Yeah, kinda needs a code if you want it to be actually taken seriously.

Dear god it has been a hell of a week
Exciting, no? ;)

Anyway, I used this code today, pretty fun. It's LOL when Link's Dair can be canceled completely, kinda reminds me of Smash 64... ahh... what fun this code will be in friendlies!

That's because that's how Smash 64 worked...

Let's turn this into Super Smash Bros : Brawl 64. Just need to add 2 seconds of hitstun to everyone's attacks.

hehehe.

Been screwing around with this today. Pretty awesome although hopefully someone will make a true L cancel code.

Also, how did they get Hidden Village music on Halberd? A music hack code? I'd put Bramble Blast on every level if I had that.

This may be the best you'll get for an L-Cancel code. Phantom Wings said he was done hacking Melee stuff into Brawl. Although, that doesn't mean he isn't going to do hitstun.

lmfao fox doesn't need to be better

is it possible for you to boost Link's recovery by a bit? :p
better up+b and tether plz

what do you mean true l-cancel? like how this removes all lag completely?
i think it suits brawl better because brawl's shield and defence game is broken. it's only fair to make it's offense more broken to go for more balance

Is there any way to make it that the shield can be done halfway through the frames instead? Such as adding IASA frames to all aerials?

I mean that this isn't a true l-cancel in relation to Melee and 64. An L cancel halves the time of the landing animation, this instantly cancels that into a shield.

Even if this is the best we're going to get, it's still pretty great. Just need some shieldstun and hitstun.

No Internet?!?
So I can wavedash pretty fast with Ganon into his forward tilt with no lag, and cancel all the lag on his aerials instantly?

Neat. If only Brawl was made this way in the first place.

Just adding more hitstun won't do much at all when the game would still allow you to cancel any amount of stun you may have had with an attack or airdodge at the same fixed point everytime shortly after getting hit anyway. That option would need to be removed first.

Actually, L-canceling in smash64 removed ALL lag completely.
For Melee, it was just half.
Right, but you get my point. I just want it to not cancel into a shield for smoother movement is all. I'm still pretty happy with this.

The reason people can airdodge or attack right out of an attack or throw is because of the lack of hitstun.

No, it's not. On attacks that put you into a tumble there is a fixed period of time after you are hit that the game will then let you dodge or use an A attack even though you were still in hitstun. It's the same amount of time whether you were completely blasted off the stage or it was just a moderately powerful hit, and is separate from hitstun. It's why you can dodge/attack before you even leave the stage on a KOing hit. If the stun actually ended at that point then you would also be able to jump or use a B move immediately as well before leaving the stage.

this is great. That was the most lively brawl match I have ever seen. *goes to install the homebrew channel*

How could removing all lag on L-cancel make the game better? Doesn't that just make aerial approaches broken?

64 was too insane in this respect.

Though I do enjoy Brawl as is, it is quite amazing how the community is managing to make it their game.
Are there any side effects to hacking like this, and how easy is it to use codes and to turn them on and off?

Atleast in Brawl the shield system pretty much balance it.
