Ok now before I say anything, I'd like to make a proposition. I don't know about all of you, but I am so sick of having to type an essay every time I want to specify which "type" of DB hit I am referring to. So I ask that we use the following naming system for each type of DB hit.

SDB= Side Dancing Blade (Red)
UDB= Up Dancing Blade (Blue)
DDB= Down Dancing Blade (Green)

Want to be even more specific and name the exact hit?

SDB1
= Side Dancing Blade 1st hit
SDB2 = Side Dancing Blade 2nd hit
UDB2 = Up Dancing Blade 2nd hit
SDB3 = Side Dancing Blade 3rd hit
UDB3 = Up Dancing Blade 3rd hit
DDB3 = Down Dancing Blade 3rd hit
SDB4 = Side Dancing Blade 4th hit
UDB4 = Up Dancing Blade 4th hit
DDB4 = Down Dancing Blade 4th hit

I'd appreciate it if everyone starting using these terms, even if you don't think anyone else knows what it means, just say it. And if they ask explain, that's how it can spread after all.

Thanks, I sure hope this works.

Nice

Btw Bengals, I know the answer should be obvious, but why don't you post on gamefaqs anymore?
Haha, obvious it is. And I'm not sure if you are still posting there, but I highly recommend you don't; that is if you are looking for any serious discussion. The moron:intelligent user ratio there has to be around 15:1, and I really can't put up with it anymore.

Stick around the Marth boards or just SWF in general, it's much better ^_^

And thanks ZMT, use it when you can.

Yeah, I do still post there........sometimes. I didn't think it was possible, but they have actually gotten worse. Now every topic there is either random anime girls, lame fads, or crappy tier list attempts.....

I still post on IGN even though the moron to idiot to somewhat decent user is 100:10:1 but let me put it this way:
I post a video there, it gets 500+ views.

Lol, lets just say the only place to really find intelligent discussion is here and maybe AiB.

Now back to the topic, start using my abbreviations mmk?

That could work for a whole chain, but I'm talking about specifying an individual hit.

You can still point out an individual hit by doing like "DB>" or "DB>^"

Easier to remember than SDB3, imo. In the end people are gonna use what they want, I was just curious. : )

Well then you would have to specify the number, in which case you would have the same amount of characters. It really does come down to preference, but I'm trying to standardize this, and SDB3 looks a bit cleaner then DB>3, IMO.

This is still very helpful though, don't let anybody give you sh*t about it, an effort to help is a great one.

I think you got me wrong.

That "DB>3" in your format would be "SDB3" if I'm not mistaken, where as my idea was just "DB>>>".

I think the thing is I'm looking at defining the whole chain before the hit you're talking about and you're looking at the solitary hit.

Yes indeed, easy to understand system.
And even though most people have their own notation, i also agree with the fact that it's best to generalize the way we refer to Dancing Blades parts.

IMHO, I think the original OP's naming system is better.

Especially since arrows look kinda ugly, UDB4 or SDB1, or DDB3 look official and reek of legitimacy.

Also because you don't have to string and makes it convenient for everyone (the point of implementing this).

Why do DB>>V when you can just say DDB3? While the former is easier to use for specific strokes, rarely will specific stroke commands really be used out of "mindgames" (which is dependent on the user).

In which case one can just say: SDB1, UDB2, DDB3, SDB4. Not convenient, but as I said, rarely will we ever really discuss specific strokes.

Instead of reading it SDB1, etc, you can just look at the first letter, and the ending number.
Like so- S1, U2, D3, S4, just for convenience, or an even shorter lingo.

But anyway, nice idea.

Prob. is, D3 is already shorthand nomenclature for Dedede. We can run into similar problems in other names.

Well what was already said, SDB3 for the specific hit, and maybe using DB S1, S2, D3, D4 for a specific chain...
