It's weird you used the name UN Owen, because I worked on a project called AMV Blitz with a guy called that, but he's terrible at the game lol
No offense to anyone who played in this but those tournament rules are super scrub. The ruleset practically banned Falco from being played by removing his main means of winning entirely. Amazing.

Well, it didn't change a thing. I complained, but it was "for the 2.5 people who had never gone to a tourney before", 2 of those people got in the top 8 LOL. It was explicitly an ANTI SHAYA rule, and anti-shaya rules are a-okay by everyone. Especially me. Plus no one there mained Falco, seriously, he did it to piss me off.
I'll add that tournament when I get the chance, djbrowny. I'm not sure how I missed it.
Banning the CG > spike is super skanky. It's only a guaranteed death on like a few characters.
In fact, the spike can be tech'd now, so there is no reason to ban it. It's a 0-death no longer.

Of course Sonic would move down from 10th place, but Espy's placing fortunately kept him high at 15th. And djBrowny's are still missing, so thats all cool.
Olimar, Pikachu, and Peach mains need to step it up! =P No, I'm kidding, but those are characters that should be above Sonic in placings I would think. Ness and PT finally moved up like they should have, lawl.

So what's the rationale for weighting by entry fee? It seems really arbitrary, yes larger tournaments will have larger entry fees, but it's still something that will vary by tournament for reasons completely unrelated to character rankings.
It would seem like weighting by number of entrants would be sufficient to account for tournament size...
in fact, using entry fee would make the curve resemble n^2 where it should be something like log(n) base 2...

Because Link probably got the Top 8 in a larger tournament. If Link places well in a 100-man tournament, and Lucas places well in two 20-man tournaments, Link gets a higher point count overall.
READ THE FORMULA. This is really getting old
I move that we ignore any future posts of this variety.
EDIT: And entree fee is relevant because it deters worse players from entering. Bad players aren't going to shell out $25 for an event they have no chance of winning. Thus, higher entry fee = higher quality players = more weight.

I'm under the belief that, since entry fee = larger pot, it is a good way to gauge the relative importance of a tournament, as there is much more at stake (in fact, twice as much in a $10 entry tournament compared to a $5 entry).
