I might be there, but I'll be focused on BB/SF4

I can be convinced to play some Melee, although I haven't played in months.

I dunno, I still can't really motivate myself to hold a smashfest. I always just wanna play with like 1-3 other people for a few hours and then call it a night.
If you hosted a "game fest" as opposed to a smashfest it might work out. I'd be all over that **** for melee, smash 64, other fighting games, old school games (virtual console?), DS games, board games (Settlers anyone), etc.

I replied to this earlier but forum got weird. When do people usually come down to play?

So Ryann[gf] wants me to get into MTG. What are some cool deck types that are fun to play?

I wanted to do Eldrazi so I could win 90% of the time, but then she told me she wouldn't play me ever because they're not fun.

Then I wanted to do Slivers so I could just be a little *****, but then she told me she wouldn't play me ever etcetc.

So then I decided I'd ask the CTThread! Since some of you are bound to play MTG...

Blue/White decks are fun if you like controlling the field while adding survivability (its what I play most, and most people absolutely HATE playing against this because you counter their **** and gain life)

Straight Red is incredibly fun, but (imo) not goblins (biased). I'd use more Burn and Enchantments personally.

I would play a bunch of different kinds of decks and pick whatever you like best, kinda like a fighting game, really. Trevor can probably build you a deck for cheap if you ask him real nice, though I know you'd rather not sink money into it.

Also, I've been less concerned with actually PLAYING MTG lately as I have been with making foil proxies for people since apparently nobody has the time, effort or creativity to make their own.

Whatever, I'm gonna start charging for them. Ink and transparencies are expensive.

Well, after YGO I'm kinda done with the whole card game thing. I'm just going to make a deck for MTG since everyone and their mother seems to play this game.

And I was really feelin' a Vampire deck, they're all pretty cool, imo.

As far as formats go, I have no idea what format I'd be playing. Probably the one that lets you use the most cards...or something? Vintage? Legacy?
**** if I know.

If that's the case, prepare to lose horribly. Vintage Magic... it's like starting Melee not knowing what an L-cancel is, and slowly working your way up to tourney ready status. It takes years of losing and experience knowing the game's ins and outs, before you can play it properly. And by years of experience, I mean money. Like, buttloads of money, in order to obtain the proper cards to win.

>_> Yo, I'm not playing in tournament or anything. No biggie. I'll play standard or w/e then. I dunno. I'm probably going to look up a deck list that looks good enough once I decide on something and headhunt for the cards.

What does this mean.

Unless you meant Sliver. Then I might do it because I can build a pretty good deck for like, $25. Lol slivers.

Also, 2011 has a Vampire Intropack! **** yeahhh! I'll have to purge it of its useless green cards though.

Went to brawl stream and found

DAZWA BEATING JAPANESE

****, ****s super close. Dazwa's ZSS is entertaining. He's losing right now to Rain.

Brook: I only play online. I suck. I don't have YVD right now, I'm playing on DMG. I suck. Maybe two years from now I'll actually play IRL.

Good try Dazwa. <3 2-1 Rain.
Thanks bro. I can't believe I beat his Falco as ZSS (it's SOOOO bad), but I definitely need more MK experience. Luckily there seems to be an MK surge happening in New England so I might get just that :)

Yeah! It's not exactly the best thing for our region when the best character in the game is underplayed. We get tons of Snake practice at least, but that won't cut it, I'm afraid.

何?
Dylan I miss you already.

Apex was pretty awesome apart from the tourney being shoddily run, and Chibo being put in charge of seeding pools.

Yeah your girlfriend's name is pro.

Cog what sets were you around for? I think I played from like 97-02 or something like that. I played in college too, but I didn't buy any new cards.

Mogwai is really good at MTG.

Yeah, my team went 2 and out in doubles, which was fine, but we played Magus / Tec0 and DoYoung / Spammerer. Like I didn't go to Apex to play people from this region.

Also, the TO's at Apex need to learn some microphone etiquette. They were loud, annoying, and obnoxious. Just because you have a mic doesn't mean you should say HI to people over the loud speaker. We can all hear you, you don't have to repeat yourself 32940487 times.

Blame people for squandering in r1 of pools
Yeah man, completely my fault that I got stuck in a pool with my crewmate  I could understand brackets, it looked like you guys had to deal with all sorts of crazy stuff to balance things out, but a pool with that Juice? Maybe next time, champ.

Welp, there goes all drive to pick up Brawl again.

I feel like I've talked about this in this thread before, but... I started right around The Dark/Fallen Empires/Revised. I ended up with a fair amount of Unlimited core cards and some Beta sprinkled in. Buying Unlimited dual lands for $8 at the local card shop. I stopped in the middle of the Urza's block. My step brother spent thousands and went to tournies and though I read up on good decks and was good I never was that tourney-serious about it. My cards have appreciated in value a lot but I've resisted selling them just because of the nostalgia factor.
I'm sure if I tried to play now there would be a billion new rules that I don't understand.

I stopped buying cards 2 blocks after Urzas. I was really into it though. I even read one or two of the books. My cards would appreciate in value if I kept them in good condition :/.

Eh, its still a pretty simple game. I've taught my 10 year old brother how to play, though he still has trouble with some things.
I'd just have to read every single card and not know what to target/which cards combine well with others. I'm still stuck on "Trample"...now there's probably Phasing, Shifting, Fisting, Unicorn-****ing, Twirling, Mouth-******, etc

Mine have been in sleeves in a box for 10 years......... anyone want to buy some old MTG cards??
