wow i quit once after having enough of the only thing you doing is side bing and cg'ing in a wifi match. Get a better attitude man. Not sure where the "rage" your perceiving is coming from.
DDD is your worse matchup, you shouldn't be d/cing it. I was offering great practice and you're crazy if you don't think that'll happen to you in a real life tournament, except worse.
I don't need the practice that much. I was only playing for fun not to deal with a ddd spam. Why would i keep playing in a FRIENDLY if im not having fun. I'm also completely aware that ppl spam to win IRL tournies.
if u want, u can play me in person but it would have to be at ur house unless u wanna drag ur wii since i don't have one anymore. btw how old are u?
all DFO players please add me: yangfushang
oh yeah and about the brawl rankings, i appreciate everyone that said i should be higher, but my opinion is that our brawl scene is so random, and that i think Dave and Tim are def top 2 and everyone is just like bleh
yeah i always bring my controller as should u whenever u attend future tournaments/ smash fests. Also i'll be home around 6 ish pm tommorow and then free friday-monday so its up to u when u want to play
yeah i actually live in highlands ranch, like 1 min from the safeway on broadway/ highlands ranch pkwy.
also jvcd, we should team since we beat that team from new mexico at supercon lol. They were like "are u guys a team"? or wait unless ur teaming with meno
well i'll team with you dtl if u still need a teammate

Yeah, I'll actually be at that ranbat, so I suppose I can give people rides if my car ain't full and such and such.
Completely off topic: People who like reading, if you read a series of books, do you prefer the series start with the main character's childhood, or do you like it getting the backstory over time in flashbacks?
From a literary standpoint, flashbacks are kinda frowned upon. They cheapen the story, or something. I can't remember exactly why. I'm assuming you're asking cuz u is teh writing againzzz.
For me, unless the backstory is absolutely essential, I don't even worry about it. All the biggest problems in the protaganist's life are normally defined pretty quickly, and the ones that haunt him can usually come to surface when someone uses it against them. A bit cliched, though. PM me if you wanna discuss it in more detail, I normally help Lyn with this kinda stuff.
Alright guys. I suck supah hardcore at melee as you all know. So I decided I'm maining Sheik until I don't suck. Theeeeeeeeeeeen I will switch back to somebody harder to learn.
Smart man. I'll help you with Sheik, then. Learn to CG, WD, needle cancel, needle reverse, and DD. Maybe needle reverse waveland, too, but that's just me being flashy.
Aaaaaaand, just out of whim, if anyone would open their doors for a fest / tourney this weekend, I'd try really hard to go (no game for me this week because of the fight I got in blahblahblah).

ragequitting refers to any kind of disconnect in the middle of a match. You don't have to be "rage"d to ragequit. It's typically considered to be very rude, so if getting infinited is that big a deal, I'd suggest getting on AIM/MSN/Skype with the player so you can ask them to ease up.
Buuuuuuuut, you shouldn't take "friendlies" to mean that people won't play their best/gayest. Friendlies are for practicing anything, not necessarily just for "fun". You should always play for fun. If a game isn't fun to you competitively, just play casually. That's what I normally do with Brawl.
Anyone else up for smash today? Tony and I have both expressed interest so far. It'll probably happen at my place unless someone else wants to host.
Tim - I have only one remark regarding your question. If you watch Star Wars Episodes 1-3 before watching Episodes 4-6, when Vader tells Luke "I am your father", while it still bears the same weight upon Luke's character, for the person watching the movie the weight of that scene barely even exists. On the other hand, if you watch 4-6 first you get an OMGWTF Vader is t3h FAJAH! response XD. So sometimes knowing too much about a character's background is a bad thing. Now that being said there are also no flashbacks in Star Wars either. Instead backgrounds are told exactly how they are told in real life, through one character telling a story to another character and through remarks made in passing between old friends/enemies that reveal some not yet fully known history between the two characters. That is all. "GOOD LUCK"
Hey Tony, since you are sort of a guru on teaching people to play melee better, do you have any tips of how to teach someone to play competitive melee better? Would you say it is most important to nail technicals first and then learn the application and mindgames, or integrate both at the same time. There are a few people at my school who really want to learn how to play well, but I'm wondering if I'm going about the best way of training potential smashers. Like with piano, generally it is better to learn how to play all of the notes before going heavily into interpretation, but perhaps it would be better to learn the technicals integrated with mindgames? Also, how do you think I should play against these potential smashers, because if I try and 3/4 stock them, not only is it discouraging and frustrating, but I also feel that they don't gain too much from being combo'd across the stage. Any tips are greatly appreciated.
I'm also learning how to play as fox and marth (and partially sheik) now so I can actually have backup for my peach in tournament. The MN tournament I went to so far I only lost to two very technical fox players (one was a falco player who went fox), who I probably could have beaten if I played a character with better movement options. Just thought I'd give an update lol
Okay, so I'm going to repost this whim on like every page.
If I were to run a Brawl singles event, who would be willing to bring a TV / setup? (Tim's the only volunteer so far)
And, yeah, I run relatively fast, Tony. Not a burner like the black kids on my team (it's fact, black guys are fast), but not slow at all. What sucks about this season is that I've missed about a month of the season due to my sprained ankle and my "altercation". Iunno why I'm saying that, just venting a bit.
Also, the more people talk about Melee, the more I want to play. Ironically, I like using every top / high tier character BESIDES Sheik.
Notice: BRAWL WILL BE AT ALL FUTURE EFL EVENTS STARTING ON JANUARY 30TH AS A SIDE EVENT.
Here's the official lowdown. I asked Halfro if he's cool with Brawl being at EFL. He is. Here are the conditions he laid down.
Halfro said:
I don't mind if you/brawl community leaders did come and run a side tournament just a few things:
- It wouldn't be advertised by us because we aren't running it. I've touched a little on it before but, this way we aren't responsible for something we can't be positive is going to happen. We don't like selling a tournament we don't directly have control over.
- You/Director are resposible for all equipment (you already said that you would have it all anyways).
- You HAVE to be done with your tournament when we are done with the tournament (aka if we start at 12pm and are done at 5pm, you also need to be done at 5pm).
- And if a player in the side tournament is playing in one of the main tournaments and is called for both, main tournament takes precedence.
Assuming we all have the resolve to follow these simple rules, then we just got 6 more tournies for 2010. Here just some random rules that need to be followed:
Anyone who promises to bring a set up, HAS TO BRING A SET UP. Also be specific on whether you're bringing a set up (TV + Wii), just a TV, or just a Wii. That's very important to know. It'd be devastating if I had to run the whole tourney off of one TV when I was promised at least 3 by the guys that offered. It would be even worse if I had an extra TV, but no Wii to plug into it.
Know your priorities. Assuming I'm going to run these events, then there can be no bad mojo between me (+ the community) and the EFL guys. If you have a BB match and a Brawl match called at the same time, tell me first, then go do your BB match. Halfro made that pretty clear.
BE PUNCTUAL. I'll probably start at 12:00 noon (perhaps earlier, although I doubt it), and when I say things start at 12, they start at 12. Signups are over at 12, bracket is made at 12, no more entrants after 12. Simply put, don't be late. We have 5 hours to run the tourney, I don't want to sacrafice one because Dave felt like sleeping in. I'm always at tourney at, like, 9 or 10.
For crying out loud, actually show up. Why is this a rule? You know the tourney is on January 30th, that's a hell of a long time for now. Don't make plans for that day if you don't have to. You have 3 1/2 months to find a ride. You have 3 1/2 months to practice. No johns.
Keep TVs clear of anything other than Brawl matches that I've called. Don't pop in Melee, don't friendly, don't money match. I'mma be watching the TVs all the time, and really I have no problem DQing people once I have their money in the pot.
Ooh, actually, that's another thing. What should the entry fee be? There's 3 main options:
1. 5 dollars (the "high stakes" of sorts. Really makes the tourney about the pot.
2. 1 dollar (there's a prize if you win, but it's mostly a chillax tourney.)
3. free (it's simply an exhibition for people to have fun)
95% sure that there will only be time for singles. Thoughts on this whole thing?
I'm taking this super serious because it's the first non-Cutthroat tourney we've had in a while :X And yeah, looks like I'll be running it, probably with the help of Tony if he wants to lend a hand.
Assuming we start with their first tourneys, we'll have more than 5 hours to finish UL. He was just using those times as an example. EFL stuff has been all day events in the past.
Also, $5 buy in at least. People are gonna have to pay venue fee, might as well make it so they can make money back. And we should discuss if we want the tournies to be tripping free or not. I vote yay.
