I'm not quitting Bowser, lol. All I said was that I'm not going to be a solo main anymore. The biggest reason I've been going solo Bowser in singles for the past several tourneys was to get a better understanding of his limitations, and I believe that I have enough data in my head now.
Bowser can't get the job done on his own, no matter how good I am with him. MUs like D3, ICs, MK, Wario, and a few others are completely out of his reach to win against good players. Over half the cast is still reasonably beatable, though, so he's not a complete lost cause. He just needs some minions to handle the dirty jobs for him.
I know that on Facebook I gave signs that I was going to drop him, but I ultimately couldn't go through with it. I like him too much, I'm competent with him, and I've already invested a lot of time into him. He's a permanent weapon in my arsenal, but he should no longer be the only one. From now on, I'll be less hesitant to bust out the other guns.
People use more than one character all the time, so why can't I? Sure, I once brought up the idea of "being a pure main," but I eventually concluded that such a concept was too idealistic and stubborn in my situation. Bowser is not solo main material, and he never will be. The time has come to be more realistic, without giving up on King Koopa.
Overall, I'm choosing the path I once dismissed as "wishy-washy," because now I realize that this path is the only one that will truly satisfy me. Things like playing Bowser's worst MUs or dropping Bowser for the sake of maximizing my victory chances aren't satisfying to me, so I refuse to do either of them.
Rest assured, my Bowser will continue to stomp into tournaments and take truckloads of damage. The only difference will be that you will only be graced with his presence if the MU is what I'd call a fair fight. Otherwise, you'll face the Royal Guard.
