some character's double jumps need to be fixed after the change in gravity and stuff. one so far that needs changing is ike. its very hard to jump off stage attack, and survive even with double jump and upB.

make sonics dash dance a tad longer if possible.

edit: the no sweetspot needs to be tweaked a lil i think. iv had fox sweetspot it no prob when he was not supposed to when using his upB

Friction won't be necessary until we go into using the momentum code.

I'm completely neutral on jump speed. I never saw it as necessary.

@chibo: that's either because the set you were using didn't actually have the code on (there was a release without it) or because fox managed to not gain any vertical height across two frames, which is how the code prevents AS. And we don't need to make any DDs longer >_>

Shanus, I can do that. Give me the values. I do not have the grab release data. PM Alopex for it.

Also, Giza just gave me this:
1F000113 3FC00000

Faster Razor Leaf for Ivysaur (less windown) helps give him more options on the stage.

I can run some tests on this and if it seems right maybe we can add it in? (Needs testing from more people too).

What about universal ALR to 40% instead of 50%?

Code:

Thats the updated code with Razor Leaf if anyone wants to test it.

I think keep it to 50% for everyone. I don't have time to do stuff tonight for it, but we could chat later tomorrow about it. I'll ask Alopex for it tomorrow or if you want to PM him for it, go for it.

Gonna test this stuff out. Thinking maybe giving Pika a bit more winddown lag when he hits himself with down and B (10%). Think thats needed anyone? I dont fight Pika much.

From what I have seen:

.95 SH with Kirby is good, helps him, changes nothing negatively. His approach game will be improved by this.

Samus missile code is excellent she can do the following:
Double Smash Missile FH
Double Homing Missile FH
SH Homing or Smash into landing uair, nair, fair, bair, or zair

It really helps out her approach game and doesnt seem too good for now. Her killing power and combo game is good and this really helps her with approach and grab and smash setups.

Ivysaur forward B boost is excellent. He can sh to landing fair, bair, or nair.
His forward B to grab is basically legit.
It kind of feels like Melee Falco SH laser approach.

These may be the buffs we need for these two chars.

I urge more people to try them out.

Edit: It seems Giza can fix the landing lag from Boozer and DK up and Bs. Do we want to fix this, and if so how much do we want to speed it up by?

He can also speed up Samus's rolls if we think she needs it.
(I also have the code for Mario d tilt speed up a bit, but I dont really think we need to apply it)

I think 40% ARL would be a great addition. It actually looks more like an l cancel than what we have now without really breaking anything.

I support jump speed because it makes jumps stronger (someone said they wanted this) and it helps with the flow and keeping up with comboing. Several people complained the jumps take too long anyway

Remember, its about fun, speed, activate and we need to do things unconventially such as the ALR. 40% instead of 50% seems like a mistake but practically all the aerials are just too long. I think 40% falcon is more like melee falcon than 50%. All these little things including the jump speed code don't produce bad side effects and help with the flow of the game which is what is really lacking.

About the char spec stuff, I think if we can get the knockback code we can include falcons raptor boost and possibly 3rd jab buffs.

I assume you wanted the chart of values which I don't have. You would have to ask osi because Idk what he did.

And since we are going back to beta 2s stuff, Id just call it beta 2.1 because its an improvement on b2, not something new. But its whatever.

We are keeping some of the stuff from Beta 3, but we are brining a few characters back to the beta 2 that seem to need it. Give the characters a bit of changes. There are enough differences between Beta 2/3 and what will eventually become beta 4 that we can infact call it Beta 4.

Lets get some good solid testing going on on these things before we decide to release it all to the public.

I'm not using the momentum code with this yet though. Once it's toned down 20% I'll likely put that in.

Samus feels great with the new missile speed. My only request now is a slightly faster roll, but i can live without it.

Kirby however needs to be put back at his standard SH height. Why was he changed in the first place?

Will expand more upon this post later. Im really tired atm.

New values for Ivysaur forward B and Pika Down B:

Ivy Razor = 1F0A0113 3FC00000
Pikachu thunder = 0700011D 3F666666

Ivy Razorleaf speeds up after the move is out (comes out same time, less winddown)
Pikachu thunder has 10% more winddown lag after he hits himself.

What do you guys think about these? With this code it feels to me that Ivy only really needs multi tethers and we could consider him pre balanced.

Edit: Seems people are liking the idea of Kirby SH being set to 1 again.

ill give it a shot but more cooldown lag on pikas thunder sounds like an excellent idea. That move is practically unpunishable as it stands

Also, Im confused as to what codeset we are going to build off of for the 4.0 since things are really unorganized. How about we try the one I posted above and build from that and see where things stand? It should have the changes shanus wanted, plus some stuff osi added and the fixed side b stuff and the rest is up there.

I just need help with figuring out the grab release codes since that one code is really long and confusing. I want to release this code shortly to try and things good before the kb code comes out. Then that can be 4.1

Pikachu's thunder is situational to use as it is, and apart from his DThrow he's balanced enough as a character, IMO. Why does he need this change?

thunder is basically unpunishable because the last strand of the bolt protects all of his cool down lag which makes it easily spammable and hard to punish

^^Except that anything with more range than the shock can hit him right after it.

The move is fine as is. There are many moves that are safer than Pikachu's thunder.

Not to mention you're not going to be using pika's thunder unless your foe is above you, anyway. And using it when your foe is on the ground is a very gutsy move due to its startup, so I don't see what the huge problem with it is.

Also, if I haven't said it already, I completely agree with cutting down the ALR to 40%. A lot of the moves that felt like they were still too laggy feel so much better now.

Edit: It seems Giza can fix the landing lag from Boozer and DK up and Bs. Do we want to fix this, and if so how much do we want to speed it up by?
Perhaps by 50%? That might be too much, though.

It was a thought. Try out the Ivysaur code. It works kind of like a less gay Melee Falco SH laser approach.

You can throw it and as so as you hit the ground again from a SH you can move again.

Gonna try DK and Boozer at 60%.

If DK whiffs the landing of his Up+B, he deserves the punishment. He has the ability to make it land neatly, so it's hit own fault if he botches it. Booser, Ionno.

ALR changing from to 40% is pretty substantial leaf. I'm against it as its just buffing offense too much. The change for falcon alone was HUGE. I strongly feel ALR should be kept at 50% unless otherwise specified.

Also, updating the OP right now with an updated set. It takes 3.1, adds Beta2 values for Mario, Samus & Sheik. It also adds Giza's wolf code. Also it sports a new Boozer Don't Care modifier and some other tweaks as well.

But defense is still a little heavy and alr 40% will make the focus more on offense without really screwing things up. I think we should really consider it

High priority attacks with the current shieldstun and ALR at 40% will wildly tip the game to offense for some chars.

The 10% change for falcon made him go from a character with a weak approach to one where jabs after an aerial on a shield were very feasible. I don't think we want every character to have ridank approaches, especially those with higher priority.

I honestly haven't seen any B+ videos where a defensive playstyle has come out on top. There's no reason to promote offense when nobody is playing defensively.

I can show you shortline. He is annoying with it, but its not brokenly annoying to approach. Personally, I think ALR @ 50% should be standard.

I love this codeset, havent gotten a chance to check out the new Bowser dont care mod, but this is a really nice set.

The only things I think it really needs are fixes to Sheik F tilt, Pika D throw, slightly bigger techwindow (and tech during hitstun) and if we can get them to work: No AD during tumble and fixed momentum (and optional DJC because its so F'n hot)

well then we can lower shield stun if thats a problem

I think its because everyone is about having fun right now and we haven't seen matches where the point is to be gay yet. Ask cape, he sure is having loads of fun with his campy roommate...

Can we try .4 +1 hitlag instead of .5 +1 please? I think its much better. It make things flow alot better but its not ridiculous either.

And you didn't add .99 air dodge speed? I thought we all agreed it could use more lag?

Hitstun is still at .485? Can we try .48 please? I think its a bit too high

And can we add comments to the codes that say what certain settings are at?

i kinda forgot about it tbh Kupo, I was away all weekend. Has anyone tested it to see how it plays? Whats the hitlag code again Kupo? Does it preserve ZSS stuns?

Its no different than .5 +1 imo. Just change the 5 above the A to a 4. Thats it. I thought we were going to find a way so it doesn't affect the stuns even though several have said that she gains so much from other stuff its not necessary

All I did was change the hitlag to .4 +1 and the hitstun to .48

I think we should try .99 air dodge speed

Why lowering hitstun? I felt 8.5% was a pretty solid value. Just wondering what in particular?

it just feels a tad too much. Although I always add the momentum code in so that may be why I feel so. .48 is much better with the momentum code

After playing falcon, i think he could use a higher full hop by like two notches. I think "A" value would be better

Do you think that giving samus some gravity would be good? She has none atm

Wolf feels really floaty and weird. I think it has to do the a lower up down gravity.

Ganon also has no additional gravity?

Where is the b2 chart?

I don't like how several characters have no added gravity whatsoever. I think everyone should have some gravity. Its slower than my code set >_>

Since momentum isnt out yet in working form, leaving at 8.5% for now.

Ganon plays terribly in B2, his current setting is awesome. Do you want falcons FH heigher for his ledgedrop jump height? I mean you can get the nair up there and all others too :-O. Wolf is interesting, a lot of wolf mains like it. Ask Cape & Giza and others. Samus I asked about and people thought I should keep her floaty :O

Once we get momentum together everyone should play that much better.

SOME chars need to be floaty, and as I recal people think at least Samus, Kirby, DDD, and Ness needed to be floaty.

Ganon does not play terrible on b2 at all.

I want falcons fh higher to jump higher to follow up better mostly

Everyone should have some gravity or else this set will play slower than mine.

Whats up with these guys?

That is a lot of players that play slower than my set

Once we get momentum together everyone should play that much better.

SOME chars need to be floaty, and as I recal people think at least Samus, Kirby, DDD, and Ness needed to be floaty.
You can still be floaty with only dgravity and I am using momentum so if it feels slow now it will feel slow then

Playing melee and smash ultimate
Ganon with no added grav is... interesting. He doesn't get combo'd as easily, but he's easier to kill.

Also, this build is far from stable.

1) Dash with a character and go into their running animation
2) Try to turn around
3) ???
4) PROFIT!

The game freezes whenever you try to do a turnaround during a dash. So far I've had this happen with everyone I've tried it with (sheik, ganon, and fox (with the fox one giving me a large annoying BEEEEEEEEP)). No idea what's causing the problem, but it needs to be fixed. When this happened to me with sheik, I thought it was because I had gone into the running anim... now I think what actually happened was that I went into the run animation and then tried to turn around.

Community speaks louder than Kupo.

Community had no negative comments on those sets. Except Ness and Kirby, and (shock) they wanted more float.

Edit:
Leaf, I had that awhile back, I removed the grab release stuff and it all works fine. Oddly enough

Of the characters highlighted, we have gotten excellent feedback from several sources on:
DK, Kirby, Luigi, Ness, Zelda, Ganon, G&W (he is RIDICULOUS as is) & Jiggs

All very happy with their current playstyles. Gravity doesn't need to be applied. Especially in a game where FF'ing is so key to most of their gameplays & downgrav doesn't apply there. If you post exact reasoning how it improves their gameplay, then its worth investigating (as we discussed on AIM).

Please let me if removing the grab release stuff fixes this crash.
