I'm just reluctant to purchase, given the shoddiness of the port. My video card is out for repair anyway, so I can't play any games for a few weeks. Figure I'll probably give it a try then and buy it on sale if it's any good.

I feel like the port is overall pretty good. There are a lot of annoyances when it comes to interacting with other players (more dropped connections than on PS3 but for me it runs just fine. Then again I have a pretty decent computer.

I am of course biased because the Souls games are two of my favorite games ever, so it is probably best just to decide for yourself.

Well, I agree that Demons Souls and Dark Souls are amazing games. I've just read about the ports being extremely shoddy. I've also read reviews that share your opinion, that the game is overall pretty good, such that it's easy to see past the port's negatives.

When my video card comes back, I'll give the game a try and buy it if it's good. And I'm really, really hopeful that it's good. I have a PS3 controller setup to work on my PC wirelessly, so controls won't be an issue.

Ok, I finally was able to beat Smough and Ornstein just last week. Had two other players to help me out.

I'm taking it slowly since I have other games to play, lol. I plan on getting the PC version too just because I love the series.

Tiny bit misleading about random stuff but really that trailer is still pretty boss :D

Think I'm gonna go invade people in New Londo Ruins. It's got a pretty high rate of success and there are some good spots for straight up duels. Or douchebaggery.

Still not 100% sure how to deal with Washing Pole with a pure Melee character though :( THAT REACH.

Hm, back when I was playing...my standard build was using the BSS (Baldur Swag Sword) with Dark Moon's enchantment...forgot my what shield was. Also forgot what my armor was, though I personally go for style. I know I had the Dark Woodgrain ring on for ninja flips.

Damn, I don't remember **** outside of how to get through the game lol.

DLC came out on consoles this past Tuesday. I went ahead and bought mine. For anyone who wants to know how to trigger the DLC...

1. Obtain the Lord's Vessel and give it to either Frampt or Kanth
2. Go to the Darkroot's Basin and rescue the lady from her crystal golemn status.
3. Go to Duke's archives. When you take the entrance elevator up, you will notice an odd golemn sticking out. Kill him and you get a "broken pendant".
4. Go back to the Basin, where you rescued the lady and you will see the portal to the DLC.

So far, I will say one of the new enemies are a pain in the butt to fight. Especially when you end up having to deal with two at once along with lesser enemies. They can easily take half your life off with one hit.

Oh, that's great! Will go DL soon.

As for the main story, I'm just getting the souls for the Lordvessel. I only have the 4 Kings one done, and I'm scared to do the other ones, lol.

AND I RAGE AT THE NINJA FLIP RING 'NERF' GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. 25% as opposed to 50% Equip Burden. I can't flip anymore ;_; Ring is kinda useless now.

Dark Souls is easily one of my favorite games. Got platinum on it a while ago but my ps3 can't read discs anymore so it's just been sitting on the shelf.

What is the standard armor you guys wear? For some reason I always fall back on

Gold-hemmed hood and skirt
Ornstein's Armor and gauntlets
Lightning Zweihander
Black Knight Shield

Just something about running around in that and beating the crap out of people. Arguably it's not great in terms of stats, but man is it slick.

Yeah, the patch made it so you can't do back flips if your armor gives you equip burden of >25%.

I roll with more style than productivity.

SL: 71 or 81. I forget.
Paladin's Helmet
Silver Knight Armor
Havel's Gauntlets
Black Iron Leggings
Baldur Swag (Side) Sword
Crest Shield

I'm more of a dexterity/faith build. In PVP, I will use Dark Moon Blade for massive damage. Also have Wrath of Gods, which I know will piss off others if they don't know how to avoid it.

I might have to revamp my armor or equipment, cause I can't do ninja flips anymore.

THANK CHRIST FOR THE NINJA RING NERF. Seriously, if you're wearing heavy armor, you should NOT be able to do cartwheels all over the place.

I'm working on a strength build right now, going to join the Everlasting Dragon covenant and just two-hand axes and clubs. Gonna be sweeet.

Also I'm working on another build that dual wields washing polls just for the respect that comes with dual wielding washing polls.

Iono, I liked flipping in the onion armor for the sake of its outlandish-ness, lol.

But yeah, while it balances it out, I don't like how it makes the ring useless. When your at 25% equip burden it's better to just regular flip. Also, I use full Ornstein armor, so I wasn't that heavy. This was a blow to my usual play, personally.

I'm currently trying to get a 40vit/40dex/40end thing going on, give or take a few points. I use uchigatana ATM.

If you guys are interested in the lore of Dark Souls, this guy has amazing intel. The story that From has put into here has simply blown my mind. I never even thought that there was something as deep as this in a video game.

Some of it is speculation since From likes to be hinty with their stuff, but there are areas of the story that they have confirmed themselves, which are also addressed in the videos to help uncover the whole story. And man, once I watched the video on the story of the recent DLC and how it relates to the main story, I simply wanted to get up out of my seat and clap my hands.

Assuming From Software is that epic enough to think all of that out, heh. But I wouldn't be surprised.

Yeah, I've watched this guy's videos before. Mainly the stuff on Anor (New and Old) Londo. There is definitely great insight, and it makes you appreciate the lore that much more.

Well, I am not one to download DLC often, if any. I have to say that, because I am a Dark Souls veteran, I am a bit disappointed in regards to what you pay for, and what you get.

15 dollars, and the experience lasted 4-5 hours tops. The amount of new items to get was disappointing. I was impressed by the number of spells though. Once again, the lore was good. Outside of that...meh.

That Platinum was really annoying to get. Some of the trophies are just silly. I'm getting all the achievements again in the PC version, and it's... annoying.

Though using a trainer certainly makes it a little easier. :troll:

Been thinking about the comparison of Demon's vs Dark Souls. I felt like the stages for the most part in Demon's were better, and the hub was kinda cool to have. Especially Stockpile Thomas. Dude is too cool.

Demon's Souls: Hub, Boletarian Palace (that guy who always laughed was a cool villain), Valley of Defilement, and the Tower of Latria.

Dark Souls: New and Old Anor Londo, Catacombs, and possibly Blight Town.

I hated Blighttown and Latria with a passion... Valley of Defilement ftw.

And damn the Tomb of the Giants. So dark... I couldn't take it. Almost cried because I would almost dirty my pants for every skeleton dog or black knight hiding in the darkness.

When it comes to areas though, Dark Souls was a total step up, IMO. Demons was too... Clumped up together, I guess. But it wasn't bad by any means.

Still love them both. Total gems.

The only thing I have found annoying is covenants. I don't mind befriending npcs for spells. I don't mind killing Sif three **** times. I do mind wandering the Tomb of the Giants for an hour to realize I need to be in a gravestone for Nito...

Haha, it's the opposite for me. Collecting every item and spell is damn annoying. But joining all the covenants once is not so bad. Granted, collecting all the items is a little easier now that I can just get 99 of everything with a trainer. >_>

Well, I feel bad, but I have kinda used the Dragon Head glitch quite a bit.

A year ago when I was frusturated with the game I used it to max out Stamina/HP. Looking back, I realize it didn't help, as my main cause of death was gravity, not the combat.

I also realized there were several grind points I would've used to get those maxed either way.

I've also used it to get 99 humanity, souls for stuff, etc. The way I've seen it is all the glitch has done is make the grind take less time for me. I can farm babies for humanity/things for souls, or use that to cut the time in 1/10.

Idk why I'm trying to defend myself; I guess deep down I wish I had never done it to max stuff ; ;. The bosses were super easy up till Bed of Chaos (Gravity...) because thats the aspect where I struggle.

I beat the game sans Dragon Head Glitch, but I did wind up using it for laughs on a later run. I got all the way to Four Kings doing a min-level run (I can't remember which starting class I chose), so I generally have no personal qualms about cheating. I don't have any sort of feeling of guilt, as though I cheated my way out of a difficult experience, because I've gone through the game legitimately already.

You don't need to defend yourself. Bed of Chaos was a bull **** boss anyway.

I dunno if it was because I was over leveled, or because the DLC was just not that impressive...but finishing it in 4-5 hours made me go :urg:

What sort of builds/character concepts are you guys using? Right now I'm working on a weapon master character based around changing weapons in the midst of combat and a Str-focused Path of the Dragon build.

I have a miracle/pyro character I haven't used in a while which I role played as a deity of lightning and fire. Called her the Burning Goddess. Pretty cool :smirk:

That's disappointing. :urg: Have you tried that PvP arena yet? I was thinking about buying the DLC just for that. Haven't heard anything about it yet, though.

Bed of Chaos was annoying because jumping in this game isn't really fair. I mean 90% of my deaths come from platforming, lol.

I have not tried the arena yet. I'm more of a "troll" where I invade people in the most problematic areas (Tomb of Giants or Lost Izzy).

With that being said, I roll with a build based on Dex/Faith. Baldur Side Sword+15 and Dark Moon Blade. Also wear Elite Knight Armor. Working on maxing that stuff out.
