Best / Worst Areas for Melee

I'm sure this thread has been done before but it's relevant to bring up again in light of the dwindling community. I'm interested in which states, and in particular which areas (for large states like CA or TX) have the most active Melee communities right now. Things like number of tournaments hosted, average number of people showing up at tournaments, and overall quality of tournament Smashers are the key factors.

Also in which states has Melee died completely? Where is the worst place to go to play Smash? I'm sad to say Mississippi is probably near the top. I think there's 2 active Smashers here (maybe 3, I think we got a new one!).

Keep it on topic and this should be interesting. :)

I guess Socal and tri state would be best. Followed by Florida or something.

Worst would be like Wyoming or Idaho LOL

At least not Las Vegas, I have no idea about Carson City.

It's like I'm the lone survivor of the Brawl Holocaust and everyone else is now a metaknight zombie.

alaska 8D lol
Alaska actually has a scene.

Here in Canada, Alberta and BC have the biggest (big for us, small for you guys). East Coast seems to be really into Brawl and stuff, BC is half and half and Alberta is strictly Melee biatchesss. (With the exception of Superboom who plays 64 and dabbles with melee and brawl.)

Texas is still trying to keep the melee going. In my city we still have a good 20+ players.
We should be having a big Melee/brawl tourney in Jan with a few other states coming as well.

Not Tennessee for sure, in Knoxville I think including myself theres... 4. Maybe theres 1 or 2 I don't know of though, I doubt it. We even have a large university (University of Tennessee) and still hardly anyone plays smash, not even brawl. Memphis is better though, theres almost a scene there, maybe 10-30 players there, I'm not really positive. Memphis is basically in another state from Knoxville though, its 6+ hours away.

IL seems to be kind of a mixed bag to me.

There are some spots that are still for melee and always remand for melee, but then there are some spots where brawl has taken over.

South Carolina is probably the worst. Everyone plays brawl. The only meleer that is here year round is RC, and he's 3 hours away from me.

/emo
Let me reiterate this in a way everyone can understand.

*cough*

I, coreygames, live in the state West Virginia. There are no people here. There are no smashers here. There is nothing to do here.

We go to South Carolina for vacation like many people do. South Carolina has many people there, and, there are two people in this thread posting. You know how many people from WV post on SWF? I'll let you guess how many.

WEST VIRGINIA IS DEAD. IT NEVER HAD A COMMUNITY LET ALONE HAS A DWINDLING ONE.

Feel free to be happy to have someone 3 hours away from you, I have to go 7 to get out of state.
