What a terrible event :(

It seems there was a tv programme recording it all for a show. I think it's going to be very difficult for the police to lie their way out of this one. The affected family are not guilty in any way, a child just died and the whole affair was handled extraordinarily poorly.

The father didn't even get to be with his daughter in her last moments.

I'm pretty sure it's standard procedure for the police to film the busts/house arrests they do. Just a couple weeks ago there was a bust where the police shot and killed a caged dog, arrested the guy in there and all they found was a negligible amount of weed. That video leaked if you're really interested in seeing cops should a harmless caged animal for no reason.

Well that's depressing. But I'd like to think there will be real repercussions when we are talking about a 7 year old child that was killed through a series of failures that are apparently on the police's behalf and nobody else's. How cold do you have to be to lie on a matter like this?

Maybe you shouldn't answer that.

I don't know how you accidentally shoot a little girl. But I feel bad for the cop.
I feel bad for the family. I'll feel bad for the cop after I hear him admit it was his mistake.

that was really horrible. Like what virg said, their whole plan was executed poorly from beginning to end.

I often wonder how one can live with himself knowing he took the life of an innocent child.

Man...:(

This is really sad. She didn't deserve that at all... T___T;. I hope the cop atleast gets his badge taken away. Thats a dead little girl... some punishment should be sent.

Fieger said videotape of the incident shows that the shooting was not accidental...

Fieger said officers tossed a smoke bomb -- described by police as a "flash bang device" to distract occupants -- into the house, severely burning Aiyana, who was on the couch in the front room with her grandmother. She was then struck in the neck by a bullet fired from outside the house, he said.
Just horrible..

This is why I lost all trust in the American Justice System a long time ago.

How the hell do you think a 7 year old girl is dangerous. I'm sure that even if they did see a girl and the guy they were chasing was her father or something, I think procedure would call for taking the girl away to child services or something, not killing her

I would't the Detroit Police Department (and Detroit in general) a good example of the American Justice System. We did vote Kwame.

**** that's horrible, I can;t imagine what the family's feeling.

I would've bet the police would have attempted a cover up.

I think the only way to lessen the frequency of these atrocious tragedies is to actually punish the people responsible. Hold them accountable; 8 years for manslaughter should do it.

This extra training and paid leave and transferring BS the cops like to throw out whenever they get out of line is ineffective because it does not provide an incentive for cops to behave like people.

THIS WHOLE THING STINKS! THEIR IS NO WAY A 7 YEAR OLD SHOULD BE SHOT BY THE COPS. IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE. WHAT POSSIBLE REASON COULD THEY HAVE FOR DOING THIS!?

I WANT THIS COP IN JAIL AND I WANT HIM *****! THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED I BET.

First family dogs, then innocent men who just so happened to have a gun next to their bed for self-defense, and now 7-year old kids?

. . .
