i was gonna come and post this but seems like u got this TKD. Good job man

TKDs first set with Tyrant he beat Tyrant with Fox all the time, but on Tyrants CPs he lost (TKD went MK on them).
Although in GFs he lost one match with Fox so he had to win one MK ditto so it doesn't go to the 2nd set... which TKD did. He won the final (5th) game with MK.

Not sure if it should count since other than that match he probably only won with Fox (don't know for sure though), but he needed that last MK win or it would've gone to the 2nd set... hmm.

Switching to a character and that won him the tourney where he could lose without switching... Should be counted.

I think it should count. Finals are where it counts the most. Big differences from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd. If a certain character helped you secure that 1st place, it should definitely count imo.

This. If you used the character in the finals, and won any fights with that character, without a doubt they should be counted.

If you selected a character with the intention of actually increasing your chances of winning then I'd count it. If you selected a character because you knew you'd win anyway then I wouldn't count it. Same applies for picking a character because you knew you'd lose anyway.
