it's true though.. there is no way to schedule around biweeklies.
As long as purdue hosts them that often there's no incentive for their players to go out of their little happy-town
Which is fine, if people there are comfortable playing people there, it can just be an enclave of smashers, which is what bigD was considering, basically apart from the rest of the midwest.

It's not a big deal anyways. If tink and kels are willing to travel to them, then there's still a way to compare skill levels, so they can get ranked anyways

yeah no offense, but the criteria for qualification are so vague that i can't really put much stock in these rankings. personally i have beaten people that are on this list, and lost to people that aren't on this list, but i'll leave my opinions at that so i don't offend anybody lol.

completely non-offensive wisconsin PR:

1. spikes/quaz/john/vino/sanchaz/exarch/mundungu/other people i may have forgot
2. everyone else, but you'll move up someday, i know you can do it!

also we can have spikes cuz you stole people from purdue's PR and they aren't complaining about it

Kirk, why do you want off? This aint purdue rankings, you don't gotta do ****.
I don't plan to attend many tournaments for a while. I don't engage myself half the time when I'm playing. I don't need someone tallying up my wins and losses at tournaments I played in when I hadn't touched a controller in a month. I don't think a list is necessary for people to know how good or bad I am.

(Note: I'm not saying that I should or shouldn't be on the list where I am. I actually only have a few minor disputes on the list's integrity, but since I don't care about the list anyway, there is no reason to discuss this.)

If you're not going to be attending many tournaments for a while, you will be removed when you are inactive. People are going to tally your wins and losses even if this list didnt happen. If you don't care about what people think, isn't it fine for things to remain as they are?

man a whole lot of posts happened when i was asleep/not on the boards, im not gonna argue too much because im pretty sure all the purdue players will come up as inactive on the next list anyway seeing as they stayed at purdue instead of going to regionals which counted, and thats what i think should happen. if the ssbo's on the same days as the last smashing grounds and sweet4 count, it will be only because chicago's past patronage of ssbo's made them count, but i'm pretty sure they wont have 6 ranked participant points or whatever you want to call them.

little england, you seriously want everyone in the whole mw to choose from half of the available weekends over the course of a whole school semester just because you guys have biweeklies in your dorms? somebody planning a tournament they want to be big months in advance should stop and say "whoa hold on, is purdue planning on having a smashfest among themselves that day? we should push ours back a week so kels can go make $60 instead of little england making $40." not to mention i'm pretty sure hdr was scheduled way before the beginning of the semester anyway

you came in here with your big inspirational post, you should be a little more interested in getting your crew out of town to some regionals instead of making excuses for their separatist behavior. looks like youre making some of your own mw geography johns, welcome to the club

but again, all of this is irrelevant, as purdue has all been inactive while chicago players have gone to better tournaments instead; a few of you came to chicago on 10/16 and a few chicago went to purdue on 11/6, im not sure how far back the next rankings will look but i'd imagine not much further back than that, this one looked back only 2 months from when it was intended to come out. and little england, i do know what goes into making power rankings, i have been to tournaments with these players while they talked about it, and i do know that a lot of people didnt send their vote in until after 11/20, which is 3 days short of a month after the last tournament considered.

so as time goes on, more tournaments will be included on these power rankings due to a wider geographical base as good players from more different players qualify. its gonna be really hard to rank people once it spreads to chexr and all the way down to deku

The reason I didn't include more recent tournaments on the first page is because while we had waited to try and get some results, inactivity amongst the panelists peaked (probably due to school) and while votes came in later, almost nobody made a list that took new results into account. I'm really not sure where the line was drawn so I only listed tournaments I know were considered.

For all intensive purposes, the "tournaments considered" is incomplete or inaccurate.

well regardless, the votes didnt come in until almost a month after they were requested

i'm sure some people couldn't help but include tournaments since then, as evidenced by the fact that i'm even on it while i lived in ohio until november 4th

Well, I'm actually 100% sure RoW was included. We had originally waited for that tournament for additional results

ok i actually went back and read some posts beyond LE's first response, and yes, there is a such thing as traveling to chicagoland, lafayette isnt in it, but anyway

yes sometimes players come to you once a month, but then they also go to other tournaments in between. if the roles were reversed, and you guys were coming to chicago once a month AND were going all over the place in between those tournaments and chicago players werent going anywhere, then 1) a lot of purdue players would be a lot better 2) the power rankings would probably be based around purdue with maybe a few chicago players that frequently attend on it

aka, the exact opposite situation from now; a chicago based power ranking with purdue players on it due solely to the patronage of purdue tournaments by chicago/peoria

I don't think hate needs to come to people who don't travel. We all have different commitments to things other than the game. Purdue is a really good school, and school always comes before smash.

This list is supposed to be a list of the "best" players that attend similar tournaments, not a list of who travels the most (in which case Dart would be #1)

its no hate, its tough love

i want them to come out to tournaments, if i didnt like them i'd be all for them staying in purdue and having nothing to do with me

hey and just cause im a ****, i did some looking around, and found that ssbo xlix only had 13 entrants, i guess you unanimously accepted it, but i cannot for the life of me figure out what/when ssbo xlv was. this post http://www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=11175627&postcount=15215 makes it look like they skipped it, and xlvi only had 11 local purdue guys, didnt even have LE or kirkq, so i dont think you were counting that one instead, what is ssbo xlv? both LE and kirkq will still be considered active without it anyway, so its no harm, im just wondering
