Newly added rule for melee at CW monthlies:

"Bracket Manipulation is banned. Any offense that pertains to players modifying the outcome of a bracket based on factors such as (but not limited to) Prize Splitting, Intentional Forfeiting, Intentional Under-performance, and Outside Deals. This category may bring additional punishment immediately at the tournament by the Tournament Organizer such as being disqualified from the event or having your winnings forfeited to other placing players at the event."

Prize Splitting
what's wrong with prize splitting?

Intentional Under-performance
ah, the meat of the post

to give some context, this thread comes after an irc discussion in which redact stated that
this rule (TO can dq people completely if TO thinks they sandbagged in their loss) is what the community wants (hmm don't remember discussing this before)

it's very very silly because
[23:43] <+raindream> you don't know if he's been practacing it in secret and is busting it out now but things did not go as expected
[23:44] <+raindream> the fact that you know some people better then others is an outside factor you are allowing to affect a decision, which cannot possibly be consistent and universally applied.
[23:45] <+raindream> what happens when it's 2 unknowns. You are now making unfair decisions because you know one person better then the other 2
sam puts it better than i ever could

[23:28] <+dekar> the only person who can accurately judge whether or not someone is intentionally under performing is the player themself

piss-weak trying to brush this off and pass the blame onto others by saying "it's what the community wants", redact. that's crap and you know it, you made the decision. hehehe decider

Actually it wasn't his idea intially, I know i've approached Redact saying the same thing. A coin match with young link isn't intentional under-performence? Give me a break, I've heard atticus, redact and toshi saying how your intentional loses have ****ed them up.

i never said it was redact's idea
do you agree with the implementation of the rule?

oh, and furthermore, the idea that "if the community wants it it's in" is terrible
redact has stated that if the community voted to make hyrule a permanent neutral then it would be so
this is terrible! mob rule should not be favoured over logic!!

pretty sure it is the mob rule that is the main reason we abolished wobbling.

However, fortunately for Dekar, this topic is even more ambiguous and therefore i really dont understand this rule. It's very hard to tell whats up. What if someone is practicing a new main and ****s up? My constant under-performing in tournies could be intentional, not just me ****ing up. So many things to consider... it'd be nice if Dekar stopped bracket ****** Earl though; by staying in winners.

It's a weird one.

actually the wobbling rule is entirely up to the tournament organiser and whether or not they want to implement it. There is no set rule set per se simply a copy paste formula the majority of you zombie-sheep smashers seem to worship as a god send.

As for this ruling unless someone specifically states they are not trying and lose to someone they should beat aka mew2king losing to blade, this rule will more than likely never be enforced and forgotten as soon as its on page 2.

this will probably be one of those rules that if its put in, will never actually be used.

I bothered to read sykes post after I posted, lol

I can understand the motivation for this rule since all the stuff it's trying to ban is pretty disrespectful behaviour and detrimental to tournament quality, but it's not reasonably enforceable. Players can just sandbag but claim they weren't playing well. Deals and splits can be done in private.

That said, I encourage Dekar to stop being a sandbagging ****

taks idea is seriously better.

Single Elim Dekar
Double Elim everyone else.

Dekar probably still displeased

I lol so hard at how many people have gotten ****ed up for splitting, why dont you just leave the tourney and then one of you gives the cash to the other, at that point its your money and you can do whatever the **** you want with it.

i think the bad thing this thread implies is that this is some sort of issue that needs to be fixed with a rule

depends rly

look back to robocop, I lost purposely to redact so I wouldn't have to play m2k and get stuck on the vic side of losers. Instead I played unny, toshi, turtle, zxv and sam before losing to dave. If I beat redact and then lost to m2k I would have played ryan, then dekar, then dave meaning I could have placed low as 7th instead of cruising to 4th and getting prize money.

that's taking advantage of the limitations of the double elimination format (also poor regional seeding?)
either we switch to a different format (ha!) or people just suck it up

The downside about what Syke did is that he lost to Redact. Is the shame worth the money? That's gonna vary person to person.

I don't see how this is a bad thing.

Sandbagging is a legitimate tactic
DEAL WITH IT

the fact that i've lost to rob before is sort of why i refrain from melee discussion

i still have a 100% win rate against his fox though

I lost more than 2 stocks to Rob in one match before.

I showered five times that day.
